I don't think the price increase is because of the tariffs. If you see the price for model 3 in USA. The current currency exchange rate 1 USD = around 1.43 CAD. M3 Performance price is 54990 * 1.43 = 78,635.7. But current M3 Performance is only 70,990 CAD in Canada. That is the increase in cost to Tesla in Canada. The free trade agreement between Canada, Mexico and the US covers and includes assembled cars and their parts. So this is just reason #2645 why not to buy a Tesla. This is basically a self-imposed tariff with Canada by arbitrarily increasing the price of a certain EV brand for one country so that the Canadian market complains to their government to halt any additional tariffs on vehicles.
I hope that some kind of compromise is reached between the US, Canada and Mexico so that these tariffs will not be imposed. I voted for Trump but I strongly oppose these tariffs as well as doing away with the EV incentives. Thank Elon and Trump. Take your money elsewhere Canadians. The circus has come into town 🤡
Average Canadian can't afford Tesla EV. Time to go back to small ICE car next few year if you really need a car.
When they don't sell, they will be lowering the prices. Look at all the "old" Y's available now.
Likely increasing prices now so they can discount them back down later. Not unlike the $5k price hike on the Model S that appeared not long before they added "free" unlimited supercharging.
Thanks for stating some real facts regarding the actual massive negatives that a Trump whitehouse may impose on Tesla and the EV world. I'm very disappointed with the Musk fan boys biased view that the reduction in a few FSD regs, will somehow send the stock price to the moon. FSD is still many years away. I'm from Oz and at least Drew knows how crap it is out here. Cheers.
I think I’ll go with a polestar now instead. Canada should remove tariffs on Chinese ev’s if this is how Elon wants to operate; akin to Icarus, he’s flown too close to the sun and became hubristic that we will just continue to buy.
These aren’t tariffs lol. The Canadian gov has dropped their rich mans subsidy for EV’s as well as our dollar which due to the our version of Joe Biden, Trudeau the clown our dollar has taken a beating.
These two factors are the reason for the price increases. This goes to show how much EV’s are really being subsidized for ALL manufacturers.
And yes this will affect all manufacturers including Tesla
Do we know anything about Mexico?????
It's sort of like Canada, but warmer. It has less trees than Canada but no Trudeau. It's also better for growing fruit and vegetables. It has much cheaper housing, but its welfare system is lacking. The murder rate is really high. It's got a Gulf named after it. Spanish is the national language. Actually, it's a bit different to Canada, now that I think about it.
@@davidbrayshaw3529 lol
@@yussefleon4904 Tesla Mexico site has no message regarding upcoming price increases.
Elon involvement in politics will downgrade Tesla sales on any markets soon.
Come February it won't be just Canadas prices increasing, ours in the US will rise too. It was all for cheaper eggs.
For what it’s worth, no one I know here in Canada would consider a Tesla at this point no matter what the price was.
Bingo! The Sieg Heil killed what little appetite their was after he slithered up to the MAGA movement...
I would never even park one of those in my garage and have a catch fire with those Pieces of crap

Gas vehicle fire rate is 1,530 per 100,000 vehicles.
EV fire rate is 25 per 100,000 vehicles.
Gas vehicle fire rate is 61 times higher than that of EVS.
Stats from the National Fire Protection Association.
Also from the National Highway Traffic Safety Institute.
Gasoline leaking in an enclosed garage presents an explosion hazard.
There's a gasoline vehicle on fire somewhere in the USA at all times, every day of the year, as they occur every couple of minutes and burn much longer than several minutes.
Read and learn a little.
Stop repeating mindless blather.
Stop listening to Faux news.
Is it 4000 CAD or 4000 dollars??
You mean $4,000 CND or $4,000 USD
Tax USA 100% on EV's and remove China tariff.
So even if i wait for 2 years for the Y juniper.... let say fuck that. I wont buy a tesla car finally
I want Chinese car at 20k please Canada, please remove sanctions on Russia, on Huawei..
Wow how wonderful, your favorite not see mobile. BOYCOTT!
Why do you hold your hands together 🙏
Who wants Tesla ? They are so ugly and I think Musk is a weirdo , no thanks I like my F150
I have around 1000 shares of Tesla I bought when it was cheaper just cause I liked the cars and I’ve been hesitant to sell I chip in more money every paycheck but I’m glad you pointed out how trump may not be what’s best for Tesla just because him and Elon are cool I’ve been telling people the same thing but trump is perfect to them 🤷
Tesla and Elon has other plans than being a car company. And it may fail according to Elon. You should probably read more about Teslas updated business plans and mission
Diversification, diversification, diversification. That's a lot of exposure to one asset, unless you've got ten or twenty million invested elsewhere. There are gamblers and there are investors. If you're not in the latter group, now's the time.
Well this sucks to hear
Can't they just import Model Ys from China?
Sounds like trying to cash in on FOMO..
Wonderful
I see Elon having priorities with SpaceX and wanting to make it faster and more efficient. I can’t blame him for that; horribly slow and inefficient system that takes forever to do anything (it took them 7 months to process my special issuance medical).
looks like my new car will be a gas car then 🤣🤣
So this is just reason #2645 why not to buy a Tesla. This is basically a self-imposed tariff with Canada by arbitrarily increasing the price of a certain EV brand for one country so that the Canadian market complains to their government to halt any additional tariffs on vehicles.
lol this has nothing to do with ‘new’ tariffs from Trump. Do some real research and don’t go off assumptions. Hilarious.
Byd"> tesla
Hey...Inflation.
Trumpflation
So ev sales will collapse lol.
This could be due to currency. Canadian dollar has taken a big hit since November
Hey buddy! 😡
LOL
How about not removing comments about what some people really think about all this EV garbage
Haven’t removed any
It’s time to pivot from Tesla content. Lol
So canada is tarrifing tesla
Not yet. This is just a Tesla price increase.
this is what people voted for. so, idc.
A reflection of the worsening Canadian $ exchange rate to USD.
SURE. That's it.

I hope that some kind of compromise is reached between the US, Canada and Mexico so that these tariffs will not be imposed. I voted for Trump but I strongly oppose these tariffs as well as doing away with the EV incentives. Also, if these tariffs are put into place, ALL vehicles built in Canada and Mexico will go up in price regardless of their source of propulsion. Car sales here will plummet and the US will go into a recession. Golden age? I seriously doubt it! 😖
I think we'll have to wait at least 4 years.
The US should buy canada and make it either a state or a commonwealth like Puerto Rico.
To buy would imply a price tantalizing enough for our rulers to reconsider our not for sale hats messaging.
You need Tesla shares. Don't waste time invest elsewhere. Don't miss out. I'm telling everyone I know, including family and friends. If your wondering, I'm all-in Tesla. I'm already wealthy and I'm already retired. I have no kids, I live modestly, and will be donating my money to charities. I want everyone to do well. I hope people listen.
This channel is very informative. However, I think he off on his opinions about FSD. He invested in Aptera. I don't think there is a large market. It's gambling. Tesla is a long term investment.
Canada is USA man 😂
Hopefully Elon can gradually concince Trump to transition to more renewable energy
🤣
Didn't you hear his speeches!??? NEVER. He said DRILL BABY DRILL!
The oil, gas and nuclear hype train is here!!
LOL yeah ok keep your green new deal alive! It was never going to happen ever. Trump 2025!
It’s so weird that somehow saving the planet is now seen as woke. It’s like the bad guys from Mad Max are now in charge and telling us they are the good guys.
