    Actually, Chinese were pretty tall back in the days. The average height of Terracotta army of Qin dynasty (221 BC) is 183cm, which around 6 feet tall. Which is VERY tall even in today's standard.

      pigboykool The Chinese became short and poor during the cultural revolution. Everyone was dying to starvation. Now a days people that are well fed grow pretty tall in China.

      It is not what I read from the study. The terracotta shoulders each has different heights. It is based on the size & height of a real solider. Not trying to look intimidating.

      pigboykool They were not at all. Certain individuals (generally the nobles) tended to be a bit taller because they received far better nutrition and health care, but no, Chinese have never been tall, not until now.

      There are thousands of papers written about the phenomenon of the terracotta warriors, newspaper articles and mag. articles. There are thousands of documentaries, articles, papers and books about the Chinese people from 5,500 years ago to now. If you are truly interested, google some search terms on average height(s) of Chinese people throughout the ages, why were the Chinese so short, etc...
      You will be rewarded with a copious amount of information.
      Have fun.

    • @Faerilyn
      @Faerilyn 10 років тому +178

      "Gui Fei" is a title. "Yang Yu Wan" was her name. You may feel better to know that some legends say that the emperor couldn't bear to kill her and had her smuggled off to Japan to live out the rest of her days in peace. Momoe Yamaguchi, famous jp singer/idol, once claimed she's Yang Gui Fei's descendant, which could be true because some legends also say that Yang Gui Fei landed in Japan in the village of Yamaguchi.

    • @Serena694
      @Serena694 9 років тому +94

      Faerilyn I was told a much more gruesome story, where a king from a foreign land actually raped her. She then told her husband, the King about what happened and the king killed foreigner king which incited a war between the countries. She was then killed by her own husband, the King because the civilians blamed her. I also heard she was so beautiful that after she was buried, people would dig her up and do lewd acts to the body. Ew.

      The fact is that the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty indulged in Yang Guifei and neglected the political affairs, which led to chaos in the political affairs and indirectly caused the chaos of Anshi. In the chaos, the Tufan people captured the Tang Dynasty capital Chang'an, and the emperor fled to Sichuan. The Tufan people looted in Chang'an City and set fire to Chang'an City and left. I live in Japan, and in my home town there’s a legend that Yang Guifei wasn’t killed, and that she was snuck onto a boat and sent off into the Sea of Japan. She landed on the shores of Mukatsuku in Yamaguchi prefecture but died shortly thereafter. There’s now a shrine dedicated to her and she’s a patron saint of young women and babies, and a grave for her. I’ve been there and seen it, but whether it’s actually true or not, I have no idea.

Just that he had Yellow emperor and Yandi defeated couple of time and he was defeated and killed after the ninth or tenth battle by the Yellow Emperor. Plus there is many different story and tale's told of the battle and of Chi You. I rarely see or hear any chinese people talk of this ancient story is it cause he a free man with out laws a barbarian.

Secondly, it is generally by wearing flowers, herbs, burning "香" to build sweet atmosphere. By the way, "香" is a kind of extract, by burning can sends out strong fragrance, white smoke rising, by the way, the ancients think this can let a person quiet thinking.

    There's a lake near my school called蠡湖(Lake Li) which is named after Fan Li. People say it's the place where Fan Li and Xi Shi spent the rest of their life together. There's the statue and everything. It's in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province.

    My favorite was always Xi Shi, although I was always told that she and Fan Li went into obscurity to become humble tea merchants after her mission was done. Then she died at 44 (hence the Cantonese tongue twister- Xi Shi died at forty-four.)
