If I owned the land this tree was on I would never cut it down unless I was sick but the owner has every right to do what ever they feel is right on their property and I'm sure it will live on with something beautiful they will make with it

Beautiful wood but I hate that that tree was chopped down because it is so old unless it was dying already.

I have a few health and safety issues watching this. Holy shit ,one guy basically crawling under it whilt its held by that flimsy chains that look to small to lift that load. Looks over 5 tons for sure. And bare feet with a chainsaw. And their slinging work is so dodgy. 😂😂😂

that tree has been around for so long .. survived so much and yet could not survive man that concerns me and i'm not a tree hugger .. i do believe we need to be responsible...
I know it will be appreciated at some work of wood art but was it worth the loss of such a carbon eating machine? for the sake of being something we mill.
We have so much to recycle and figure out and put to use rather than fill land fills..
THIS IS a beautiful piece but its a sad loss as well

      Absolutely agree.
      This is terrible.
Humans, why are we like this? Greed? Selfish entitlement?
I'm sure it's valuable and will be made into something of beauty but was that needed or even necessary?
This is why people who find special things never reveal the location or some fiercely protect nature.
What will be left for future generations.

Try some water on the saw band when you're cutting. Keeps it from smoking the blade on bigger cuts

@@EnduringTimbereraft Why you dont plant new trees of this species? in 1650-1750 the german monarcs plantet by law a lot of Oak, Acorn, Beech, Birch, Ash ,now we can harvest good quality trees. And for every tree we take, we plant 5 new ( some doesnd grow that big) so we have all time new trees. You should do the same.

Yeah. If they had a sense of humor, they would show these barefoot lumberjacks in action, then pan over to the side with 3 or 4 of them in lawn chairs with their feet all bandaged up chainsaw lying on the ground near their chairs. Just saying. Good fun, but they probably don't think so.

Felling Old Rare Trees for Tasteless Furniture…
The gold probably goes to the lady in the lovely Vietnamese dress, the Ao Dai. Asians have absolutely no right to cast aspersions on the West for climate change violations when the felling of these irreplaceable old and rare trees goes on in broad daylight.
Indonesia, home to 10-15% of the world’s plants, birds and mammals still burns huge swaths of virgin equatorial rain forests. “… in the last half century, more than 74 million hectares of Indonesian rainforest-an area twice the size of Germany-have been logged, burned, or degraded. Up to 80% is done illegally” according to Greenpeace. To down such beautiful rare trees to turn them into tasteless chairs is a crying shame, but a sin no less even if made into beautiful pieces.
A world driven by a $$$ bottom line is a world that’s suicidally dooming itself to a point of no return❗️
If we want to be different from the West, let’s start right here, right now‼️
