When you start up the Wii, click the little wii button in the bottom left corner. Then go to data management, then click Wii, then just find what you want to put on it.
Ironically enough, I seem to have future proofed a lot of my videos because I was uploading in 60fps from the start. I always tried to get the highest quality source video I could at the time. That's also why I uploaded in 720p even though the Wii outputs at 480p. UA-cam used to just butcher the quality at 480p. Then when UA-cam finally started to support 60fps, all my old uploads suddenly had it available! Makes me very happy I went through the effort :)
@Mkid159 Well, some games don't let you move or copy it's save data. There is some homebrew that will let you, but then it needs to be installed on both Wii's. If you want to do it you can look into it more.
I see you have saved your Metroid Prime 3 preview channel, and keep it in the same exact slot that I keep mine in the SD menu... My life is full of so many coincidences. Either that or everyone is watching me and copying everything I do...
@JordanMeAwesome: Yep, it should. Here, read this. It's straight from Nintendo's support website: "If you have updated your Wii console to Wii Menu 4.0 or higher, then your Wii console is compatible with SD Cards that are 2 GB (Gigabyte) or less, and is also compatible with SDHC Cards up to 32 GB. SD Cards with a capacity higher than 2 GB, and SDHC Cards with a capacity higher than 32 GB, will likely not work with the Wii console."
If you copy it, it will be on the Wii Menu & SD Card Men. If you move it, it will be on the SD Card Menu. I don't really know how many you can fit on 1GB, but i have all of these and still have plenty of space left.
@Drover26: 1: I don't know, I've never done that before. 2: It saves them to an SD card after you get a ridiculous amount of messages, but even then I think if you format the system memory it won't ever read them again. 3: I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure *your* friend code will change, but I don't know if your friends codes will still be saved. 4: I'm not sure what you mean by "Wii+" but the Internet Channel, yes. 5: I don't know. If it has a save separate from the actual channel, then probably,
My Wii is at version 4.3 and is not accepting my SD cards, it says "the object inserted is not supported" or something like that, i tried with a 2 GB standard card and a 4 GB SDHC...
VC stands for Virtual Console. They are downloadable games from older consoles such as the NES and N64. And i get internet on my Wii via Wi-Fi. You need a wireless router to get it.
@capoland Do you know the Nintendo Wi-fi USB Connect? Well, lets say if someone was using the Internet and I have the USB chip plugged into the USB Port in the computer. Could both of us use the Internet? One on the Computer and one on the Wii? Pls respond ty : )
Because the way the SD Card Menu works is it temporarily copy's the game to the Wii's memory. So if you don't have enough space for it temporarily, you can't play it.
I really have no idea. I never put any hacked ROM's on my Wii. As for the Region Locking, Gecko OS still works with the 4.0 update, but i don't think you can directly hack the system menu.
Well one of them is just my Photo Channel with a picture of Samus set as the banner. The other is the Metroid Prime 3 preview channel that came out a couple years ago with some videos of the game, It only worked until the game came out though.
It's because it temporarily copy's the game to system memory and then deletes it when you're done. So if you don't have enough room to copy it then it can't start.
It's completely legal if you use NUS Downloader, since you're downloading them directly from the Nintendo server. If you get them from some other website it's illegal because whoever you got it from is distributing Nintendo property. Tbh, I used Wad Manager to update from 3.2 to 4.0 to 4.2U.
It's a homebrew thing. If you don't know what homebrew is then you don't really need to worry about it. Otherwise you can probably just search for a video about it. I don't really know how to explain it.
Just look up Bannerbomb. Click the first link. Click V2 and then it will have all the instructions on how to reinstall the homebrew. Read everything on that page too.
Yo! heres a diff question to change things a bit, can u still install wads if u use the Waninkoko unpgrade to 4.0? or did u update the right way? also does ur HBC still work good?
Installing the Homebrew Channel is not illegal. And you know that the Wii can already play music and videos through the photo channel, right? So what was your point again?
It may be pointless for me to ask this now because I already updated, but is there a homebrew app that allows you to save Wii Message Board photos back to the SD card. I'm sure that you, like myself, are quite frustrated that all of those sweet Metroid Prime 3 photos are stuck in our consoles.
@capoland Capoland I have some very important questions. I am going to Format my Wii System Memory because of a download error in the system memory. So I am going to get an SD card. 1.When saving your Miis to your remote can they still be activated on that Wii after the Format. 2.Can you save your Wii Messages in the Message Boarrd to an SD card o something? 3. Will my Friends on Animal Crossing City Folk be saved with the file on the SD card(doesnt matter really I only have2)
@capoland Well heres my problem when I download Game Demos and go to play them on the Wii Menu about 5 seconds after starting the game an error comes up NOT AN ERROR CODE no number code just a message about the system memory. Well I called Nintendo and they said as a LAST RESORT to get an SD card and Format the Wii System Memory, I have to call them when I do. There might be another way maybe but for now I doubt it.
You shouldn't have to format it, but you might. The Homebrew channel is for... well I'd rather you look it up. Because you can either use it for things like import games and game backups, but you can also you it to pirate games (which you shouldn't!).
Since you updated to the latest official firmware from Nintendo, are you still able to go back and hack your Wii in order to continue playing games from other countries without having to worry about region locking? Also, if you downloaded NES/ SNES/ Genesis/ whatever ROM games, would you lose them once you update and only keep the ones you actually purchased? I've been thinking about hacking my Wii, but now I'm questioning whether I should or not since this update came out.
Not anything you can do yourself, no, but there's a chance Nintendo would be able to help you. The problem is they're really weird about this. It could easily go either way.
@Drover26: And if I were you, I would see if you can fix it without formatting. I'm pretty sure formatting will cause a bunch of stuff to stop working once you transfer it back. You should only format as a last resort.
Hi. I cant launch my (official) Virtual Console and WiiWare games from my SD card without having space on my system memory. Like, when I try to launch Ocarina of Time (SD card), which takes ~300 blocks from the system memory, if I have less than that, I cant play the game. Can you help me? This thing is pissing me off, as the SD card menu is useless unless we can launch the channels with the system memory full.
i have used my sd card on my nintendo so can it connect to wii? Maybe like super mario bros 2. what is the sd card exactly for, please answer im so courius
I dont suppose the update allows you to load home brewed channels? Cause between you and me, Ive always wanted to transform my Wii into a DVD player, but I just didnt want to wade through all that Zelda hack bull crap.
It can, but the chances are really really really small. Besides, even if it does Nintendo will fix it for free as long as the update caused it to brick and not homebrew.
Looks like I will be performing a system update tonight. I really like the new SD Card Menu. Thanks for sharing this!
I'm from the future. You won't use it
@@Moon-ge8mc it’s a cool feature if you want to separate homebrew apps but it’s barely used anyway
13 years and this is a masterpiece!
7:23 What does it say? "This channel cannot be launched because there is a newer version available."
I love how you somehow realized what it said when you questioned what it said.
Why was this recommended to me 12 years later
idk
Same

