Can't write with enough emphasis to explain how great it is to see more videos. I was a young kid at the time EQ was out. (Begging my parents to use their credit card, etc.) I remember being totally floored that people would get married online, in a game. Regardless, this brings me back to this magical mysterious era of gaming. Thanks for the enjoyment by proxy!
One of the amazing things about this game was how everyone could get in on the economy. Even a level 1 collecting bone chips has a way of creating value from what they're fighting. Or it's pelt, runes/pages, quest items people use to PL their new chars... you could get decent stuff if you put in the effort.
lol dude this reminds me of when I made an iksar monk, and at level 5ish ran my ass all the way to gfay and crushbone. Getting to, and onto the boat in FV....died at least 15 times making that trip...went there because crushbone groups were plenty, and it was hard af to find a group in cabilis areas.
Hey man, I just found out about p99 recently. So pissed I didn't know about it before, so many adventures missed! Haven't played EQ since 2003. Do you think it's to late to start a character? Would I still be able to join and find group and fun etc?
Not at all too late to start. The server has a very established economy so you will find that the levelling experience might not be purely classic because you will have access to very cheap gear and weapons from other players. There are still some good leveling guilds around the server and there are always groups to find if you look hard enough. My only suggestion is that if your play times are going to be during off-peak maybe pick a class that can get some soloing done if needed. But overall I would absolutely encourage you to check it out.
Flatts Awesome man thanks I'm pumped just trying to figure a good easy config for my first char that can solo I was thinking nek ench or some melee hyb that can solo hopping I can get some basic assistance gonna try to network with a guild, watched you series twice man was a lot of fun, cheers.
Another tip for getting rid of excess loose change.... Buy the precious jewels in this game. They weigh .1, you can have stacks of 20 of them, and you can resell them to a vendor, when you're close to a bank
I think one of eqs endearing traits is the lack of shortcuts lol. It feels more true to life than most other games. The fact that the world is dangerous, and the fact that traveling takes time, and that even 'bad' events like missing a 30 min boat can be a source of good vibes from appreciating a helping hand and also the satisfaction of 'OMG FINALLY' lol... theres real emotion to be had when facing real difficulties
It's interesting how every server had a different designated trade zone. East Commons tunnel was more a hangout on Tunare. The real trading zone was Greater Faydark. I remember being confused when I merged to Drinal and most of the trading was done in North Freeport in the tunnels.
Love the reuploads. Miss your intro though, were do i have to sign to get it back. Much love from Awfull, i got a shout-out in your pegasus cloak video :)
It was either an Adamantite Bo Stick or a Wu's Quivering Staff. I cant 100% remember but I know I did have both of those as 2hb weapons while I was levelling up. I seem to remember using the Bo Stick quite a lot but once you hit level 30 it starts to proc an area of effect damage spell and that became problematic so I've just had it sitting in my bank ever since.
just any merchants in the EC will have stuff from players? and how common do people sell to merchants instead of players? and are there other merchants to check?
All merchants all over the game can sometimes have little hidden treasures sold to them from other players. The reason people do this is because when you get to a certain point in the game, its almost not worth sitting in the EC tunnel trying to sell an item for 200p to another player when you can just vendor it for 50p and move onto something else that is more worth your time.
It's called dumpster diving. The bank in Freeport is a good area to check the merchants. Have to know your prices though. Sometimes vendors over value some gear and under value others
Hey Flatts! Never played EQ before and decided to give it a go, and follow your videos as well, having a blast! When you get to the boat you talk about flicking up onto the boat, what do you mean by this? I haven't been able to get a levitate, so just wondering how to do it. Thanks!
What I was doing was swimming under the boat as it moved past me and then hitting the page up key (this makes you swim upwards) to try and warp from under the boat to the top. This might be p99 specific but the way boats work on this server is they apply a levitate to you when you are standing on them, I don't know if that is what makes it possible. Either way it is very inconsistent, I had way more failed attempts than I did successful ones.
Pharis went north to the wall and joined the nights watch! Also never say never for the Everquesting Team. We would just have to wrangle that crazy wood elf to get things rolling again I imagine.

