A lost laptop and a couple days of scrambling to borrow people's later....HERE'S THE FIRST OF INDONESIA VLOGS :)! Other series will resume as soon as I get my laptop back (it's at lost and found in SFO, cross fingers it's mine). I'm still in Indonesia now so you can follow the trip in real-time on Instagram: instagram.com/cupoftj/ P.S. Stay until end of the vlog. There's something I wanted to share.
I am so glad you found yourself again. I love your zest for life, your positive outlook, and the excitement you always have to try and enjoy new things. Stay as sweet as you are. I look forward to all your future adventures.
Love the dancing - the Batak fabric looks soooo pretty! I hope your laptop somehow makes its way back to you and kudos on putting this together without it!
Yesss I want to visit northern Sumatra next year while I'm in Indonesia but I've been having trouble finding information - I'm so glad you're there! And I love how educational this video is about the culture!! Thank you!!!
Love this, 'Salaams' drives from 'Salaam' ie. peace, the greeting among Muslims around the world. Indonesia is on my bucket list of travels this year iA.
TJ I love the way you ended your VLOG. I'm very happy that you found the will, strength and the courage to continual. It has helped me to also to keep my dream alive. I enjoy watching you VLOG. keep it up. You rock girl!
Great video TJ!! Always wanted to go to Indonesia, can't wait for these travel videos! I think in the future you should do a travel video about packing light... but going to a cold location. I have a few plans in the next few years for visiting Europe during their winter season. I always worry everything will pack heavy due to bigger clothes.
OOO I basically had one suitcase for every season. What I did was pack a ton of thin thermals. Uniqlo sells a few and I used those. Then I layer the thermal + the one big jacket I bring around everywhere.
I absolutely love your little rap up quote at the end of the vlog! I can't even imagine doing what you're doing. Last April was my 1st time out of the U.S. and it was LIFE CHANGING! My first trip was south Luzon in the Philippines. In 3 days I'm heading to Singapore and southern Malaysia. I'm insanely excited!!!! Keep up the amazing videos and travel safe... 😉😎
Hi, TJ. I just found your UA-cam channel. Thank you for making your way to Batak Island, my hometown. What a surprise to know that you're Taiwanese. I had been staying in Taiwan (Hualien and Taipei) for almost 3 years, and I love Taiwanese people. The food there is soooo good, and I did make some time to have some delicious foods in Raohe and Xilin Night Market in Taipei. Keep up to spread the good things. And I miss Taiwan already!!!
Even with your lost laptop you still glowed as usual. I am in the middle of my digital nomad lifestyle myself. Planning on making the move next year my affiliate marketing and eCommerce are going much better than expected. Who knows maybe 6 months from now. ;)
Man I havent watched your videos in a hot minute! I love the last bit of motivation there near the end. I hope you get your lappy. PS. I was deciding where to go for my bday in October, hence, why my youtube brain lead me to your channel 💕
Hello TJ Happy to see you again I only wish I knew you were back in California I would have treated you to a dinner enjoy Indonesia Have a great time Take Care Dear

A lot of people in north sumatra are christian / budhist. So you could find pork based food more frequently in north sumatra / medan rather than other indonesian part.
Yes, of course!! The last minutes of the vid: WOW! It helps me in my personal situation. You are a great person on the right way :-) I wish you everything good and great adventures on your way :-)
Please visit also another corner of Lake Toba, the historical village of National Hero of Sisingamangaraja, the village Namely Bakkara Valley, about 1hour trip by car from International Silangit Airport ,Siborong borong. A long the way, will expose the beatiful view, water fall, rivers, mountine, farm etc. Come and See.
12:00, thats true, almost all indonesian have different accent in speak bahasa indonesia. you can trace ethinicity by the accent. javanese, slow n quite but very bold and very bass. sundanese, slow, flowing, treble no bass sound and cannot say F and V, like, FANTA sundanese said "PANTA" and VESPA, said PESPA, batak very fast and loud just like angry people shouting and yelling.
and i would like to give you a recommendation about must visited destination.... it is called Mountain Bromo in East Java.... you should definetly go there.... every morning, u can see the sunrise shines the mountain, u can visit the active center of Bromo, you can go to "Padang Savannah"(it is like a very beautiful field, but to go there, u have to experience a bumpy ride hehhee) and go try "Lemper" the Indonesian traditional snack... it is a must 😍😍
Horas..thank you for sharing your wonderful trip to my homeland. your next visit please invite me...cheers from oz.. looking forward for the next video..
