Offshore Patrol Ships have to move fast while sailing further out to sea on patrol. Their role is to look and find out who's out there but not to engage in battle if they can avoid it. It doesn't need to carry heavy armaments, only enough to defend itself. So an 83-meter patrol ship will provide a good balance of speed, patrol endurance, and sea-keeping abilities for its role.
If only HHI can show willingness to support SRDP program of PH, probably CG variants of 107.5m Jose Rizal Class or 116m HDC-3100 can be built locally at much cheaper cost since there will be no much sensitive equipment and weaponry needed.

A long time coming but welcome developments in Philippines building ships. The country is an archipelago so it is a wonder why only now is it going into this venture. Not only is it necessary and logical, it is in the best interest for the country and its people. Shipping should in fact be number one transport system to make interisland travel cheap and practicable. It will also link the inhabitants closely with each other of the more than 7,000 islands there is to foster brotherhood and understanding.
