If some guy comes along who makes a 20 year career out of spamming threes and averaging 30+ ppg against non-existent defense that's a different story.

      possible, we're asking him to play another 10 years though lol. I'm looking at his career season totals, in his prime younger days he used to score about 2000 points per season due to him playing more games.
      During his Lakers career where he plays less games due to load management, he's averaging about 1500 or less per season. So if he were to stay at his current pace right now that's another 8 years or so to hit 50K.
      Would be amazing to see it happen though, it would put his record at such a high mark

      LeBron got twice as many turnovers as Kareem as well. Just sayin. Basketball is a complicated game in a sense. Different positions, different teammates, different eras.
      I think Kareem wanted his teammates to be able to make plays so that they could be championship caliber. If Jabbar at age 35+ could have probably scored 30 a game but if he had to do that he understood the Lakers wouldn't win in June.

    Just to clarify Wilt chamberlain NBA record - Fewest games played to reach 20,000 points (499, achieved in 1966)
    That's just over six seasons to achieve this achievement, if you consider that Wilt routinely made a occasional 40 or 50 points to shut up sports broadcasters because they said he was no longer able to score offensively compared to his early years!
    Wilt changed his game not to (stat pad) as people wrongly claimed but to overthrow the celtics dynasty and win some titles!
    If Wilt had scored at that same rate for his 13 plus years, that's over 40,000 points?
    If he had went back into the nba and played until he was 50 he would have easily set a stat that no one could have matched? 50,000 even 60,000 offensive points?
    Wilt was so dominant that it makes him untouchable in the game of basketball, and as a result, it makes him not count.
    Wilt did have a beef with Kareem because he believed rightly that Kareem had more to give both offensively and more importantly in a area that Wilt excelled in defence?

    • @eternalbossdoomsday
      @eternalbossdoomsday Рік тому

      Yeah Wilt only spent half of his career as his team's lead shot taker and then he accepted a different role. Before he accepted the new role he was averaging 40 pts per game in season and 33 in the playoffs.

    • @the_Sage71
      @the_Sage71 11 місяців тому

      Kareem played the game on a higher mental level than Wilt. Abdul-Jabbar played for John Wooden. He understood that he could score 50 pts at will but that is not the best way to win as a team.
      Wilt's ego could never allow him to see Kareem never cared to take every shot so he could achieve personal glory at the expense of team balance.
      Abdul-Jabbar was able to balance being the #1 option scoring while also keeping his teammates involved. He knew the double team was coming, find the open man.
      Wilt was jealous of Kareem plain and simple. Who had more to give? I don't know. Too late to ask any one of the coaches Chamberlain got fired after feuding with them. Or asking to come out of the game in game 7 of the Finals.
      Jabbar MVP of the finals at 38 years old. At 41 years old in 1988 Chamberlain was in attendance but he left early that day and missed Kareem sinking the game winming free throws to keep the series alive.
      You wouldnt pass the ball to Wilt with the game on the line. That's OK because he didn't want the ball. Jerry West was the heart of that team.

    • @the_Sage71
      @the_Sage71 11 місяців тому

      @@eternalbossdoomsdaySo it took him 7 years to finally accept that basketball is a team game? Better late than never. Jabbar was the #1 option for his teams as well for over 17 years. He had the same pressure to produce that Wilt had but Jabbar handled the pressure rather than running away from it. There were playoff games Chamberlain hardly looked at the basket. He couldn't be trusted to hit free throws. All told despite playing with so many Hall of Fame teammates Wilt only won 2 championships.
