ur a hero, i was actually going into the comments to find this post, since I saw it in the last one
🤣🤣🤣
This guy would make a great sports commentator in a National Lampoon film. This is supposed to be a compliment!
I know exactly what you mean bro lol I hear it too!!! Definitely a compliment and a man of culture I see 👌🏾👌🏾
Thats a bold move cotton... let's see how this plays out 🤣🤣
Adding to your point about trading with the AI, this is more important and effective the higher the difficulty is. AI tends to be poor in Prince/King, so they won't have much money to give you. At Immortal/Deity, AI has a huge money boost, so there's more for you to take to help you catch up.
Especially abusing selling luxurys, open borders and strategics. Selling heroic relics and any other relics you get in a science victory is great
they’ll also just give you diplo favor in the early game if you ask for it. up to 20 per trade along with open borders or a resource or whatever else you’re trading. i hoard so much and then sell it back to them when they value it more. sometimes you’ll have one ai that starts valuing it earlier than the others and you can just get one player to give you 20 for nothing, and then immediately sell them to another player for 4 or 5 gold each. scamming the ai is the backbone of my economy in the early game.
Working my way up to Emperor difficulty, this video will be super instrumental in determining how well it goes. Love the vids!
Tip 5 is the most important imo. Undervalued. Also early districts being the best possible is huge
Im learning what gives adjacency bonuses for each. Mts and rainforest for science. Ocean resources for harbors. River, harbor, citycenter, for economic. Its helping recognize good spots, and pinning them.
Mainly mountains for campus. Or a geothermal fissure. Rainforest you should chop.
I'm just in the process of moving from King to Emperor so well timed series, thanks!
Same. What Civ are you playing
@@oscarjohnson7681 Rome for an easy introduction to the level!
Great video. I much prefer the how-to style over the “let’s play” style.
Making Mondays something to look forward to? heckin yeah! love this series concept, really great reminders. even though some of the tips are review for me I'm definitely guilty of forgetting so it's still super helpful, and I know a few folks who I could and will pass it on to who would greatly benefit too.
“Complicated,” great description. It has rules. Different than “complex.” Yet so many permutations that it can seem complex.
16:00 ruhr is good even with no mines. Go for it if you dont have anything important to do in that moment while you are waiting for research labs
Agreed. At the stage of the game that Ruhr is available, the +20% production far outweighs the +1 to mines
Most helpful video I found outta all the civ 6 content creators
❤️
Planning your districts is all well & good until you find iron right in the middle of your planned district cluster. If you could see strategics from turn 1 my cities in most of my games would have insane adjacency.
WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER RESEARCH IRON WORKING
On rivers, aqueducts and dams give Industrial districts huge boosts. You can have multiple cities, with Industrial districts next to each other. Add the 100% Industrial card... oh baby.
So certain buildings and districts go together. Add in economic dists, who doesnt love production and gold?
This has got to be one of the best videos that I've watched in a while. Even though I know most of the stuff that was in it, I tend to forget on a regular basis. This just emphasized how important certain things are it is really going to help me bring back into Focus my game. I'm definitely looking forward to more videos like this!
16:55 venetian arsenal is a must have in every game. Even in a highlands map
Not when you are playing with England
@@redfella1527 even when playing England
Godammit why am I only finding this video now? I have been watching the likes of Potato McWhisky, Boes and UrsaRyan for years and I still struggle on diety. And I'm like, what are they doing that I'm not?? How are they always getting the wonders and great people they need? Thank you!
22:00 if you miss out on a wonder just get an entertainment complex for major adjacency too.
Just moved up to King, great bunch of tips in this vid, thanks!!!
Thanks, I've recently moved up to Emperor difficulty and this helps me win more consistently!
Great video! One of the best explaining some important aspects for success in civ 6. I’ve been getting better slowly working my way to higher difficulties. I’m always a little nervous about upping the difficulty and then when I do I just play a lot smarter and end up dominating.
I want to say that you shouldnt go for early game wonders if you have a low production capital. And if you do have a plan for how you are gonna catch up on setling.
