    MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) may not be new to Americans, but it has become so popular in China that you see and hear people talking about it everywhere! We talk about how Chinese people talk about MBTI as small talk, and also roast our partners who have very different personalities than us!

    This MBTI thing was all the rage on Tumblr in the early 2010s, everyone had their type in their bio. I was surprised to see it become so popular in China 10 years later

    I really enjoyed this episode!! Thank you so much Rita!! It would be great to hear some episodes around childhood memories/ cultural similarities and differences and other things in psychology. I love to talk about these things with my friends so the vocabulary would be very helpful

      With new friends I’ll normally ask them what their happiest childhood memories are because it opens up lots of interesting discussions. I’ll also ask what 3 things they’re most grateful for and what their 3 biggest dreams are.

    this is wonderful but please can you invest in better recording equipment? I find Mei laoshi especially quite hard to understand, the sound is a bit muffled.

      you're far more extroverted than me though you are clearly quite analytical and intelligent. I do admire you and basically think of you and Laoma as people to look up to, UNLIKE ME, really.

    this is all hot garbage. the company (Meyers Briggs) that created this classifcation isn't even allowed to use it for their own personel... that should say something lol

      @CliffCutts Місяць тому +1

      @@RitaChinese yea, it's pretty funny, if you dig into the whole Meyers Briggs history it unravels pretty fast. BUT... there are reasons you can't/shouldn't use it for hiring in the US (legal implications), since it has serious issues with neurodivergent behavior etc...

    Yeah, the mbti was about as useful as what my Chinese birth sign was. Not useful.
