    What are your thoughts about this helmet? Do you own one? If so tell me what your experience has been.

    I bought one of these back in Oct.2023 and have been using it everyday since. I am really pleased with it. Has worked flawlessly everyday! Great product and reasonably priced.

    I’m learn how to weld and I brought this welder. I lost the book and I need a little explanation on the delay and sensitivity, could you explain how they work thanks. So I tried a welder for the first time and the guy who was teaching me was blown away. Followed his instructions and my welds came out perfect. Super stoked about learning how to weld.

    I work in a Fabrication shop and do both mig tig and also flux core I've used super high end hoods being the newer miller's esabs Lincolns even speed glass picked this one up and it really impressed me very clear only complaint I have is that shade 13 feels like shade 10 on the majority of the ones I listed but it's not bad at all for the price

    Thanks for the good review. Was eying this up this week. On salt for $74.99. Since I just bought the Vulcan 220 multi purpose welder (and used a 25% off coupon) I’ll need a helmet. I don’t do much welding so I’m not looking at spending a lot on a helmet. I think this one will fit my needs fine.

      This helmet is easy to use and does the job!

      Eyes are number one and after having some eye work done I can't chance not having good eye protection. I went with the vulcan 10.1 but the full is better.

    remember those cheap button battery's have a 1 year life span from date of manufacture so dont buy alot of them at once. the duracel ones last the longest for me about 2-2.5 years on shelf

    I picked up this helmet today for $74 parking lot sale, overall it's a nice helmet for the price but the major downside is they don't sell replacement inner lens in store for it only the outers, I try to call harbor freight today and order some inners but after being on hold for 30 minutes I hung up, hopefully they will stock them in the store soon like the replacements for the Vulcan helmets.

      Thanks for the comment! I will ask the Harbor Freight team about those when I stop bye their booth at SEMA.

      I bought the same helmet about a week ago and discovered that the 10.1 replacements for the Vulcan at HF fit them. Same exact size.

    Do these have an on-off switch, or is it just always on?

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  10 місяців тому +1

      That’s a great question, it does not have an on off switch. I would imagine that is for safety reasons such as if you forget to turn it on, it will already be on. I am not sure if I have ever had a welding helmet that does have an on off switch.

    Nice review. I was thinking of getting a similar welding helmet. I might go for a larger view port.

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  Рік тому

      Thanks for commenting! I have been using this helmet side by side with my larger port helmet and I wonder how much of a difference it truly is. Most of the time in a welding my face is right up to the lens anyway. Thanks for watching!

    I noticed the shade settings didn't have halfs like 11-1/2 12-1/2 etc ? , sometimes those halfs make a difference.

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  4 місяці тому +1

      It looks like in this price range. Some features are limited.

      @@MrFredsDIY.. i'll probably still get one, were you satisfied with the shade settings?

    • @MrFredsDIY
      @MrFredsDIY  4 місяці тому

      @Lou-eye I think the settings are better than “good enough”. Fred Jr actually stole this helmet from my shop and uses it now. He really likes it but I suppose the price was right for him lol. I use one of the Vulcan helmets from Harbor freight. I made a side-by-side comparison video that might answer some of your questions. I just bought this today after the head strap on my YESWELDER helmet broke after 3 months. The strap on this is more durable. and it shuts off automatically unlike my YESWELDER

    I have not tried my Titanium helmet yet! I will be a newbie welder at some time at 67 Earth Years. I don't really see any in-depth explanations on how to use the auto darkening features, as well as what is acceptable as not to hurt ones eyes? Have been a handyman for many years fixing almost every item in and outside a home. Now retired I wish someone would make a cognitive explanation as per welding helmets, Titanium 101! ha! Like how to switch between sanding, grinding, and welding? Yada Yada Yada? Thanks and have a great week! Robert

      It should come on automatically when it senses a spark. If it doesn’t, I would take it back.

      There are little slider tracks on the right & left sides of the lens that are made for them inside the welding helmet.

    Most of these HF Unboxings are horrid. This was nicely done, to the point. Just got the MIG 170 trying to decide on a helmet. I wont be welding alot but the viewing size is what Im really concerned about. This may work for a casual welder like me.....or it may not. Thanks much Mr. Fred!

    • @MrFredsDIY

      Thanks for commenting. The viewing port of a welding helmet is a big deal. Welding helmets from 20 years ago had very small viewing ports. it seems like they just keep getting bigger and bigger, which is a good thing! I made a three-way comparison video that may be helpful for you. Here is the link.ua-cam.com/video/oxj7VkpskVQ/v-deo.htmlsi=G6MqmWcHjTazHEp1