23:50 you dont need to many units. 3 ranged units are good enough. Later one by turn 150 you should get some more if your relationships arent the best. Having a good gold income is better bc you can spawn an army anywhere
Starting to rock and roll on immortal, bout ready to jump to deity.
Which "game modes" would you consider the "standard" Civ 6 Gathering Storm game today? Personally, I use Heroes & Legends, Secret Societies and Tech & Civic Shuffle modes in the same game.
I use secret societies, monopolies and corporations and heroes and legends
There's not really a standard.
* Heroes & Legends: only if you find the game too hard
* Secret Societies: usually, but they are overpowered for some S-tier civs
* Barbarian Clans: usually because it adds some fun options and isn't too overpowered
* Monopolies and Corporations: usually because it adds some fun options and isn't too overpowered
* Tech & Civic Shuffle: only if you find the game too easy
* Zombies: never
Thanks for all the thought you put into your guides! Sorry some people are rude and impatient with the intros
20:10 you want at least +4 campus because of rationalism
Very helpful and thoughtful tips!!
Brad - please give me advice! I always get attacked by multiple other citi-states declaring wars on me, sooner or later. I have to either (1) drop what I'm trying to accomplish (for example, science victory) and frantically build military units to fight back, or (2) spend a lot of resources building military in the early games, which otherwise could have been spent on building non-military things, to prepare for any wars declared on me that could destroy my accomplishment. What is the optimal strategy for military buildup in case of wars being declared on me? Thanks!
Always have 2-3 archers, and your first culture tree unlock needs to be craftsman. This allows you to go into military tradition for flanking bonuses if you have an aggressive civ near you like Rome. If not, you aren't off the pathway for a Government.
If a neighbor is nearby, try to take them out by turn 50 (standard). You need to spend the majority of your early game making yourself a threat to the world, then move on to infrastructure, then begin your snowball.
For Culture, you'll need Theater Square, Holy Sites, and Entertainment Complexes, so you have a while of making Granaries and Settlers in the meantime. IF you're playing a civ like Aztecs you should go for Encampment, Commercial Hub, then your choice of Campus or Entertainment Complex. Other Early war civs should follow. Mid game civs like Ottomans
or Poland can reverse that, though Poland might want Holy Sites. Know what your civ wants to use their limited districts for. Their unique military unit's time period must be payed attention to.
The AI build up military and their base win condition and don't really bother with infrastructure until there's nothing else to really do for them. To help with a war on a neighbor, maybe ask the guy on the opposite end to join your war, and wait a few turns for the enemy military to focus on your friend.
You can also use Diplomacy to figure out who is going to want a piece of you. Gilgamesh will always be your friend no matter what, but Rome or Sparta are telling. When you have +20 friendship with them, and they still refuse to declare friendship with you, they think you're worthless and will take you out. Watch out for traders from such civs.
I suggest not to go for wonders if you are new player, because you kinda want to learn how to make good infrastructure first. Then next learning curve sill be how to utilize adjacency for districts. While you learn those, you will also get good sense of what wonders you can get and what not regardless of game. There are some wonders which AI will usually never built, and those are typically wonders that require bit more complicated setup (like have Industrial zone next to river, etc). For example, you will not get Machu Picchu in 99.99% of time on higher difficulty because requirement is "have mountain" which will AI have access to 99.99% of time, while Potala Palace is usually easy to get as it requires being built on hill adjacent to mountain. There are also some wonders that AI will always go for, such as Great Bath, Machu Picchu, Alhambra, Jebel Barkal, etc.
Very helpful. I'm really enjoying your videos!
Your best video! a gold mine in terms of upping your skill level! ggwp
I've been loving your videos! Keep it up =)
Only started playing civ start of this year on the basic game and can win most games on emperor setting but bought the gathering storm dlc 2 weeks ago and only managed to win 1 game on prince setting and normally fail way to easy
2:50 you dont really need great people in a science victory. They help but arent needed
Great People: keep an eye on you faith, spend spare faith to buy GP before the AI. Same goes for Gold. GP are game changers.
I dont feel like you need great people to win
Make more of these videos. They're so great!
