Seeing the trailers years ago, and playing to the cutscenes in-game, where it finally makes sense with the context is a satisfying feeling I cannot accurately describe.
This actually tells us a lot of new things: + This is more strictly a sci-fi setting + Holding breath could imply a stealth element; wouldn't be surprising for Kojima (We already know it's an open world game, so the truck's presence is also noteworthy) + To survive some kind of eldritch horrors + Which can be detected using those flapping camera-lights, which appear to rely on the fetus to function. Probably some special quality about human fetuses allows the device to perceive the eldritch horrors, or it's a special kind of fetus that enables it all the same. + The underwater sequence is our respawn mechanic (confirmed elsewhere) + The rain is called timefall and ages things faster than normal (confirmed elsewhere) + The USA has been reduced to the United Cities of America + Sam is a Porter, some kind of carrier/transporter/gatekeeper, likely for the carefully wrapped body. The lifting rig on his back also has a dream-catcher on it. + Being that they're Corpse Disposal Team 6, the wrapped body is probably a corpse, and there's probably something very bad about improperly disposing of corpses in this setting. It's probably even worse to get caught by _them_ alive. + Bridges is probably going to be an important entity in some way, be it similar to the SCP Foundation or this world's equivalent of a utility company. + Floating dood with a similar detector/warning device is the least of their worries and not terribly unusual for the setting or they're already well-acquainted by this point + The handcuffs seen before are the life/health meters on their wrists
What was insane about watching this (other than the fact that it was made by Kojima and how amazing it looks and Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen!) was the fact that Mark Cerny said: "After playing for 5 or 6 hours this all actually makes complete sense!" Goddamn I'm so excited for this game!
For those that say it's confusing, That's what we WANT! not reboots, mixmashes and copies of already existing ideas. Novelty, intent and execution is all I care for.
Coming back after watching the release date reveal: this 8 minute trailer has more imagination, creativity, vision, tension, horror and intrigue than any of the $100M+ blockbusters major studios have been squirting out the past 2 decades. Kojima my body is ready
i dont know why people complains about this teaser trailer. i hate "superhero" kind of trailers that shows everything i mean teasers should show the world of the game explain a little and make you ask questions, not give you answers . and this trailer does it very well , from the trailer we can understand that: - the game is action horror with scientific elements (physics) - the story is gonna be about life extinction - time traveling is part of the game - the babies can sense the invisible creatures - he who have the baby can see the giant creature - when the sensor shows 5 legs that means crawler creature , 4 legs is giant one - Mads Mikkelsen is neither enemy nor friend - the creatures make you age rapidly - - when norman falls into the sea , it looks like this is the game over mechanic , you don't restart, you go somewhere else - the handprints on norman's body could indicates how many times you have died (permanent death is likely exist) and i dont know what i have missed this information we get from a trailer the people complain about its mystery , that's why i dont want "batmanVsuperman" kind of trailers.
I love it! And I couldn't agree with you more. Marvel, go blow something up. I know... blow up Microsoft! Leave true artistic entertainment to the master. Kojima, we believe. Deliver as you always do.......
Everyone is here saying it's confusing... I'm just sitting here wondering what the gameplay is going to be like. This seems like way more of movie than a game.
+Shayan G I find his performances to be a little too mechanical (and that isn't an opinion based solely on him playing a sociopathic cannibal) and devoid of the range that is associated with other top European actors a la Matthias Schoenaerts (Western Europe's Marlon Brando). It's a personal thing. I expect most won't agree with me as most regard him as a good enough actor. Anyway, I'll not let it affect my opinion of his performance here or of Death Stranding as a whole.
I feel like this game will be very devisive. I think it will be something that if you go in with open mind and enjoy it, you might get one of the best gaming experiences out of it. Im def going to try it. I want devs to push and create new games like this. We dont see too many original narratives in video games anymore. I also dont mind my games being more cinematic as long as there is a balance with gameplay.
With that mechanical thing on their backs that's definitely going to come into play with the gameplay, seems suited for a third person shooter. Why are they transferring babies and hiding from these Eldritch horrors? It seems like an antimatter force scouring the world and destroying life. Reality is breaking, time and space is breaking.
After seeing the latest gameplay footage and boss demonstration this actually makes more sense. Characters killing themselves because once they get consumed by that creature it will leave behind a crater.
I love the “Aw Yeah” accompanying the logo. They play a different soundbyte after every trailer, it reminds me of all the different Cartoon Network Studios endings
I guess will be something close to mgsv with some new mechanics. And that's cool cuz mgsv has an amazing gameplay, maybe too repetitive content but amazing controls, so addictive.
I get it now. After that big being ate that guy and what seemed to have exploded. The main character was probably knocked out, had a dream of being in that same exact spot hes laying on. Which used to be an ocean, the baby being inside him is probably just symbolic. When he wakes up again, where those beings are floating is the big crater of the last explosion the main character is talking about. That meteor mustve brought something with it or opened up a interdimensional gate for them to get through to our realm. I just realized that the baby is what powers the device that detects those beings. The baby is like a battery and also a sensor to these beings. As soon as that character took the baby off of him and threw it to the main character, his detector wasnt working anymore. Interesting.
Random Things it's already been explained that the underwater sequence is what plays out when you die and restart a sequence. Whatever happens to you prior to dying becomes apart of the game as you progress forward (e.g. crater from the explosion). It's a more fluid way to create an immersive cinematic experience as opposed to seeing a 'game over' screen.
Geebin Inc Yeah I know. The player must swim around the purgatory and find all his items, then, if he finds his body, he can just go inside it to continue playing. When you collect all of your items, the baby appears giving you a thumbs up, meaning that you succeeded (which, btw, that's some classic Kojima humor right there). _you're not the only one cursed with knowledge_
Kojima seriously uncorked his imagination for this one. MGS was too prohibitive for this guy's creative juice. Move over, traditional gameplay. It's about to get really weird up in here
HOLY SHIET just spoted something at 3:52, The dark guy does the same gesture as the solider/commander guy with the night vision googles in the second trailer!!!
WOW. All I can say WOW. Very intrigued about this game. I am excited to see what Kojima can create now that he has complete creative control, not to mention working with Guillermo del Toro. By the way, I can't help to notice some connections between this game and the anime film "Angel's Egg".
Looking back at this trailer, I now ask myself: why did the guy yell Sam? Didn't he notice that the robot arm on his back was sensing the BT's? Didn't he know that the gazers are blind, and that they only spot you by sound?
It seems like this takes place earlier in the game, they may not have been as knowledgeable about the world. This is evidenced by Sam’s gray suit and lack of his own B.B.
The crazy thing is this is Kojima still teasing us. If we're seeing all of this, then by the time the game goes gold our PSN download of the game might fly out the TV screen and pop a physical disc in the PS4 at this point o.o

