That Christmas the phrase “Peace on Earth and Goodwill toward ALL men.” had a deeper meaning knowing a lot of people listening to this weren’t going to have loved ones to celebrate Christmas with ever again. The sacrifices these people made is inspiring. My parents were both young but knew how much the world had changed since December 6th of that year. The bonds of brotherhood between the US and UK are unbreakable. We lean on each other. GOD Save the King and his people, GOD Bless America..
This is a keeper! And only little more than two weeks after Pearl Harbor. Thanks for posting. Winston said of FDR "Meeting Franklin Roosevelt was like opening your first bottle of champagne; knowing him was like drinking it."
I feel like these times have come back with everything that has happened in the last year and a half I just pray that we will hold on to our faith and push forward and prevail and most of all not let evil win.
Winning WWII was not a done deal in this era. There'd be three-plus years of conflict yet to come from the point when these speechs were delivered. I heard about this period from my elders as I grew up. They lived through it. My mother's most charming memory perhaps is of the wartime rationing of everything. I heard about those things in short supply like butter, sugar and eggs. From my grandparents I got the sanitized version of events such as what you'd tell a six year-old. Now I wish I had revisited their recollections more in-depth.
Even though Winston may not have had colorful educational achievements.....he was one of the greatest natural educated human being that ever walked the planet
Churchill era el primer ministro británico que llevaba dos años involucrado en el asunto. Hablaba con sus propios compatriotas y con los estadounidenses.
And they bathed his feet but he was doing the footmassage. What a bunch of scoundrels actually. But then why not if they can't see what you are doing. Listen to those words. And they took the babies, one of those in those serious times where they put their ears to the radio. Goccha. Touch of drama there ohlala. He was good at Shakespeare.
Sir Winston stood as a standard for, and a friend to, Americans in America and around the world.

Extraordinary, thanks for sharing
I'd seen this portayed in movies, so it's interesting to note how accurate that was by watching the actual thing here.
Which movie?
What a great orator Sir Winston Churchill was. If only we had a President and Prime Minister of Sir Winston's character today.
I mean he was a good orator but he was a pretty terrible prime minister. We’re better off without someone like Winston in office.

One has to be in awe of what Churchill and Roosevelt did for the future of democracy.

I do not think that the US knew they would win the war until sometime in 1943. when this speech happened victory was far from certain.
@@stevenledbetter8591 They could see that by winning the Battle of Britain, we had made victory achievable.
Beautiful and hopeful. God rest their souls.

being honest, this wasn't one of Winston's best. And the crowd reaction was pretty mild.
the latest speech of the President of Ukraine in US Congress like the same message to the peaceful world
If you lived in Wales you would hate Winston Churchill we still do
