      You can tag over to them and see some spooky dialogues about how you "shouldn't be seeing this"

      @Vengir Місяць тому

      @@anonymousartist2176 Fun fact, there is a little known method of how you can read other nations' focus descriptions without tag switching. Simply start typing the name of the focus (or basically any relevant keyword) in the search bar until it is highlighted. Use tab key to switch between focuses if more than one highlights. And finally, press enter.
      In rare cases it might cause your game to crash. It happened to me once, when I tried to read the description of one of Aquileia's focuses.

    Yup, Pretty much this. The writings pretty neat for the weddings appearing so their massively underwhelming performance was such a let down.

    I would love to see you do an Arcturian Order video, like “To Change and Change Back”. I just think factions like them can have a very wholesome slant, and I love how you animated the formation of the Olenian-Changeling Commonwealth to show that.

      This meme was an over exaggeration but the Arcturians at the moment really lack much gameplay that I don't see much I could do with it.
      My recent (and possible second I'm thinking about) music video are really more exceptions because I fell in love with the song too much.
      On top of that, the Arcturians and Dread League are being actively reworked, I have a feeling, especially considering how much the devs hate the two nations, I might be doing a slight injustice if I unironically covered it like that before the rework comes out.

      @@applepieofdeath ,,hate the two nations,,? Lmao, why?

    • @applepieofdeath
      @applepieofdeath  Місяць тому +1

      @@oktilian1873 I don't really care that much and I am not a dev so I can't fully speak on their behalf but the general gist I get is a few of these reasons.
      1. Dread League gameplay, invading the ENTIRE world at once while stuck on low tech is absolutely annoying since it takes forever to do, and results in constant dealing with naval invasions and aerial bombardments. Unfortunately, an edgy life ending apocalypse apparently resonates with a lot of people so it constantly gets recommended to newcomers, who get the wrong impression of the general gist of the mod. For one case, while I didn't see his second attempt, TommyKay, big Hoi4 UA-camr with an audience of 500k+ subs, while still had a positive objective evaluation of the mod at the end, had a pretty negative subjective experience as so many people had recommended the nation, he was lead to believe this was how the mod was generally. Again, never saw his second try at the mod, so I don't know if like Alex the Rambler, did he change his mind and did a far better coverage of the mod after listening to critiques of what he (unacceptably) misunderstood about his run, but the risk of this happening again is still present.
      2. Rosa is seen by many to be an edgy cookie cutter villain only popular due to fulfilling various waifu checklists. Personally never played Dread League but being cookie cutter never bothered me too much, let's not kid ourselves, the show this mod was based on wasn't exactly the pinnacle of originality. Though for a lot of us, while the show can be while cardboard cutout, it's decent quality cardboard, I can't say the same either way for Rosa.
      3. Lore, a lot of it apparently doesn't make sense with the rest of the mod. Outside of the fact that somehow very little know they exist, which in a WW2 setting should be unlikely, I don't see too much wrong with the Arcturians, again, can't say about the Dread League which probably by extension should bleed into the Arcturian's lore quality.
      4. The dev. I'm not sure if I should really name him, but you can probably find who he is if you search enough on the internet. He (who has left the team at this point) was apparently notoriously uncooperative and unwilling to listen to any criticism whether it'd be about gameplay, writing, or lore harmony with the rest of the world. It apparently spawned a meme mocking his typical response with the phrase "Solid code, No change" anytime something newly grossly wrong is pointed about either two nations. For me, this isn't the first time I've made fun of the Arcturians.
      ua-cam.com/video/4oyWnUq18TQ/v-deo.html
      5. For a long time, no one was willing to take up the task of reworking his nations (Dread League, Arcturian Order, Vedinia*, and Grenclyf), and their aforementioned popularity left them in a state where they can't simply remove the nations, but they don't want people playing them either. Naturally this makes a lot of them cringe whenever the two on the peninsula are praised and recommended.
      Again, I am not a dev, so I don't know if these are all the reasons, nor do I know if they are even universal, but I do know the animosity is wide spread.
      *This is the only I don't know if anyone is actively reworking it.

      @@applepieofdeath Cases like Tommy's first playthrough is likely why there is now a warning event at the start of the game if you pick a generic or very poor quality or outdated nation. More recently, he tried Yale (there is a general inspired by him there) and it seems he really enjoyed it.

    I couldn’t never beat Windigos they have to many units

    • @applepieofdeath

      What I do (I'm usually on Elite Dread Apocalypse you might want to change things a bit):
      Dread War: Build the frontline state's infrastructure to 3, you can get the last two from focuses, then build nothing but forts, just keep upgrading them one or two levels at a time. Go to free trade, you don't have a lot of resources in the first place, you're going from practically nothing to practically nothing, you can trade 1 civ for steel later if you're not comfortable with the gun count. For the army, train 24 6-1s or 7-2s, I forgot if I use support artillery or not, then as many 18-20 width knights. I deploy them early and train them all at the capital until the war is about to come to not lose too much equipment to attrition. If you're not on Dread apocalypse you might want to consider manning the front as soon as you get the event about sickness over the dread lands or something like that. I prioritize getting the fort building/construction focuses first, when the industry focuses unlock, the infrastructure, then civ focuses. Usually by the time the war starts the wall is at level 8 with the exception of that one on the most north which isn't on the front so I ignore it. This should make the Dread war rather trivial, ignore volunteers, they will just suck supply and if they push, your troops will just follow them and take unnecessary losses. I can't get 0 casaulties anymore, but it's still very low losses.
      Inter-war: Finish the fort line, build railways and start motorizing the supply, also start researching air force, transport planes, and last time I used tac bombers since they have more range, I don't remember if I used fighters. Once supply is up, use a fall back line to keep the army on the fortline.
      Windigo war: With the fortline in place, airforce providing CAS, they shouldn't break through, use your Knights to deal with the units that spawn behind your lines immediately. Then just log strike the Dread peninsula for awhile and when you start to push, make 1 province encirclements, they should cut through like butter. If you don't have NSB, just wait awhile for them to start starving on their own, If anything, too many windigos should make it easier since more units=more supply attrition. As long as they don't get through the wall you could always sit and wait for better planes.

    • @applepieofdeath
      @applepieofdeath  8 місяців тому +6

      The Dread league is hyped up to be the ultimate threat to life and the world, yet as long as you know how to prepare your defenses, all you need to do is finish the, "shield of hope" focus, which lets you instantly win. Like, not some super buff to yourself or debuff to the enemy, it just gives you an event that insta-kills the dread league.
      Then the secret war with windigos is teased and supposed to be an even greater horror that rises, but after all the modernizations done before, the war is absolutely trivial (for a player).

      Darth Vader: Windigo leader of "The Northern Storm", secret enemy after the Arcturian tree is finished. It got a portrait update if you haven't played it in a few years.
      Cops: Ostwald, William, and Rosa if you went down the redemption option.
