- Some tracks from Flatout have been added to wreckfest, and while the nostalgia hit is great, they are actually really very good to race around.

On the third track, just before the corner to the ramp there was a alley shortcut that bypasses that part. So sneaky!

any chance you're working on flatout 2 tracks ?
@@budycelyn Nope, i have no intentions on porting FO2. Just porting all of FO1 tracks took me months while i was working on it daily. I might look into it later if i happen to have the time for it but no promises

Somebody else recently ported the canal tracks from FlatOut 2, but it's only these so far.
There could be a Wreckfest-type game where the focus is on breaking stuff. It could be Breakfest.

Destruction Derby was a fun game on PS2, i believe.
Had the FlatOut OST playing in my head the whole time watching this video. And the whole time you were hitting stuff in the environment, my neurons were screaming NITROOOO! at me.
As for the truck ramp, its not for jumping or time, but to collect nitro for speeeeeed!
I think it's a sign of the times that the two games on my old laptop were Gta V and Flat Out 2 and the 2 games on my current laptop are Gta V and Wreckfest. 😅

From discussions during streams, Alex had a massive/silly idea for the big 500th, so massive it took ages to prepare, and now the new computer doing the rendering conked out :( so it will be a while probably
If this can be done on multiplyaer, love to see Alex and the FailRace crew go at it on these tracks!
it already is, search for Revline Flatout all class in wreckfest, all you need to connect is the mod.
Ideas for new videos/challenges:
1) Any vehicle, any spec, has to be 1/1 power to weight E.G 1000kg 1000 hp
2) Unconventional rally/track cars E.g vehicles that aren't suitable for rally or race
3) Change the 1 upgrade per race series so if you win the FR crew pick your upgrade p2 gets no upgrade and p3 gets 1 upgrade ect therefore any strategy is useless
4) Combine escape the police with survive the planes. Alex needs to get from point A to point B whilst the FR crew start in police cars and steadily move to planes as time progresses in a police chase type game mode

Wreckfest + Logic... does not compute.
Fairgrounds short cut turn 1 needs to be opened right after the start when you don't have the speed of the full straight yet, but it pays dividents every future lap
06:00 the red bars were still hard on your car, they could and would damage your engine

I used to love Flatout. Now I'm waiting for the release of Wreckfest 2. I haven't played much Wreckfest lately, but I'll try these Flatout tracks for sure.
I haven't played Wreckfest for a long time because PlayStation said, "Remember that game we let you hold for about 69 days, Rackfeast? Yeah, I'm going to need that back because my cousin wants to get back into it."

Favorite part about flatout was trying to hit as much "track furniture" as possible for maximized money while winning the race.❤
That failed shortcut in the beginning of the snow track definitely worked in the original game
The shortcuts are a neat concept. Like Wreckfest meets Zeepkist.

I remember flat out I used to play it all the time and most of the vehicles from flat out it’s in Wreckfest but Wreckfest they did add other cars too. That’s what really blew my mind. I played this on my tablet, but if I download Xbox season pass, I can play it online.
I can assure you the shortcuts weren't any easier to take in FlatOut. Every track had multiple shortcuts that either needed to be opened before it could be taken without losing speed in the next laps, or were extremely dangerous and would only gain you half a second or so. That's what makes them fun.

I almost wanna fo and play some flatout so i can remember these tracks.
I remember reading a review of Flatout after I'd been playing it for a while as a kid and the review said "For a game called 'Flatout' you spend an awful lot of time hitting your brakes." and I remember thinking that I'd never heard anything so true about a racing game.
Great! i used to play Flat Out quite a bit. Also revenge on AI is always satisfying :D
I got FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage just a couple of months ago on the old xbox360. It still is a lot of fun!
i think flatout 2 was the first game i bought for my new ps2 when i was a kid
blast from the past there, i wonder if flatout 2 tracks will be made for wreckfest? i spent so much time in that game.
Hopefully they bring back these kind of tracks to wreckfest 2, as well as the boost mechanic to help burst through the debris like in flatout/burnout
Whitefish Lake is definitely a favorite to race on. Chaining those shortcuts together kept you leagues ahead of the original AI
Driving thru that house under construction in the original was always a risk. You had to straight line it, otherwise, you found an immovable light pole

I love how these tracks are bringing new people tons of fun over 20 years after they were designed, Bugbear were responsible for an amazing timeless pair of games in the series.
Ah yes, this takes me back. The original FlatOut was great fun, but very challenging (at least for me). It was possibly the first game that made me rage quit. Memories of many, many crashes came back to me during this video.
Play some Flatout 2 with the lads, the game was updated a few months ago and now multiplayer is on the table without extra hassle.
Failrace i would love to see you play one of my old time favorites. its a ps2 game ( so youll need a ps2 emulator PCSX2 is what i recommend) called Destruction Derby Arena. Despite its name it is a Demo Derby Racing game its not just Destruction derby bowls. Its racing and Arenas. Absolute banger of a game from back in the day!
In all regards cars and computer drivers are a lot more realistic than Flatout. One big wreck and it was almost impossible to get first place on Flatout
FlatOut 2 had a lot of the destructible street furniture for visual flair. FlatOut 1 was more like wreckfest where street furniture could really screw you over, so the 'track evolution' aspect of things was very much real in that game too. Even more than Wreckfest, the game had realistic suspension damage. Take a few jumps too hard or attack curbs too often and you'd blow your shocks and the car would start jouncing everywhere, ruining your cornering ability. The AI would never consistently take shortcuts, so you'd want to hit them all on lap 1 to get the street furniture dealt with as fast as possible.
As for that Wattahoo Town circuit, others have already mentioned the fruitstand alley shortcut but you can actually cut behind that armco that kept catching you out, assuming you thread the needle through the trees instead. At least, that wasn't out-of-bounds in the original. It also has a Dukes of Hazzard reference with an orange muscle car stopped by a cop car in the middle of the road towards the last corner. Around that area you can actually cut through the front lawns of the houses and combine that with the alley shortcut to go totally straight through that section and cut like 3 corners totally out of the equation.
Alex needs to take a fence to that van.

If I remember correctly, jumping and destroying things powered up your turbo in Flat Out, so there was even more incentive to take all the crazy routes. They did slow you down a lot less, as Alex noted - but he asks at one point about the wisdom of taking some of the jumps. Turbo power! I won a lot of race blasting across the finish line, just catching the leader with the help of the turbo.
There really wasn't a reason to take jumps in flatout 1. Jumping didn't fill your boost, only ramming other drivers or street furniture did. All jumping got you was cool points, blown shocks and a trashed engine. There were only one or two worth taking, like the bridge on the ice level that jumps over the ice chicane.
Flatout 2 added the ability to earn boost from jumps and removed most of the first game's heavy damage penalty for taking them. It also made the street furniture generally a lot lighter so you could crash through it with less consequence. Unless you found one of the handful of recycled flatout 1 props they forgot to change the weight of.

I really can't understand why you play a game that gives you points for killing other cars but you try to race cleanly?
Wreckfest is built by the same dev as Fallout and Fallout 2. As well as being built on the same engine.
