This music just brings so many memories rushing in always with the people I love enjoying the music, the food, the laughter... Just a good time together. For now I played in my kitchen when I'm busy working! OPA!
Its important to note that this style of greek music is from the Ionian islands, wich were under venetian rule for a long time, thats why the music sounds a little italian, and is much more appetible to a western, touristy audience (thats the music they play in very touristy areas of the country). Traditional music from the rest of the country is much more similar to that of the middle east, and not because of the ottoman occupation, but because Greece being an eastern mediterranean country influenced and was influenced by the middle east, thats why culturally they have a lot more in common with someone from Lebanon, Armenia, Syria or Iran than with someone from France or Switzerland
@@ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ-ΜΑΡΙΑΚΗΡΥΚΟΥ-μ9ξ My man Syrtaki isn't the child of Syrtos, but of Hasapikos. The influence from Syrtos does exist but you really can't say that Syrtaki is its descendant, especially since Hasapikos exists.

I bought a tsuras in Thessaloniki about 15 years ago in a nice little family owned music shop...I wanted a bouzouki but settled for the smaller (less expensive) tsouras and got a quick bonus lesson from the 80 year old dad who owned the store! The tsouras was touted as "handmade!" I'll say it was, floral decoration with colored Sharpies and fret marker squares in black Sharpie! 🤣 Later in Athens in a larger chain-type store I tried out a beautiful bouzouki, sounded tremendous (and it was inexpensive!) but I reluctantly passed as I already had the tsouras and baglama from Ephesus, how would I get 3 instruments home to the US on a plane?! To this day I regret not getting the bouzouki ...I coulda figured something out for the plane flight, surely!!!

This is not traditional greek music...this is music from 20th century. Some songs are 30 years old!!! This is what in Greece call folklore music and some of them " rempetika" from Greeks of Minor Asia!!! Traditional greek music is very different and changes from place to place...

Τι λες μωρέ! Δεν ξέρεις ότι αυτή η μουσική που παίζεται με μπουζούκι έρχεται απο την Ιωνία δηλαδή την σημερινη Τουρκία;
@@ΔΗΜΗΤΡΑ-ΜΑΡΙΑΚΗΡΥΚΟΥ-μ9ξ i know that this dance has ancient roots. But to say that Greece has no ties to the middle east is simply not true.
I really hate the Ionian music being mainstream, it's literally the most boring compared to the other styles of music