Only Kojima would have a teaser trailer that's eight minutes long. Take my money.

Welmosca that was gameplay lol
Yup thats why I said gameplay there...even better no?

This game looks like one huge mindfuck.
Not that I'm complaining...
you saw the game?

That's the beauty of Kojima games. Everything looks like a mess, until final puzzle is placed on th table!
I know right and I thought kingdom hearts was a confusing game

Only Sam can see the Man In The Golden Mask AKA floating dood
Renteria Nathaniel source? I don’t think that’s entirely true considering the newest trailer has him interrogating Fragile
Otto Bergmann (Helenelundsskolan) I’m replying to the guy’s comment that says only Sam can see The Man in the Golden Mask, that was from 2 months ago.
Not eldritch horrors. Cosmic. Much more frightening.
@Glen tennis Nice prediction considering the newest gameplay reveal showing Sam reacting to the player's "camera".
Release date trailer drop today and now I'm watching all the trailers lol... November 8th 2019 let's go

Sabalghoo honestly after watching yongyea's vid everything makes alot of sense.
kojima should do a movie
Kauê xD NO!
That's what he wanted to do, before becoming a game designer.
Everything he's done up to now should already be considered movies.
He has already done one, it's called Metal Gear Solid 4.
Kojima prefers the gaming medium over film
For those that say it's confusing, That's what we WANT! not reboots, mixmashes and copies of already existing ideas. Novelty, intent and execution is all I care for.