Level 9 with that gear and over 400pp. I must have been an absolute pauper when I played back in the day because that seems like a lot, hah.
vthings001 haha right. I feel like I never saw more then 10 plat for like first 6 months of playing
This is my 5th time watching this series in the past 2 months lol.

I remember standing in line with a group, waiting to kill orc centurions.
And drunk buff runs through the Commonlands, those were the days.
Man the Nostalgia with these Videos...

These vids are great! thanks for posting these. I cant wait to get back into Norrath...eq99 style :)
Behind the Jade - - > Tunnels - - > bazaar
I was hoping to see more eq 'adventures' than a walk through but i like it anyway
How is P99 today? Do many people still play?
I remember camping the guy near the water outside Qeynos to get that earring...his spawn rate was like once a day and not a guaranteed drop either!!
Hadden. Drops the Fishbone Earring.
@@whydoesithurtwhenIpee YES! I remembered the earring allowed you to breathe underwater, just couldn't remember the name lol.
Did you work on Freeport faction with the Death Fist belts?
Nope, I am still KoS in WFP but am dubious with the Paladins in NFP from doing stuff like killing guards and who knows what else.

Aren't fists stronger than any weapon for monks though? Why use the sticks? Or am I getting something wrong here?
Eventually, yes.
Is this project 99?

Great to see these videos in 2020 - i think the boat system was incredible in EQ, the game lost a significant factor when the PoK books arrived.
FLATTS! Good to see you back. I'm rewatching this whole series as you re-upload. Can't wait to see your new stuff when you get to it!
Thank you! I am very excited to show everyone what I have been up to in the last few months.
Sweet memories. Come back from being afk and see the boat pulling off..again
This video has rare footage of actual boat usage. We need someone to make videos on all the boat ride options. 😄 Doesn't that sound fun to do!
The barrel at the back of the Overthere boat is specifically designed to let the ikkys board easily. :) Can just run up to it onto the boat!
I just tried this tonight and couldn’t get on. I was spamming jump and still couldn’t do it. What am I missing?
love hearing the sounds of trading with vendors, brings back such memories and a sound I haven't heard in so long
Watched your series a few times. Excellent commentary 👍 nice voice
Just learned something... Sneak selling/quest from behind. :P
Oh man, Cazel and Sergeant Slate. Two names I haven't dreaded in a long time.
What a nostalgia trip!
Awesome video braw, I'm an OG player that's been gone a long time. Thanks for letting us tag along
I am really enjoying watching your vids.
Would love to see more EverQuest Classic Adventures!

I reemmber the tunnel being the auction house
I remember behind the jade being the AH before the tunnels.
Great videos man, thanks for putting these together.
to funny i remember those days oh to well , it was fun back then

oh wow. Xycro there was in my guild. I was Full Circle lol. Anyone else?
Dual wielding staves lmao
Very entertaining Flatts! Glad to see you back. What 2H are you using? I don't recall you mentioning that in the other episodes. I could be wrong.

come back!!!!!
that druid that crafted that gear for you named her character after a character from Magic: The Gathering. thats pretty cool :)
Did you notice this guy called her a "he" ? LOL... fucking sexist twit....
I wish I could be broke again on p99. I have over a million Plat now and the fun is gone
Great you are posting again, we really missed you

Flatts thx for the feedback : ) I would look you up on p99, but I don't have internet atm. budget is tight with my new place. but eventually : )

@@Flatts Ahh I gotcha, other than levitate and being lucky to get that to work, is there any other way to get on the boats that you know of?
Any chance the Everquesting Team will make a return? Pharis still awaits in Permafrost, ever vigilant ...
Pharis went north to the wall and joined the nights watch! Also never say never for the Everquesting Team. We would just have to wrangle that crazy wood elf to get things rolling again I imagine.
You will not evade me Shieldman!
@@Flatts lol I started a guild back in 2014 iirc called the nights watch(both a got reference and the fact that we played off hours). Good times