31:30 never underesrimate spies. They are op. You should always get diplo, service
The short version from potato: just spend less times building stuff you dont need. Deity is easy if you just do that. Also get used to being behind in science. Even in a science victory. You should only be passing the AI in science by turn 100. Just setup and by turn 180 get 1k science per turn.
what do you mean by stuff you don't need?
@@rafetcan8821 Anything that doesn't specifically grow your empire or help your victory condition. Anything where the opportunity cost is too high for the benefit.
“Not having nine or ten mines isn’t wonderful for Ruhr Valley” but it is if it denies your opponent having such.
There's no way Mendeleev is better than Darwin. His 2 Eurekas will be the same of getting about 800 science, except that : you might already know chemistry or its Eureka, in which case you lose half of the benefit, and you might get a eureka for a tech you don't really need (or at the very least that could wait), while the 1000 science (in your example) are guaranteed and used for the tech you want.
Haven’t finished yet but you’ve definitely improved my game (it was hard hearing the truth about industrial zones lmao 🏭)
I’ve beat every difficulty but deity hoping this can change that lol
After deity there is one era behind mod deity
Just to ruin your day after deity there is deity with the one era behind mod, and then deity with the 2 era behind mod
I don’t think you mentioned that passing on a GP makes him purchaseable by the AI’s at a discount. So it’s usually not the worst thing in the world to pass, especially if you like the one coming up after.
The video starts at 0:00. You're welcome.
I've always dreamt of getting a science wonder down against the AI
Thanks!
Meanwhile I'm building so many wonders that my cities have no tiles to work
Nice hat on the duck.
What's the difference between season pass as buying the DLC? I have all the DLC up to Gathering Storms. Should I just buy out the DLC or get the pass?
The pass is cheaper
@@alex2005z is it renting the expansion or permanent. It looks like it expires this month is why I ask.
@@manofmartin its permanent.

Is that Perry the Platypus in the background?
The one and only
"I'm no beginner and can easily win games".
So I though before watching this :)
Beating deity difficulty isnt really hard, it just heavily limits you on what you can and can't do. Really it just removes options from the game and forces you into certain playstyles, which i find rather dull and boring. Civ 6 has such a great variety of options to approach the game, i dont really see why you would purposely limit that by playing on deity more than once.
You round like my wife.. The price is $285. My wife: "It's only $200"... 🤦♂
I'm just praying that one day they add some sort of ~Wonder~ Victory Condition
Wonders already help with culture victory and are actually required for a diplomatic victory.
I want them to bring back the economic victory.
@@tjpatton8562 yeah, but I'd still love them to have a victory of their own.
There's just something so satisfying about having an absurd amount of wonders packed into a few cities and.... Yeah. I wanna win with that!
Agree though, economic victory is a close second for me.
Is it bad I’m starting on settler difficulty? I’m mew
New”
I´d say yes -> Don´t do it.
I watched some tutorials before i started and one of them mentioned to just go with the suggested prince difficulty because otherwise you would get bored quite soon.
Couldn´t agree more ... now that i have completed a staggering amount of... 2 games. ;)
I think even without tutorials or experience with any previous Civ titles Settler is just too easy.
@@Quartan284 thanks for the quick reply bro! Have a great day 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I too started on setller and can now easily beat deity. Its fine. Tho I advise going to prince as soon as you can
How did he get those insane yields in his city
Was that 5? I lost track. Lol. Seemed like 3.
A platypus? PERRY THE PLATYPUS!????
12:09 there's Stonehenge
Really, really good stuff! I know you are enthusiastic about Civ but you could tone it down a few notches and it would help us stay on task. Keep up the good work.
28:10 how do you tell people about that and forget to sell your extra luxurys?
The YT close captioner detected this as Spanish. *groan*
yo
This video was way to all over the place I’m new to the game and I can beat it on diety probably 7/10 times with Trajan I watched this to glean information instead I got 4 minutes of unrelated talking and then 2 minutes about skipping great people and then your talking about science per turn then amenities like bro write out a format don’t just hit play and say “I’m gonna tallk about what I see for 30 minutes” guides are structured this is an informational playthrough
i have a great tip for higher difficulty. Just play like shit then the game gets really hard
Thats not how its suposed to work?
You talk too much.
