grazie Maestro per questo video! molto interessante e ben spiegato! ho molto apprezzato anche i suoi libri con i kata e i disegni delle posizioni passo passo... davvero splendidi e ben spiegati! Grazie!
Nice! Now we need a whole Sanchin kata tutorial for shotokan style.. It seems it doesn't exist yet on line. May you be the first sensei to do it! Osu from France!
I am interested in learning the history and use cases of various stances, positions, and moves. I am told part of learning that is often skipped now is to learn the meaning behind what you're studying.
The name of the position comes from the step: when you go forward, in the intermediate movement, the feet are brought together, then they go apart again. This is reminiscent of the shape of an hourglass.
YES! I've been waiting for this video from you Shihan! Sanchi is one of my favorite dachi/stances. It's always the first one I practice at home or training on my own. Osu!
Sind sie sicher das sie von Shotokan sind? Sie wären der erste Sensei der Sanchin Dachi verstanden hat. Beste Grüsse aus Spanien von einem Ehemaligen Elmshorner :)
Not here to offend anybody but just wanna point out how ineffective and pointless is sanchin dachi. Different sensei teach different types of sanchin. I feel like the goal of stance is to be at a lower center of gravity and be as comfortable as possible not putting strain on yr body. Feel free to leave an input.
stay safe you all

That's right, I agree. I would advise you to use Literaut for this. There are many good books that deal with this extensive topic.
Dopo Orochi
Sie machen das sehr schön
Dankeschön!
Thanks from Texas!

@fioretartaglia sorry but I did not quite understand what you said about the reason of the stance’s name. Because it resembles what?
An hourglass.
