    Nice video thank you very much ! Overall what are your thoughts on a tube microphone vs a Solid state microphones into a Tube Preamp ?

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud
      @JonIsJustTooLoud  4 роки тому

      It depends on the quality of the solid state mic and the Tube preamp. I've had good results from a Neumann U87 but then it's an expensive mic. 🤓✌

    • @Jason_Music
      @Jason_Music 4 роки тому

      @@JonIsJustTooLoud thanks for the quick reply. I mean like on the cheaper side obviously. But seem that you can t really tweak or decide how much tube you want to blend with the tube microphone... But you can certainly tweak that with the tube preamp. So i wonder the difference you get. Thanks man i appreciate it !

    Very helpful review, i just bought the sct 2000 and it has a nice bright and clear sound. Do you use a micshield? I haven't got a proper room for rehearsals covered with absorbers etc and I have a lot of feedback when I raise the gain on the mixer. My speakers are behind the sct2000 but it is a very sensitive mic and gets a lot of feedback in my room. Do you think a mic shield would help ? Thanks

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud
      @JonIsJustTooLoud  2 роки тому +1

      @@JonIsJustTooLoud Thank you, I will !! Iam also thinking of replacing the china 12AX7B tube (amp factor 100) with a JJ-12AT7 (amp factor 60) or a Genalex gold lion 12AT7 tube. Some sct-2000 reviews in Thomann claim big improvement in sound putting a JJ-12AT7. Also most people consider the Genalex 12AT7 superior to the JJ 12AT7. What do you think of this?

    • @CirclesandSounds
      @CirclesandSounds Рік тому

      @@TheExangelus perceived changes are based only on loudness and psychoacoustics. There is scientific proof that replacing a tube is not an improvement to the sound of what it was designed for. People will argue this for eternity, because there are always those who reject the fact that everything humans can hear can be easily measured. I’ve heard all the arguments at this point... but as an audio scientist, recordist, and mastering engineer who designs mics and speakers as well... this is my 20 cents 🙂

    Hi Jon i love the sound of my sct 2000 but i want a stage mic close to that sound. Do you think a neumann kms105 would be close. Personally my shure beta 58a compared sounds like being under a blanket and my beta87a very thin and harsh. Neither of these compares to the sct 2000 sound. So do you think kms105 or some other stage mic goes close?

  • @bobcorn
    @bobcorn 5 років тому +1

    Hello Jonathan, nice video and singing!
    A question about this microphone and speech - do you think the microfone can handle consonants like "s" and "sh" without sounding strange? Did you ever have problems with that on the SCT 2000?

    • @JonIsJustTooLoud
      @JonIsJustTooLoud  5 років тому +2

      The sibilance can be managed if you have a great pre amp... Or recording techniques.. The mic itself is not overly bright or sharp to initiate runaway sibilance..

    Hello Jonathan, how are you? so i was attracted a few weeks ago by these videoso n the T bone mics and i ended up buying the SCT2000. i just got it and i have to say, its awesome but i find it it introduces this white noise rumble from 0 to 200Hz.....and it just stays there... is this the same for you on your side? if you use it with the a graphic EQ you will even see it pop up like crazy. kinda makes it a little unusable i think.

    No EQ at all? What pre-amps(s). Sounds surprisingly good for such a cheap tube mic! How is it on mid-lows and lowend? So totally works if it's not the best for those applications. Really sweet mid-range and smooth highs. You are doing a low cut on the guitar though, correct? Honestly though ... I'm not listening on any sort of critical listening system right now.

    The artist inside you is impressive! It's like beauty and the beast, you are not very handsome or attractive, but if you were you would be a world star, there you have the reflection, society wants idols that are pleasing to the eye, a cruel philosophy that relegates great masters to oblivion for apparent handsome icons! But it is evident that you are touched by the true Gods of art. The opposite happens to me: I am very handsome and attractive but I have no voice or talent for music! God should have merged us into one person and we would have achieved glory! Although achieving glory is valuing and recognizing great artists like you!