Give poor Daryl a break! From a zombie apocalypse to an upside down apocalypse. I can only hope he gets to find 11, Hopper at least...

Hideo Kojima: Kept you waiting, huh?
Funny thing, that ended up being an Easter egg in the game.
Even the game over reference

i dont know why people complains about this teaser trailer. i hate "superhero" kind of trailers that shows everything
i mean teasers should show the world of the game explain a little and make you ask questions, not give you answers .
and this trailer does it very well , from the trailer we can understand that:
- the game is action horror with scientific elements (physics)
- the story is gonna be about life extinction
- time traveling is part of the game
- the babies can sense the invisible creatures
- he who have the baby can see the giant creature
- when the sensor shows 5 legs that means crawler creature , 4 legs is giant one
- Mads Mikkelsen is neither enemy nor friend
- the creatures make you age rapidly
- - when norman falls into the sea , it looks like this is the game over mechanic , you don't restart, you go somewhere else
- the handprints on norman's body could indicates how many times you have died (permanent death is likely exist)
and i dont know what i have missed

I love it! And I couldn't agree with you more. Marvel, go blow something up. I know... blow up Microsoft! Leave true artistic entertainment to the master. Kojima, we believe. Deliver as you always do.......
Time traveling was not part of the game and neither was the handprint death thingy but you were right about everything else
If that little over-the-shoulder light thingy becomes your in-game targeting reticle, that'll be the dopest.
C Stout: you're right but it also searches for the (BT's) tar ghost's
Audience: whats the story of this game
Kojima: YES
Everyone is here saying it's confusing... I'm just sitting here wondering what the gameplay is going to be like. This seems like way more of movie than a game.
Kojima says if you like Uncharted and The Division you'll like Death Stranding so pretty much a 3rd person shooter I guess.
I'm not a huge fan of Mads Mikkelsen. That is my concern. But it looks very interesting nonetheless.
why aren't you a fan of him? I'm genuinely curious
+Shayan G
I find his performances to be a little too mechanical (and that isn't an opinion based solely on him playing a sociopathic cannibal) and devoid of the range that is associated with other top European actors a la Matthias Schoenaerts (Western Europe's Marlon Brando).

It uses the Decima engine, and Kojima has stated 'huge open world' previously.
Can’t wait to play this on pc!
I still, think this is the best trailer, even better then the ones that actually introduce story. Especially the music
Who would have thunk that after playing the game all of these trailers start to make sense.

Jack Hunter the game releases in 13 days and I still watch this trailer. Says a lot about kojimas talents.
After seeing the latest gameplay footage and boss demonstration this actually makes more sense. Characters killing themselves because once they get consumed by that creature it will leave behind a crater.

or maybe the underwater scenario we saw could be some kind of purgatory

There once was an explosion, then came another explosion as to another explosion, and then came the next explosion.
A lot of explosions to this lore.
what madness
this man's games are in a class of their own. MGS was incredible, and I bet this will be insane as well
Yeah the launch trailer came out, but this one will always be the coolest.
What if every time you die the place you died at leave a crater due to your death(perhaps there will be a big explosion every time you die)

All of this is playable and running real time on the PS4 Pro
Awesome
Miguel Rodriguez no on original ps4.... Kojima said it himself
The dialogue at the end. Seems like this phenomenon is a cause of a second big bang explosion.
Looking back at this trailer, I now ask myself: why did the guy yell Sam? Didn't he notice that the robot arm on his back was sensing the BT's? Didn't he know that the gazers are blind, and that they only spot you by sound?
Could be that the guy is a new recruit, same with the guy whose torso got crushed...
It seems like this takes place earlier in the game, they may not have been as knowledgeable about the world. This is evidenced by Sam’s gray suit and lack of his own B.B.
He shot the other guy. They had already heard and sensed him. There was nothing he could do. He panicked.
this trailer is the best one for sure
