I think it's a not huge problem for this SD 888 power-like chipset. Because Huawei has its own ecosystem, so they can optimize their own performance without too much power consumption as other ecosystems.
Outside of gaming you don;t see it anyway everything runs really fast and smooth. But if you run a benchmark or play say Genshin Impact max settings then it shows compared to my Tab S9 Ultra.
the ecosystem does not matter for speed, you could say the same thing for Samsung, Apple etc. Is it slower than a S8? Yes. Does that matter? Not so much. However this tablet is not priced like a midrange. It's priced like a flagship samsung or iPad

Keyboard battery life away from the tablet I couldn't gauge that as there is no battery percent. Seems it's short for the keyboard around 1-2 hours is my guess.
Not many people are going to notice the performance cause, as you said, outside of gaming it wouldn't be noticeable and I suspect, because most people don't game, that is going to be most people. Also the absolute lack of latency for the pen, the quality of the display and the fact that this may be the thinnest tablet ever made will be a big draw for many. That said I'm not sure if I'm shocked or amused that you're the first tech reviewer to not fully understand everything that is going on around Huawei or specifically the Kirin 9000s. I'm wondering if this is maybe just an act for the review. But if you don't know Huawei is barred from getting it's hands on chips that have the capability of 5G access. This is why they have opted to use the Kirin 9000s not only is it the first advanced made-in-china chip but it gives Huawei devices 5G capability for the first time since 2019. But because of all that it is also means they will not be an upgrade to an 8 Gen 2 or something higher.

As for the future well I don't know what will happen if they can get some qualcomm chips or not or just keep using there own local fabricated chipsets like this one.
@@Techtablets Well in my comment I was only trying to make it clear why they have chosen to move to the Kirin Chip and probably won't be moving back anytime soon. The 5G antenna on the chip is actually better, by many reports, than anything you would find in an Apple phone capable of achieving faster 5G speeds and better in places with poor signal. It would have been great to see you test that out.
And another huge tablet that didn't add video input support and in this case, not even output... Lenovo (tab extreme) is the only one actually thinking out of the box.
Yes I found it really strange it didn't have it and tested many cables and hubs. Nothing... Didn't expect that them removing it as the other tablets had it.

