I just realized the Luxury Party trailer gives a bit of San Myshuno/apartment vibes 👀 (Also realized the items and trailers are improved a lot over the years fortunately 😄😋)
i remember being SO excited when outdoor retreat came out and then so SO utterly disappointed when i looked at luxury party stuff,,,, like, half the price for like, a quarter of the content/gameplay as the game pack, and granted i was like 10/11 at the time so my opinions weren't that great but being 19 now luxury party stuff is still one of the only stuff packs i don't think i will ever own (unless they give it to us for free like they did with my first pet stuff)
Tbh, I know that people say it doesn't come with much stuff but luxury party stuff is the 13th biggest stuff pack in terms of items with 53 items so it may not come with any gameplay if you own my weddings stories or high school years but it comes with like nearly two kits worth of CAS items. As well as that, spooky stuff is the 2nd biggest pack in terms of items with 70 items with the biggest being kids room stuff with 71 items. (I counted the items to the stuff packs not including downsized hairs to other life stages and different wall height for light bc they are basically just the same object otherwise Paranormal stuff would be tied with kids room stuff.) The smallest stuff pack is perfect patio stuff with 44 items.
I really like that male spiky hair form Luxury Party, it’s honestly my favorite hair in the game and besides the completionist aspect of owning all the packs, it’s the only other reason I wanted that pack, it’s the only thing I actually use from it
I think it would be so fun to see reactions to the old game and expansion packs! This was fun :] and I liked hearing about the drama when the older ones were released (that you remember)
I actually happen to LOVE the Moschino stuff pack ! It may be a controversial thing but... I love the gameplay that goes with it, all the build buy stuff (the WINDOOOOOOWS), AND I love a lot of the cas. I don't use all the cas all the time, let's be honest. But I use it still, like statement pieces. Same with the fitness stuff pack, wich I use constantly for the earbuds. And also for the buildbuy, in my modern houses.
As someone who just got back into the sims in the last several years and wasn’t around for a lot of those releases, this was super interesting to watch!
The weird thing is that get to work have a photography studio object but it doesnt function well. You cant even change the poses. They ignored that and released a whole new pack just for the photo thing.
It’d be fun to see your reactions to any of the trailers for earlier sims games! Like if you think trailers have come a long way since early sims 4 days, just look at some sims 3 trailers! It’s WILD how different they were
I don't care about Moschino as a brand but I do love the stuff in the pack and use it all the time, same with Diesel for The Sims 3. At least my sims have money to buy fancy brands, even if I don't 😂
i would LOVE something similar to the diesel pack for the sims 4! with stationary cars you can fix up and that nice retro style, itd be the DREAM! im also a big fan of the moschino pack, but i also like photography irl 😅 i like setting up photo studios for my artsy sims
This was actually a really fun video, I just loved to sit down and watch simsie chat, even if I disagreed with a few things. I'd love to see more stuff like this.
Being an old time simmer (I was an adult when the original Sims came out, so emphasis on "old"), I wasn't even watching UA-cam or any social media when Sims 3 or 4 originally released. I actually bought the physical games on CD-ROM and downloaded them to my computer, then had to input the code on the jewel case to validate it. I didn't see any trailers or anything for many years, probably not until around the time Seasons released.
I think I remember that in 2014/2015, there wasn’t as much of a ~chronically online~ sims community nor was it as much of a thing to follow brands and companies on social media like it is today. Idk if it makes sense but my memory is also that youtube/forums/twitter etc were all kinda separate and there wasn’t this cohesive and global conversation carried out from one platform to the next? Like now we watch trailers live on youtube then go tweet our excitement (or lack thereof sometimes), then we deepen the convo in threads or forums etc… and yeah we were just so starved for any kind of new content at the beginning that the luxury party pack was still exciting 😅
i remember i was sooooo mad when cool kitchen and spooky stuff came out bc i had just gotten luxury party and my mom wouldnt let me get any more 🥲 and i was like what the heck luxury party isnt as cool as having ice cream!!! or halloween!!!!
It's so interesting to see these type of videos because I got into Sims 4 only in 2020 and have actually bought many of these older packs fairly recently 😅
Did anyone else love Moschino stuff?! I actually don’t think it was that weird, I think the Sims has a really big split between teenagers and people in their later 20s/ early 30s. So I don’t think it was that weird. I mean if Star Wars was a thing the fashion girls deserved a pack. 😂 Never bought anything from mochino but I think a lot of girls in that age group have at least purchased a luxury perfume, or makeup item. I mean look in this past year the dior lip oil was all over TikTok. I don’t think luxury party stuff was bad. At the time we had like no formal wear. Also, the catering table was exclusive to that pack back then. The only thing that was terrible about it was the make up. I think the issue is we just outgrow things, because newer things come along.