60fps in 2009?

@@capoland how many blocks does Metroid take?????
From the Wii Shop Channel.
Nice. Looks like the beefiest games take some 10 sec to load.
Cant wait for your NPC MP video.
This video is 11 years old and it still looks good
This new update allows you to launch VC Games/WiiWare/Channels straight from the SD Card without copying it to the Wii's internal memory.
I downloaded them off of the Wii Shop Channel.
@Mkid159 Well, some games don't let you move or copy it's save data. There is some homebrew that will let you, but then it needs to be installed on both Wii's. If you want to do it you can look into it more.

If it’s sdhc I think it’s supposed to be 32gb if I’m not wrong
The Wii music gives me the chills because it gives me the vibe of loneliness
Yep. Just go into the menus to move things from the system memory to the SD card.
Wow, 60 fps in 2009! that's something
Did the new update mess up homebrew at all?
VC stands for Virtual Console. They are downloadable games from older consoles such as the NES and N64. And i get internet on my Wii via Wi-Fi. You need a wireless router to get it.

Because the way the SD Card Menu works is it temporarily copy's the game to the Wii's memory. So if you don't have enough space for it temporarily, you can't play it.
Oh yeah, good point. I didn't use it to get games though. I used it a while ago to downgrade to 3.2
You do lose some app capabilities, but the thing that i use it for still works. That's Gecko OS, which lets me play games region-free.
You don't need any special kind of SD card. Just a regular one. It should also probably be at least 1GB. That way you won't run out of space.
How did you download dr mario for o wii points?
Nostalgia hits hard...😔
This SD Card Menu is awesome!
Hey en wii u transfer tool channel?
what does this do i dont understand how do i put games and stuf on this?
@ttopsddog I think so, but you're going to have to reinstall the homebrew if you haven't updated the homebrew in a while.
Very nice! :) I will buy some of them too, soon.
I really have no idea. I never put any hacked ROM's on my Wii. As for the Region Locking, Gecko OS still works with the 4.0 update, but i don't think you can directly hack the system menu.