Yes and no i've not really had any issues and most of the time I use it with the kickstand as a tablet of this size even if it's only 580 grams isn't something you'll be holding for too long. The touch rejection holding it also means there are no accidental touches.
Thank you! Yes, I do the fix tested for this exact reason it is always the same test it loops and I set the same brightness. So if you watch my other reviews you can see how other tablets and phones fair. Yet I get so many complaints the test is not realistic of course it isn't but at least it can be used to gauge performance. Imagine if I did it based on my use and I gamed longer on it than say another tablet that result is then invalid. At least you get why I do it!
Looks nice but how does this compare this with the tab s8 ultra which you also have (or had), just curious on what its USP is given it doesnt have access to google play (or does it have access)? Its a shame it doesnt have video output as I use this function a lot on my tab s8 ultra.
I have the Tab S9 Ultra now, and this makes it feel like a heavy brick of a tablet. The screen I also think is superior at least to me. I can run all the GApps I need via GBox. Yes, MicroSD and Video out would have been great. Could have been the best Android tablet if it also had say a SD8Gen2 and those things.
@@Techtablets I think there's a disparity between you saying you owning the S9U, and then saying that this one is better? I think the best thing gauge whether something is really "good" is what exactly are YOU *USING* ?
No video out over the USB-C is an instant no for me. I wonder whether it will appeal because of using it's own Harmony OS, with no Android support. Then you still have the fallout from the US ban. The 5G antenna on the chip is actually better, by many reports, than anything you would find in an Apple phone capable of achieving faster 5G speeds and better in places with poor signal. It would have been great to see you test that out.
how to charge the keyboard?
The biggest tragedy in tech ever was Huawei losing Google services and becoming irrelevant outside of China.
Yes, I hope to see them one day come back. They make some of the best tech.
May I know what app you used to test out the M-Pencil? I cannot see pressure sensitivity in their notes app. Thank you!
It was bamboo
@@Techtablets Thanks so much! Loved the video by the way.
Why my matepad pro 13.2 only have widevine of L3???
hey, any info for wireless debugging on harmonyos? thanks
*for gamepad use
Wow❤❤❤.. When it will be available here in the Philippines?
Hi, it should be very soon!
How do you charge the keyboard?
And another huge tablet that didn't add video input support and in this case, not even output... Lenovo (tab extreme) is the only one actually thinking out of the box.
Yes I found it really strange it didn't have it and tested many cables and hubs. Nothing... Didn't expect that them removing it as the other tablets had it.
Is it made out of metal?
They should make a tablet without rear facing camera. But i guess people would complain about it, coz people always wanna complain (even if they have never used a tablet’s camera 😂😂)
Between this and the xiaomi pad 6s pro 12.4 which one do you recommend for note taking, media consumption not much gaming and maybe drawing.(In terms of smoothness of stylus, latency, palm rejection as well as the performance of keyboard and touchpad)
Definitely this tablet it has the better stylus.
@@TechtabletsJust one more question, is there a major difference between the china rom and global rom for Huawei products more specifically the tablets as neither have native Google support. As im looking to import one i wanted to know if i should look for a global rom or china rom is ok.
China ROM is fine but English and Chinese only.
@@TechtabletsThats ok i mostly or only use English but i have a question does the English work with all apps as for Xiaomi i imported a china rom smartphone and not all apps support english so its basically useless
For the price of almost US$1k (or more for taxes plus shipping), is it really worth it?
Depends on your needs, stylus, screen and sound are fantastic but there those cons I pointed out like no MicroSD, video out and older chipset.
for tablets only ipads make sense
@@Techtablets Thanks Chris!
Always love your reviews.
Yeah, at this price, I might take on the Windows 2in1s. I am looking at the N100 tablet from GPD or the i3 from OneMix.
@@MLTAKOS
Eeeeeew, NO!!!
An overpriced iPAD NEVER made sense!
You'll get more productivity from Android or Windows.
@@saturn2fire not apple fanboy here but apart from the 60hz lack in cheaper ipads, every ipad is better value for money in each budget category and productivity yes completely for windows, medium on ipad and none on android
The thing is the bezel is too narrow. Dunno how to hold it comfortably with hands without worrying uninvited touch
Hi, it's just fine had no issues as they use some touch palm rejection.
كم سعرة بالعراق ?😊😊
Can it run google services by default?
I lost complete interest in this tablet after the no video out issue and the no SD card slot limitation
I just need huawei to release a sim card version (lte)
Лучший экран с минимальным PWM
Video out, backlit keyboard and snapdragon 8 gen 3... would be a massive banger.
Sure would be, hopefully they can release a revised version next year with that.
3 mics on the same side?
Those thin bezels seem more like a nuisance than a positive aspect. Do people really don’t want something to grip on when using a tablet, and love that notch? 😂
Yes and no i've not really had any issues and most of the time I use it with the kickstand as a tablet of this size even if it's only 580 grams isn't something you'll be holding for too long. The touch rejection holding it also means there are no accidental touches.
Fugly notch, that's why I went for Sammy 9 + not ultra !
Unfortunately, no word on how the tablet works with an external monitor/screen.
Using for a week, wow.
Great specs but no official android support is a let down. i would have buy it.
Its android tho just not the way you think.. Only google with vanilla version while other brand with their own custom OS. Same as huawei
Samsung says: keep my beer !
no device can beat the Huawei screen.
lol finnally someone give a proper battery test, another just like "the battery is about x hours", very subjective
Play store?
That's $98 in my country
Can i install notion?
Doesn't look like it's coming to the UK sadly :(
The score is that because antutu can't recognize the huawei GPU isn't a Mali.
Hello,
What is the resolution on netflix?
SD unfortunately they are not registering that L1 cert yet. The same happened to the old model, but a few months later was working at 1080p.
OK, thank you for your response. Your video makes me want to buy it
How long can I use the pen without connecting it to the tablet?
Oh for like 14 hours or days. I barely use battery life with it.
Looks quite good, but in the tablets market, IPad pro still the king!
Yes iPad Pro is still the top dog.
lol your funny
Nope. Samsung, with SD Gen 2 and super - amoled is the King !
@@victormarian7889 Nop, IPad still bit better
Hi, quick question. Does this tablet has emui desktop mode?
Unfortunately no.
damn....its cool
Chris please we want the matepad air 11.5 🙏💐
You're not the first or the last to ask. Okay I will reach out to Huawei and ask if they get send one to me to review.
Any chance of you reviewing the upcoming minisforum v3?
Sure if they send me a review unit.
No video out over the USB-C is an instant no for me. I wonder whether it will appeal because of using it's own Harmony OS, with no Android support. Then you still have the fallout from the US ban.
It would need to be very keenly priced to succeed outside of it's native country and based on the prices given, I think it will fail quickly.
Such as shame as I still love my Mate 20 Pro phone.
It's a shame the tough position they are in. As for the prices it's more than I guess it would be but they will drop, just wait and see they always do end up coming right down after a few months.
I doubt whatapps is able to work on this tablet.
it works but not as the main device. Use APK file for the install and QR to login and it work fine.
16:44 That’s 1440p, you shouldn’t do highest quality, bcus I think that’s still auto. I’ve you do advanced, then it does really let you choose highest
Okay
I was gonna say this. Advanced is the one that gives you options, not the first three.
Still a bit pity that in terms of innovation, there still isn’t always-on LTPO display, and also 15W Qi2 wireless charging + multi gigabits/s, low latency, 60Ghz 802.11ay wireless docking functionalities : it would be VERY useful innovation that would bring a lot of convenience !!!
Bro did you even watch the video?
It is the first tablet to come with this kind of screen(just from looking at it you can tell that it's different)
The keyboard is wireless
The pen has no latency
It has very good camera (if not one of the best in a tablet after apple)
I think you should rewatch the video
Don't think he did or doesn't understand.
@@innocentanthony3324 Sure, I am not denying that, there is indeed some nice features, but not much really disruptive if I could say. There already exist a tablet with wireless keyboard (Robo & Kala), and Samsung Galaxy Tab 9 Ultra is waterproof with a a very nice OLED display. The tablet is nice, I just happen to think that in terms of priority, always-on LTPO OLED display, and Qi2 wireless charging + multi-gigabit would enable really new use cases, not yet done by any other brand…

the video quality on youtube did not max out at 1080 p, if you notice at the last moment it switched to 1440 P, so it was only dependent on the quality of the video itself. I´m guessing it will go up to 4k no problem. I do it on my mate x3 with gbox as well without an issue.
Can we install other os in matepad? like- windows, linux, chrome os, andorid custom rom, etc...
No we can't.
@@TechtabletsHi, Can you please compare it with Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra???
The size is ridiculous. At this point might as well get a proper laptop. Tablets should just be around 8-10 inches thats the point why people get tablets rather than a bulky pc laptop
I would say the same but using the Tab S9 Ultra which is like a laptop and a monster of I think I find this lighter and slightly smaller tablets much better. Depends on what you want I often using it on a desk with the keyboard for answering emails and what not.