I was a solid TS3 player until 2020 and watched the development of TS4 with wary interest. The prevailing feeling about Stuff Packs at the time was mostly positive because we were comparing it to the TS3 store. Stuff Packs started coming out at a pretty fast pace and we just thought that instead of the store and its $1 per hairstyle we would pay $10 for a pack of 5 hairs, 20 clothing items, 20 build/buy pieces and 1-2 functional objects. The feeling was that people would just get the things that appealed to them and it would be more granular than previous games in the franchise. The problem is that the base game was really barren and to have fun you basically had to get packs. Experiencing the TS4 basegame during one of those free weekends in 2016 convinced me that I didn't want it.
Thanks Kayla for the sims videos. It makes me want to play mine more 😊 I recently deleted all my saves & sims because I needed to restart after a year 😮
Lil simsie saying the first stuff pack came out in 2015 which is WAY before she started making sims videos but her first video was 7 years ago which was 2015 is so funny. Shows how we really forget how recent that was
Each of the early stuff packs have like one or two items that I really really love, but the more recent ones are filled with items that I love having in my game!
I was watching the live stream of the Island Living event as it aired and I will never forget the silence that followed the Moschino announcement for as long as I live!!
I honestly love to bowl because it was something I grew up doing with family then doing it as a team sport in high school and in a league. I honestly haven't used the bowling stuff pack that often. I probably need to revisit now that growing together rec center are a thing.
When LilSimsie said she thinks Luxury Party Stuff is one of the worst things ever released, there's One thing that tops it. My first pet Cashgra *Cough* My First Pet Stuff *Violent Cough*
I've been watching simsie since her first channel and followed her here and this video was a trip down memory lane! I remember all these controversies very vividly. I feel like most of the tension comes from people arguing about HOW angry we should be at EA, not necessarily if the anger is justified or not, which I think is funny. Like we were all angry just to different degrees. There's always tension in the sims community about what EA is or isn't doing so that makes sense. And there were always defenders of the stuff packs as well (except My First Pet Stuff, NO ONE defended that). Some stuff packs just aren't to people's tastes which makes sense, like I really like the items in the fitness pack and use them often. I think Moschino also had a lot of defenders early on because when they actually showed the items and the photography skill, people were more impressed. Now I use it all the time in builds! I also remember the controversy when they brought the hot tubs to base game which I still agree was a mistake. People specifically bought a pack for that gameplay feature and then it was unexpectedly brought to base game, that feels unfair to consumers. Seeing simsie react to the backyard stuff pack trailer made me smile so much! I remember when she got that pack code and was so excited to build a blue suburban with that picket fence (also recently when she streamed that Victorian house build and added the steamboat ❤). Anyways, I'm glad stuff packs are back because paranormal really showed how much value for money they can offer. I have a feeling this one will be good too, especially if they nail the food selling aspect.
Watching this is making me realize just how long I've been watching your channel, like, I remember you talking about your hatred of bowling and your Black Widow challenge.
From what I remember, there wasn't a huge backlash to Luxury Party stuff at the time. I think it was because it was the first Stuff Pack, so we didn't really know what to expect. The first, like, two years of the Sims 4 gives me "flying the plane while we build it" energy, in that they knew what big hits to bring back (Seasons, Pets, etc.) but didn't know how to market new packs to fit this new game. They also didn't know what the price points should be for Stuff Packs vs. Game Packs vs. Expansion Packs. I feel like the new Home Chef Hustle pack will be big since it's the return to Stuff Packs, but whatever the next Stuff Pack is will back off a bit in terms of items and gameplay.
You and I are the same age, Kayla, so I don't have many memories of the early packs either, at least criticism-wise, but I remember SO VIVIDLY the uproar over Spooky Stuff... people kept joking that they weren't going to do Seasons and were instead going to do a stuff pack for each season instead... oh the good (?) old days
I actually like luxury party stuff . I just bought it recently cause i was desperate for sparkly cas for my taylor swift world. And i really love the buffet table. I also wish they could revamp it and add some more sparkly cas and build items
I refused to play The Sims 4 without toddlers or ghosts. I didn't even start considering getting the game until they announced them. Then I didn't have money to get the game because I also needed a computer. So I watched UA-cam channels like this one for ages before I had the resources to get a laptop. I still remember the first lilsimsie video I watched was the collab she did where she built a San Francisco painted lady because I was obsessed with them back then. So I don't remember the early stuff. But I do remember the mermaid pack live stream reveal because it was the first pack I bought on release at full price. (I would actually say that almost 90% of my sims 4 content was purchased while it was on sale. lol) And I remember being very excited for the first two reveals and how awkward and disappointing the mosquito reveal was. And how stark the contrast was for the reactions during each. I also remember thinking they were insane to release merch through the clothing company that was so expensive that I couldn't even bring myself to entertain the thought of buying some of it. I'm really hoping that the upcoming merch line is much more affordable so I might actually be able to get something.
