Soorya, Devi Suktam is my favorite. I particularly like the verse: "या देवी सर्वभूतेषु मातृरूपेण संस्थिता। नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥" This verse means "Salutations to the Devi who is established in the form of a mother." 'Mathru' means mother.
It's refreshing to hear the old Devi Suktam set to a new tune composed by you. Keep refining your composing skills, as it's your ability to compose music that sets you apart from other singers, along with your divine voice, emotions, and expressions in your songs.
Soorya, you have a thousand times more potential than you think. You mentioned in an interview that you lack interest or ability to write poetry, but that's not true. I believe you can write poetry too, given your genes-your mom is a great poetess. You just need to discover the poetess within you.
I'd like to add another verse to Devi Suktam:
"या देवी सर्वभूतेषु सूर्यारूपेण संस्थिता।
नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमस्तस्यै नमो नमः॥"
It means, "Salutations to Devi who is established as Soorya (Sooryagayathri)."
Since I know Sanskrit is your favorite subject, I recommend you to not lose touch with it. It will be extremely helpful in your journey, You could read old copies of Sanskrit Chandamama magazines available for free in pdf format online. It helped me a lot.
You didn't say the word 'mathru' clearly but that's ok.. Just to refresh your memory, the word "मातृ" is the stem, which declines similarly to words like "पितृ," "धातृ," etc. In the singular, it declines as follows:
- माता in Nominative case
- मातः in Vocative case
- मातरम् in Accusative case (remember 'Vande Mataram')
- मात्रा in Instrumental Case
- मात्रे in Dative Case (om matre namah means salutations for/to the mother)
- मातुः in Ablative case
- मातुः in Genitive Case
- मातरि in Locative case.
You can find declensions for dual and plural forms online. (I myself don't know this by heart. I have to restart my Sanskrit learning).
Devi, established as Amma or the divine mother, is a significant form. It's an amazing coincidence that I was cleaning a Kali temple's front portion this morning and bought a Lalitha Sahasranamam book with English translation. So, it's amazing that you're also releasing the song today.
Navaratri that occurs during the month of April is called Chaitra Navaratri. This year it falls between 9th April, 2024, and 17th April, 2024. Chaitra Navaratri always concludes with Rama Navami. I'm eagerly awaiting your Rama Navami release, where you're introducing new faces from your village.
