    A tip I have found, if you water from the bottom (in the saucer) the roots grow deeper stabilizing the plant and I understand you prevent nitrogen from being washed off the roots. Plants shouldn't soak in water so if it doesn't absorb all the water in the dish in 15 - 20 minutes empty the dish. A mulch will prevent the top soil from drying out. Just a tip my grandmother taught me back home. It always works for me. Your house is beautiful!!

      Hi David, great suggestion - I think I need to trade that small saucer out for a larger one and then I can do this on the cuke. Thanks so much for sharing what works for you! Grandma always knows best! :)

    Looking good Kim. Definitely a tall enough tomato cage for Jack and a Giant to come down. One of the down sides to indeterminate tomatoes. Just keep it trimmed and you shouldn't have unwanted guests. LOL

    hi Kim do you have to water your tomatoe and cucumber plants using this system also it's a good idea to remove the lower stems so that most of the water and soil nutrients go all the way to the top of the plant.

  • @Adol666

    They look nice but they need more light. You can never have too much light when growing indoors under lights. I use an 8 bulb T5 system with 50/50 6500k bulbs for veg and 3000k bulbs for flowering/fruiting, for a total of 40,000 lumens Even with that I could use more light lol

    Why do you think that cage won't work on outside plants? I use 54", 4 legged heavy duty cages like that on my outdoor toms and they work great.A word to the wise tho', the tall 3 legged kind made with the wire like the small cage will not work for indeterminate toms, they are not strong enough. Your plants look great! I'll be starting my stuff in the next 3 weeks.

    how do you control fungus gnats indoors,they are everywhere on the windows and floors

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  7 років тому

      Hello Butter Nut - I like to use a few things to control those pesky gnats.
      1. Apple Cider Vinegar with just a drop of dish soap attracts them and kills them - see this in my Grow Light Closet tour video, ua-cam.com/video/r2B0ry_2RKo/v-deo.html.
      2. Sprinkle cinnamon on the surface of the soil - this also helps control fungus and mold.
      3. Spray with a Neem oil solution.
      I will be doing a video on controlling fungus gnats very soon - stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
