@@kevinfitz3721 It’s always on the back of my mind whether I’m using a tool steel or stainless steel as to know how I need to clean it up afterwards. He’ll learn 😂. That’s awesome you do the same for your friends! I sharpen a lot of knives for my buddies as well
I just did a ton of work on a manix 2 lightweight rex 45 for my wife's cuz who used it to open up muriatic acid and burned the blade up 🤦♂️ had to try and flitz and water sand it as much as I could damn thing still had black burn marks on it so I etched it with mustard and vinegar to try and darken the entire blade
Also cut down the spring cuz then lightweight manix ball locks are hard as hell. And I polished the washers and put screaming edge on it with my venev stones all the way to a mirror and it's rex45 live that steel
@@bighamz1175oh dang, burned the blade?! I realized flitz can only do so much when I worked on this knife 😂. I haven’t tried vinegar, but I did try brown mustard once on one of my tool steels. Is that knife you fixed up still functioning well?
@@bighamz1175I’m a fan of Rex45 as well. Takes such a keen edge. I have not yet mastered how to put mirrored edges on my blades, but something I want to learn to do down the road. And yes, some of my Manix 2’s locks are more stiff than others. None of them have yet caused me to want to replace or cut the springs down, but it’s nice to know it’s an option 😅
He didn't take care of it to good but its nice of you to do it for him I do the same with my friends knives
