Thanks for posting this - part of what I understand is the only film of Feuerman... Rubinstein felt he was the greatest cellist of all time - tragic that he died so young. Apparently the soundtrack was recorded separately from the filming, which is why it doesn't always seem in synch. A very beautiful technique - such fluidity yet such control...
Do you know if there are different editions of this piece? If so, which edition is he playing in this video, it's different than the other recordings I've heard and than the edition that I own, but I like this one better.
Eldritch is correct. Feuermann eliminates a repeat and also adds a few chords. (Most players in earlier days felt completely fine about making changes in pieces. In E.F.'s Dvorak Concerto, he goes an octave higher at the end of the 2nd theme, just like in the recapitulation.)
The sound and the film were not recorded at the same time. Near the beginning of the Rondo they matched them up incorrectly and the film shows him playing in thumb position while the notes are an octave lower!

They've cut 30-odd bars at the 'Meno mosso quasi Tempo 1'. Also played some cello notes in a higher octave than written, near the end.

Remarkably how he changes from high on the D string to mid A string unheard within one shot... :P There has been some editing in this video!