Imagine being Kayla's mom, buying your daughter a lil silly stuff pack for her new hobby making UA-cam videos and then 8 years later she is loved all over the world and has helped raise millions for children with cancer. It's insane what like can bring, and you can never expect it.
Be be honest the I loved the luxury party trailer, and based on that I remember being excited about it, but I didn't buy the Sims 4 until 2019, and I now judge packs based on you and other creators playing with them. Honestly I prefer the old style of trailers, they always made me want to play Sims, even if now I know they didn't have that much in them (for me, it was all new, because I didn't play Sims 4).
There is one thing I'll give Luxury Party stuff. Because I have it, there are more things served at Copperdale's proms than Roast Chicken. (My Wedding Stories also offers additional buffet food) Also, yeah, I would not upgrade from the Sims 4 to whatever Sims 5 will be until Seasons comes out. (And honestly, I don't know about Project Rene at this point)
I remember thinking that Luxury Party was ok, but didn’t think I would use it regularly in game. Especially the CAS, there are some dresses that used to be formalwear stapes but especially the menswear I find unusable
I sadly am not a kid, nor was I one when Luxury Party Stuff came out. My first reaction was, "Well if this is what is popular now, I really am old because with the exception of one or two of the outfits I was like - eww" but I have been using CC since Sims 3 and when I launched into Sims 4 - I latest maybe a month before I started downloading CC for it. So, to me most of the EA clothes cannot compare to the stuff made by CC creators BUT I was hyped for the buffet table!
Tbh I only got MFPS for the aquarium table loool Paranormal is def my fave, I voted for it in the polls before when they were asking what people want (while a lot of people voted for laundry stuff). I'm so happy they actually did it!
Please can you do a video comparing the size of the packs head to head- like oldest ones of each category to newest ones of each category; and compare the size of an old stuff pack to a new kit, the newest stuff packs to the oldest game packs, the newest game packs to the oldest expansions etc. I want to see what passed as what over time 🥰 also obv bonus points if the pack comes with a new woohoo and/or death.

This was a very fun video! I enjoyed the look back at the old trailers, but I also can't lie... I love seeing the kittens pop up and cause a little ruckus. :'D
I just realized the Luxury Party trailer gives a bit of San Myshuno/apartment vibes 👀
(Also realized the items and trailers are improved a lot over the years fortunately 😄😋)
i remember being SO excited when outdoor retreat came out and then so SO utterly disappointed when i looked at luxury party stuff,,,, like, half the price for like, a quarter of the content/gameplay as the game pack, and granted i was like 10/11 at the time so my opinions weren't that great but being 19 now luxury party stuff is still one of the only stuff packs i don't think i will ever own (unless they give it to us for free like they did with my first pet stuff)
It’s pretty incredible to me that they deleted the My First Pet Stuff trailer. What’s the point of deleting it? We know what happened guys.
I really like that male spiky hair form Luxury Party, it’s honestly my favorite hair in the game and besides the completionist aspect of owning all the packs, it’s the only other reason I wanted that pack, it’s the only thing I actually use from it
Ballpit-gate was so iconic
I thought she was saying "I used to be sooo Anti-Bullying" and I was like 👀... 'th-that's a good stance, what changed?'
PLEASE do more old trailer reactions, this was so much fun!!
Actually the Luxury Party stuff pack’s costume is so good for a Prom. Hmmmm.
...and Kelsey's been using that Buffet Table to feed her sims for the 100 Baby Challenge.
As someone who just got back into the sims in the last several years and wasn’t around for a lot of those releases, this was super interesting to watch!
Same!
This was such a fun video! Would love more videos like this to do with old trailers and the history of the game, it was so comforting
Okay but the photography additions in mosquito were game-changing for me 😆
The weird thing is that get to work have a photography studio object but it doesnt function well. You cant even change the poses. They ignored that and released a whole new pack just for the photo thing.
