You legend
Late runs are bad right? Because of the heat of the day? Early runs are better? Oh McLaughlin has this locked up then.
I've gained another step, up the respect ladder for you. Excellent stuff.
Rick Mears won the pole in 1991 in the heat of the day
First time watching your videos. Been following and or involved in Motorsports for 50 years.
Extremely impressed with your knowledge and talent.
We’ll see you often in the future…
Only one little suggestion. A minor one: try to stop swaying during your delivery.
Other than that excellent !!! Good luck with your future in broadcasting !!!
The way you mix the day's Indy 500 news and history in every video in your Indy 500 coverage makes the event feel bigger.
Apparently David is IndyCar's marketing department.
@@fh2926if only he was actually in charge of the marketing department
@@fh2926😊
Yep thanks Dave from downunder. Indy is life.
David Land doing a bang up job, keep it up Land! Best Indycar coverage out there!
Impressive he's toping NBC
Hey David i ran into u twice today. I was the guy in the bus bros shirt and Penske hat. We first met in the paddock and then behind the fence that was behind pit road and I gave u a fist bump. Super cool to meet u
Did you buy him a hot dog and a coke ?

I remember maybe ten or so years ago I sat with David up in the penthouse seats for the GP. I was so excited to see him. I kept point him out to my friends but they were like “who?” “Where?”. David was with his friends and I ask them: “do you think this people realize the resource we have in front of us?”. His friend was like “it is just Dave…”.
All I can say is, I was super happy and tried to give him the thumbs up as well .
I feel the love you have for David!
Thank you, david for your excellent coverage as I sit here trying to work with Peacock streaming in the background
Wonder what Chip thinks seeing his former nascar star cooking all of his drivers, and doing it for his arch rival.
I've been following you for years and you have become THE source of Indy 500 news. Absolutely love your coverage, top notch graphics and history lessons. Keep up the great work!
Excellent coverage this week David, thank you so much as always
wish Sage Karam and JR Hildebrand where there
Scott Mclaughlin looks so freakin consistent this year. Got a good feeling about him having a great 500
Best Indycar coverage out there including for the 500 been following your channel since the start of the 2018 season keep up the great work
This is my favorite time of the year and I'm always looking forward to the daily analysis! I come here for all my Indycar news! Awesome work!
David you remind me of all the old school guys that used to cover the 500. Keep up the amazing work
You deserve more subs David. Been watching you for around four years I think you had 30k when I started and you’ve always been on point man. Good to see you at Indy every year
How in the actual f*ck is there a part shortage for a *13 year old, SPEC* chassis?!
Great video David. You are the best at Indy car coverage!
How can there be a parts shortage when the chassis has been around for more than a decade? Did Dallara quit making parts?
I was asking myself the same question.
Covid's still a thing guys.😉
If the supply chain had been healthy, it would have recovered fully by now. We know covid happened with perfect timing to mask a $9.5 Trillion banking liquidity crisis. (At least I know...) but I'm surmising the supply chain was already in trouble, hence the inability to pull itself back together.
Regardless, race car repair parts are specialty high dollar consumables. There's a huge incentive to provide them in a timely fashion and doing so is money on the bank for Dallara. I'm still looking for a plausible explanation and covid falls.way short.
Thanks for being my main source for Indy news Dave. Appreciate your work and efforts!! 🏎️🏎️🇺🇸
Awesome stuff as always.Thank you very much
Thanks for the coverage, David! Love Indy, love the month of May, and love the in-depth coverage.
Why is there a parts shortage? I’ve missed that up until hearing that a few times this week but have not heard an explanation.
Really. All teams have been running this same chassis for 13 years. No parts??
@@GrandpaShark I’m guessing b/c the hybrids were supposed to be the deal now and delays in that have thrown off parts production for this car. Dunno.
Excellent coverage! 👍👍
It sucks that you have to subscribe and pay for Peacock in order to watch qualifying for the Indy 500.
Thanks for calling it the NASCAR World 600 💪🏼
Coke not sponsoring anymore?
@@extragoogleaccount6061 they are, I just prefer the former name “World 600”
The next two days are going to be one of the best times for race fans' lives
The new Aero screen saved his life. ty for the coverage , Aye Parts,
Great video David !
The chip draws were all infuriating. So many bad pulls. Rahal rolling 32nd is NOT GOOD.
I swear I think poor Rahal is cursed. I feel so bad for him.
The order of qualifying has no impact unless the weather changes.
Helio Castroneves is a huge bummer
Late day runs can be fast. Arie Luyendyk won the pole on Pole Day in 1993, he went out at 5pm
@@beckyumphrey2626 If the track temp stayed consistent then yes it would not matter but the early guys in the order get to run when it’s still coolish at 11-12. Graham won’t get to run until around 2 or so basically meaning the track will be too hot for a good speed and he will need to make a second run later in the day for a higher speed. It’s only gonna change 1-2 mph but that matters a lot more than people realize
1:33 “Yep, I’m flying through the air. This is not good”
-Ricky Bobby
Nice. Thank you.
I greatly appreciate your coverage of the 500. I look forward to the day you are the next jack arute at Indy.
Following this from Santos, Brazil.
Random question, but how did Brazilians end up with such a rich IndyCar tradition? Alternatively, who was the first big Brazilian IndyCar driver that started the pipeline?