@ttopsddog That i don't know about. I don't use backup games.
It's because it temporarily copy's the game to system memory and then deletes it when you're done. So if you don't have enough room to copy it then it can't start.
can you copy a channel to the sd card and play it on a different wii? If so i would love to do that to get photo channel and other stuff on my wii u.
@carlosco89 Not since the 4.0 update. They can use up to 32GB cards now with SDHC support.
It's completely legal if you use NUS Downloader, since you're downloading them directly from the Nintendo server. If you get them from some other website it's illegal because whoever you got it from is distributing Nintendo property.

@Drover26: I don't know. I've never used one. I would guess you could both still use it though.
I didn't get them from a website. I bought them on the Wii Shop Channel.
You can also use bannerbomb to install it if you haven't yet on 4.0
I'm not sure what you're trying to ask, but if you're worried about space, don't be. I only have a 1GB card and have all these games on it.
Are you asking if you can play videos off an SD card on the Wii? If you are, you can play .avi video files in the Photo Channel.
@Drover26: Well I guess if they told you to, and you'll be on the phone with them, then you should be fine.
My SDHC card has 4 GB and I tried to copy the games to my SDHC card from my Wii console, but it shows nothing on the SD card menu. Why?
If you already have it installed, then yes.
Holy shit! Did you buy those virtual console games or just installed with WAD Manager?
Yo! heres a diff question to change things a bit, can u still install wads if u use the Waninkoko unpgrade to 4.0? or did u update the right way? also does ur HBC still work good?
Yes, you can use a hack called Bannerbomb.
No, i didn't get them from wads. I used 3.2 for some homebrew that only worked on 3.2 at the time.
I did not expect the 60fps option. 0_o
@capoland I'm getting a SanDisk 32GB SDHC card (Class 4) It is kind of expensive but should work right?
I bought them using the Wii Shop Channel. It's Pre-Installed on EVERY Wii. If you can't find it, then i can't really help you.
Well, I don't remember honestly. I probably didn't, and just edited out reinstalling it or something.
Installing the Homebrew Channel is not illegal. And you know that the Wii can already play music and videos through the photo channel, right?
So what was your point again?
@muzikchik39 Search for WiiBrew on google and go to that website. There should be a link to a guide to install it somewhere on the front page.
It's not launching my games. Why isn't it working, launching games automatically by itself
It may be pointless for me to ask this now because I already updated, but is there a homebrew app that allows you to save Wii Message Board photos back to the SD card. I'm sure that you, like myself, are quite frustrated that all of those sweet Metroid Prime 3 photos are stuck in our consoles.

Lol yeah, this makes me feel like i want more VC games too!
@MagmaBattlesNLPz I bought them on the Wii Shop Channel.
Yes. Is that really so hard to believe?
When you buy games off of the Wii Shop Channel, just pick to download it to the SD Card.
You mean this version? 4.0? It's already out. It has been since March 25'th.
Nope. This update actually makes it harder to do so. If you still don't have this update then just do the Twilight Hack. It's worth it.
What are those Metroid Prime Channels on your Wii Menu ? How can I get 'em ?

Yes, i already read some responses of people on the internet on this topic.

I hope it is still possible, despite the fact it is 2017 now
Just the thought kinda bothers me
You and me both! It's very uncomfortable.
backup your Wii with BootMii.
I doubt it. It's just you can't install it if you already updated.
Also a question; if your friend downloaded a wiiware game can i save it onto my SD channel and load in my wii at home?
Well i don't even know what the mastered and regular versions are.
Load VC games directly from SD Card Menu? I have to have room on my Wii Memory and it says I can't update...
Wii u transfer tool channel in SD menu!?
I meant for the Virtual Console games.
It did for new installs, but not anymore. They made a new exploit for 4.0
I think you con only play it on the Wii you bought them on. I don't know for sure though.
@Drover26: And if I were you, I would see if you can fix it without formatting. I'm pretty sure formatting will cause a bunch of stuff to stop working once you transfer it back. You should only format as a last resort.
Hey! After you transfer your games to the SD card, can you play them in any Wii system? Or does it only work on your Wii system? Please Help!!
so it restarts the game every time you quit playing instead of pausing it like it did on the wii menu?
Hi. I cant launch my (official) Virtual Console and WiiWare games from my SD card without having space on my system memory.