@@augusto7681 I bought get yo work FOR the camera 😆
Can I just say, I really enjoy the intonation in the beginning of every vid where she descends in pitch on every vowel
I love watching old trailers I don’t know why I always watch old film trailers
It’d be fun to see your reactions to any of the trailers for earlier sims games! Like if you think trailers have come a long way since early sims 4 days, just look at some sims 3 trailers! It’s WILD how different they were
I loved the nostalgia walk through old trailers! And the void babies!
How did I not know that you can upgrade the hot tub with a stereo! Should probably read the info box on the other trailers, what else have I missed 🙃
This is so fun, pls do it again
Like now we watch trailers live on youtube then go tweet our excitement (or lack thereof sometimes), then we deepen the convo in threads or forums etc… and yeah we were just so starved for any kind of new content at the beginning that the luxury party pack was still exciting 😅
the bowling pack is unironically one of my favorites. i love building bowling alleys
i remember i was sooooo mad when cool kitchen and spooky stuff came out bc i had just gotten luxury party and my mom wouldnt let me get any more 🥲 and i was like what the heck luxury party isnt as cool as having ice cream!!! or halloween!!!!
“Still an embarrassing comment but not as bad as weird bowling stories” funniest comment ever 😂
“I was a senior in high school talking like that 😬🙄” oof I felt that 😂
It's so interesting to see these type of videos because I got into Sims 4 only in 2020 and have actually bought many of these older packs fairly recently 😅
Experiencing the TS4 basegame during one of those free weekends in 2016 convinced me that I didn't want it.
my first pet stuff was traumatising enough but the fact that IT RELEASED ON MY BIRTHDAY????? i was betrayed my the sims team.
Thanks Kayla for the sims videos. It makes me want to play mine more 😊 I recently deleted all my saves & sims because I needed to restart after a year 😮
Not me yelling “CAT ON THE BOOKSHELF CAT ON THE BOOKSHELF” 😂😂😂
Lil simsie saying the first stuff pack came out in 2015 which is WAY before she started making sims videos but her first video was 7 years ago which was 2015 is so funny. Shows how we really forget how recent that was
Each of the early stuff packs have like one or two items that I really really love, but the more recent ones are filled with items that I love having in my game!
How can I focus on the video when theres two cutest creatures having so much fun in the background?
Moschino stuff pack is amazing imo
Build/buy, gameplay, new career
I never care about CAS so no complaints from me at all
kayla we literally LOVE IT when the cats are in your videos!!
omg yall THIS IS THE TEA im sat
OMG yes I remember the wedding venue in one of deli’s LPs? I can’t remember if it was twins or barbie, I forgot how much I loved those videos
Watching this is making me realize just how long I've been watching your channel, like, I remember you talking about your hatred of bowling and your Black Widow challenge.
omg I NEED to rewatch the black widow challenge 😭
I love this! You should go back and react to the game pack trailers.
7:56 Kayla watched "I'm just ken" she just like us fr fr
I actually like luxury party stuff . I just bought it recently cause i was desperate for sparkly cas for my taylor swift world. And i really love the buffet table. I also wish they could revamp it and add some more sparkly cas and build items
loving simsie's watched videos on the side: Taylor Swift's Mean and I'm just Ken
I'd love if you went through the trailers for game packs and expansions 💗 this was such a fun video.
Who else has noticed that in seasons and spooky stuff has both got so meany of the same items like graves pumkins and so much more!
I love the teleporting cats in the background
Imagine being Kayla's mom, buying your daughter a lil silly stuff pack for her new hobby making UA-cam videos and then 8 years later she is loved all over the world and has helped raise millions for children with cancer.
It's insane what like can bring, and you can never expect it.
i remember luxury party’s release day and everyone praising the dresses like they were the best thing ever
My little swiftie heart noticing Mean in the bottom of the screen... So proud of you Kayla hahah❤❤😂
There is one thing I'll give Luxury Party stuff.
Because I have it, there are more things served at Copperdale's proms than Roast Chicken.
(My Wedding Stories also offers additional buffet food)
Also, yeah, I would not upgrade from the Sims 4 to whatever Sims 5 will be until Seasons comes out. (And honestly, I don't know about Project Rene at this point)
I remember thinking that Luxury Party was ok, but didn’t think I would use it regularly in game. Especially the CAS, there are some dresses that used to be formalwear stapes but especially the menswear I find unusable
My First Pet Stuff.
Kayla: Everyone was really, really mad about it when it first came out.
James Turner in 2023: Still mad & refuses to install.
Tbh I only got MFPS for the aquarium table loool
Paranormal is def my fave, I voted for it in the polls before when they were asking what people want (while a lot of people voted for laundry stuff).
