26:19 I love how passionate Erik is about the new changes to Chuckecheese because i ABSOLUTELY AGREE! Bring back the crusty coins and tangible tickets. I miss the JOY i felt when I happen to see and pick up tokens on the floor. Stuffing my pockets with the tokens that I carefully counted (twice) to split with my sibling. Carrying around a bag full of tickets, beaming with pride whenever I would get a jackpot, others gathering around, looking in awe as the tickets flowed out endlessly. This is the beginning of my boomer age as this is something that I will cherish and talk about to my children and grand-children. 😂

Hold on… I always thought the chicken crossing the road was a stupid, practical, simple answer joke (same as you two.) Listening to the beginning of the podcast, my mind was so blown I had to call my husband… who was working… and ask him how he interprets it and he immediately said “it’s a suic*de joke” and my mind was blown even more. Update: I continued listening. Doesn’t change the fact that that way of interpreting it blows my mind.

Why did the chicken cross the road? Because it is too far to go around.

@Mackenzie Thank you. It's an anti-joke. And it's a child's joke. Most kids don't even know about death truly yet, let alone the S word. Someone just made that part up and it spread too.

Erik saying he's never seen a chicken cross the road, my first thought was also, go to Hawaii, so many chickens there (and not just Kauai).
Come to Canada. Canadian geese, Hungarian pheasants, skunks, wild turkeys mom out front and then 13 tiny animals to follow. These animals can stop traffic like no other. Moose, deer, a cougar. Yep I got stop lots.
I have been to Hawaii multiple times… but have never seen a chicken crossing the road. 🤷🏼♀️
The Chuck E. Cheese story got me. When I was 5 I went up on stage and got scared slash got to close to the animatronic and I fell off the stage and cracked my head open😂❤ first time commenting just figured I’d share love you both!

Never have Erick rant for so long😂 that band really impacted his childhood.
I use to work at Chuck E. Cheese when I was 16 in the 90’s we had the stage/band. The stamps started back then. I remember when they started them at our store. I use to love dressing up as the mouse and making the kids day. So much fun. 😊
I lived in the Virgin Islands for a few months, and chickens run around everywhere there. So I’ve seen it as well there. I even sent a photo of some chickens in a parking lot of a Kmart. It amused me. I’ve never thought of the joke in that context, wtf.
The start of this episode seemed like a role reversal. Erik seemed to be interrupting more than Colleen and randomly changing the direction of the conversation like colleen usually does. Not saying this as a bad thing, it was cracking me up! This is one of my favorite podcasts 😂

My siblings and I had numerous birthday parties at Chuck E. Cheese. I’m disappointed they got rid of the animatronics, coins, and good prizes. But that stamp thing is amazing, good for them for implementing that.
For me my local Chuck E. Cheese still has animatronics but with kidz bop music
There is just a Chuck E animatronic that is broken half the time at my location, and no stamping since Covid. You take a selfie of your party at the entrance.
The chicken joke has my mind blown! Oh wow 🤯 I never thought of it the way Colleen mentioned. And yes Erik there are chickens that wander around in where Colleen said in Hawaii.

We have a neighborhood chicken and I see it cross the road all the time between houses it’s hilarious 😂! Some people have neighborhood cats, we have a chicken 🐔 😅
The video that you mentioned Flynn was filling Erik skipping and moose was being chaotic and it was funny, you should show us in one of the best vlogs as if it’s from the vault! I’d love to see this chaos 😂❤
1980 born baby here and I saw the Tik Tok about drinking out of the hose and I had the same response Erik did before she said it. Like we weren’t allowed in the house and if you did go in and out the made you stay in and go to your room. Lol Why is it so comforting to know we all have these shared experiences.

Why does Erik only seem to take Flynn on fun adventures? He never seems to have any stories about Wesley and Maisey when you’re on tour….. do they just stay with grandma/the nanny the whole time?
They are one year olds, there’s so much you can do with one year olds that can’t even walk yet. They’ll have plenty of time to have fun adventures with them when they’re a bit older.

I definitely didn’t think of the chicken crossing the road joke as the chicken wanting to “go to THE other side” but, when I was little my only joke was “why’d the chicken cross the road?” And in my cute little 4 year old voice I’d say “Day! Off!” aka “because it was his day off” 😂
Chuck E. Cheese has always freaked me out. Their pizza slices don’t line up properly (like legit misfit pizza) and their mascot is a rat. It is just a weird place. 🤷🏼♀️ Even as a kid, I would rather play games at any other place besides Chuck E. Cheese.

My fiancé and I took our two year-old daughter to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time around Christmas. It was like they took all the magic out of it. No more tubes, no more ball pit no more band they only had one ski ball machine. I don't know why they think it's today's kids wouldn't enjoy that that. I know for a fact my daughter would of LOVED the band and the tubes you climb in. She would have loved the tokens and getting a big cotton candy bag full of tickets. It was like a big part of my childhood that I remember and it's just gone.

I live in Upstate NY and my neighbor has chickens that are always crossing the road. Ive learned to be careful and look out for em when driving home from work

Where I live, there are often chickens in the road. We have to be careful driving so we don't hit them. There's also sheeps, cows, and pigs sometimes.

Many years ago I was an office manager at a poultry processing plant and chickens would escape the trucks bringing them in from the chicken farms all the time. One time PETA got a picture of one actually crossing the road and put the photo on the front page of the local newspaper with the caption "I'm outta here".
I remember the hand stamping at Chuck E. Cheese. It was precisely that. To make sure the kids and guardians matched. 1995 kid here.

I have always been afraid/ uncomfortable around people in costumes like at Chuck E Cheese or Disney. Started when I was about Flynn's age, and still am, almost 40 years later 😆 No amount of reassurance helped.

in Miami, FL there are plenty of chickens running around some communities. they seem to be cared by some neighbors, but they do cross the road LOL
My ex had free range like FREE RANGE chickens. Sure they had a coop but they just roamed the whole yard and multiple times going to their house we had to honk the horn to get them out of the road and back to the house 😂
I know this is an older episode, but I needed to add my two cents! Lol. As someone who has lived out in the country in North Carolina for years, it is not uncommon to see chickens in the middle of the road or on the side of the road when you’re driving on the backroads. Let’s say I’m driving on the backroads once a day Monday through Friday, two out of those five days I’d probably drive past a chicken right on the shoulder of the road about to cross lol.

The Chuck E. Cheese in Norwalk California still has the band I was literally there in February but I remember the stamp it was always there at least here in LA but yes it's definitely different from our childhood 😢 different chuck and no tokens or tickets 😢
We have a Chuck E Cheese 5 minutes from our house. It has changed so much since the first time I took my oldest (17 year old) to now taking my 6 year old. It was sad seeing the band leave. They had Chuck E as an animatronic by himself for a while but they remodeled the inside over the past 6 months and now it is exactly as Erik described. Much more 'modern'.
The Chuck E. Cheese in my area still has the band and my kids are terrified lol. The purple monster has one eye left on and the chicken girl glitches very scarily.
Yes when I went on a tour of the island of Kauai the guide said when a hurricane hit the island the chickens and roosters lost homes and are now wild and repopulate.

I think some kids made up another meaning to the joke when they thought about the possible double meaning. But I definitely thought the same as you and Erik, and I'm pretty sure that's the original meaning of the joke.

I live in Lexington, Kentucky (in the city) and there are a lot of people who have chickens around me. They run around all over the place, even sit in the road, you just drive around them.
