@@LeafbyLeaf Aww hell yeah, dude! Your review is comprehensive and shows why reading Proust pays off. I've been reading five pages every day so it's easier to digest and I've already gained some inspiration from it to continue working on my own poetry/stories.
Your videos are my best companion for tackling challenging literature! I am knee-deep into "Within a Budding Grove," and have already watched your video multiple times (as I did with "Swann's Way"). Thank you for your work!
It was you, solely you that got me into this Proust rabbit hole lol. I really liked the shift in style in this one, as you pointed out, to a more philosophical musings/ aphorisms kinda thing since I’ve always struggled to visualize descriptions in my mind. Taking a break to read Demons-Dostoevsky but then it’s onto the Guermantes way for me
I haven’t read Proust, yet; so I can’t comment on his works, but I enjoyed all the other references you made. The community/minds/views caught my attention. It reminded me somehow of one of my favorite poems, “The Definition of Love” by Andrew Marvell, the last two lines: “Is the Conjunction of the Mind, And Opposition of the Stars.”
Lovely video. I found this volume the most trying of them. Particularly the second half. Do you have a preference between the penguin or the everyman? I have both, but read the penguin volume first.
Thanks! Most trying for me was the third volume. I prefer the Modern Library, but only the first volume of the Penguins so far (trans. Lydia Davis) above other English translations.
These kind of book reviews actually encourage me to keep reading Proust, so I can enjoy it for myself. Thanks!
That is a huge compliment. If I can encourage someone to read, I've have succeeded. What a pleasure!

Suit game on fleek sir. Your book collection is inciting me to jealousy. Great video!
Much obliged! I hope it incites inspiration more than jealousy! 👊
@@LeafbyLeaf How many books do you have? At least roughly?
I calculate roughly 1,800 books in the library currently.
Leaf by Leaf Amazing ✨
Amazing review. Just finished reading this book and it was awesome to hear these passages with your analysis.

I'm so thrilled you've taken with Proust! His opus is one of the world/historical treasures that we have!
You've really outdone yourself with this video. Excellent work.
Thank you very much. I appreciate that. 🙏

Ooooooohhhh, I *love* that!

Comprehension - full picture of a work. Re-reading allows to fill in gaps to get a better picture
Fascinating
Thanks so much, Rick. Means a lot coming from you.