@@extragoogleaccount6061Emerson fittipaldi, when He run indy after be 2 times world champion
Thanks
What makes this race exciting is that ANY team can be sent home if they don’t qualify well. I understand some business reason for the charter systems but I know, guaranteed starters for the Indy 500 will take away from what makes this the most famous race in the world. … Always enjoy your videos.
This month of may has been crazy
Some day, I want to see the triple: Monaco, Indy and Charlotte in one weekend. We might need to run Monaco Saturday night, but imagine the spectacle of Monaco under the lights, at least once every four years.
Just imagine if Kyle Larson knew the hand controls much better, he'd might be #1 with top speed of 2nd now. Given him more time with the steering wheel wheel, he'll be a contender as a rookie to WIN !!!, that's after flipping his dirt track Sprint race car now last night. Just nuts to drive Nascar and dirt track racing and then indy 500. So more than 1,100 miles with him flipping over on dirt that doesn't leave you feeling that good. Larson can drive anything, I bet you put him into a Monster truck, he would win a race, then might win a jump contest now, not afraid to hold it open !!!
Its kind of a shame there isn't more of an open wheel dirt to Indy pipeline these days. (Silver Crown cars....is that the right name for the wingless open wheel dirt cars?)
Your graphics game is OP!
They need to check Penske's software again, just in case.
Wow, Lundqvist going 3371.707 km/h... that's SR-71 speed !
Really appreciate the km/h conversations. You might want to double check the ones at 4:04 though.
That flip caught me offguard
If Siegel makes the race it'll be a miracle. It'll take someone crashing or blowing up I think. Uphill battle for sure.
The Indy 500: making practice entertaining for over 100 years
Sad John passed away.
How long has there been increased boost for qualifying?
11:41 wasn’t 1992 the first held under the lights?
Indy and nascar need to let teams build their on parts if suppliers can’t keep up or give them what they need. These guys are engineers, machinists, mechanics. It’s in their dna to build and fix things but not with hand cuffs on.
i just finish watching bubbles 325 chicago land and this is what i come back to?!
Calic cleanser ?
Are there some serious financial issues underneath with shortage of chassis/parts? Having same car for many years should mean that there is enough (not too much but still) in stock since everybody knows that "crash at Indy is pretty much write-off". Gives weird impression for future.
When & where will be the fan meet & greet?!
qualifying and the 500 its going too be great GO-KNICKS!
Beware of those Chevys...Be very aware.
Penske looked good in 2018 leading up to Qualifying, and in Qualifying, as well
I am surprised at all the wrecks so far. My mind may have quit on me, but I don't remember there being so many before qualifying. Too many not quite ready for the speeds?
Look up the 1990 month of May "Diffusergate" there were 15 crashes before qualifying. Of course that's when they had three weeks of practice, and two weekends of qualifying. Three incidents this year is a low number.
So Dixie...Wish'n ya got some extra days, huh?...Maybe saying that 15 year old cars and not needing time's not aging too well, huh Scotty?...
Is ganassi in trouble?

What the heck happens if more than one car crashes or blows an engine?
You have two or more cars that crash or blow a engine. The math is pretty simple 🙂.
@@josephc3276 I think what he was meaning is that if they struggled to get 34 cars this year, if 2 conks out and they can't get replacement parts/cars, you might have 32 cars running the race and no bump day because there aren't any cars to run.
@@PJBlick That is a possibility I didn't consider. I stand corrected Sir. Thanks for your input 👍.
Chip's boys must be sandbagging.
Go Larson.
Maybe the speed is a lot about Money just a guess.💵
Ain't no way
Ganassi caught scs from RLL.
Should rinus start looking for a new team?
Larson will be in the top 5.
No carb day any more ??
I think that's after qualifying, the Thurs/Friday before the race.
Carb Day is next Friday the 24th.
For fuel-injected engines. 😂
Hey Larson was 10th in 4 Lap average
I don't want to be a downer but there's something wrong with your KPH calculation for the first Six Tow vs No Tow. 🙂🙂🙂
Stay safe 🤘🇺🇲🇩🇰🤘
i really wish Ed Carpenter would win it. It would be the best win ever.
Great report. Don't point the camera at the sun, thanks.
The world 600 lol
I think Larson grabs 12th in qualifying
A parts shortage lol what a joke
Why are you ranking by mph? Shouldn’t you rank by lap time? I doubt the race cars have speedometers. Mph metric is useless on a track, right?
Road course - lap times - Oval goes by mph
Indy has always gone by mph. The lap times are also posted right beside the speed on the Indy car app leaderboard, as well as the IMS radio network site.
Why are showing top speed instead of 4 lap average larson is 10th in 4 lap aver
No negative words about Saturday's action being shown only on Peacock streaming this year, as you did last year? Well, since I am one of your fans that believes that you belong in the "Big League", I guess it would be best for you to not put off any potential employers. Leaves me totally in the lurch though. I ain't gonna ever pay for any fricking streaming! Later dude.
Totally agree
@@jetmikeg Thank you sir!
If Kurt could run 6th in his first and only indycar race, it shows you how easy Indianapolis is
Do you and diversity, or just more favor transfer ?
Larsons in over his head. Won't be running by halfway. Crooked Hendricks gonna find out fast he can't buyout indycar like he paid off nascar for decades to cheat
Watched the entire Fast Friday coverage today on Peacock as usual and it definitely didn’t disappoint ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
