Not many routines that make me wish a perfect 10 would be possible again but this kinda does. I mean I'm pretty sure there is physically no way to do this better than he did it here.
@@pepsiman4418 Basically, the scoring system became so much more strict that the judges won't allow for it to happen anymore. For example, the way he lands throughout this video (for ex at 0:37) is getting deducted at least .1 by the judges because they consider the chest position to be too low. Even though it's a biomechanically natural and safe way to land and would not have been deducted 15~20 years ago.
Aside from deep landings but that's such a bullshit deduction imo. I think deep landings should inly be deducted when the shoulders are at hip height or lower
@@lovewasawillow I get that they don't really want to give out perfect scores in case someone in the future does even better, but it's insane to me how this sport is evolving from demonstrating the limits of human athleticism to insidiously motivating athletes to break their bodies. Like it's actually harder to enjoy sports like gymnastics and figure-skating because as a spectator, I get more sympathetic pains and frustration than pleasure, watching these people try to fulfill these standards. Gymnastics is already a dangerous sport; one of those stunts he did could have easily broken his neck if he were off by a hair, and while I get this sport is about overcoming risk with skill, it's crazy to me that good technique itself can be penalized in this sport. No wonder it's so toxic.
@lovewasawillow the chest being too low has to be something racist like... judging is so subjective!!! Why can't it just be objective and give him a perfect score like he f***ing deserves!!! We all saw how perfect that routine was! Just. Give. It. To. Him. ❤ mmmk?! And stop being pretensious, nose-in-the-air, superior BS of "Well actually" no. At this point you're making stuff up that borders on the line of prejudice white privilege so just back off mmk? Okay! Rant over.
I have to admit i prefer male gymnastics. All the hand movements that female gymnasts are required to make just kinda annoy me cause they dont show any skill, they just are supposed to look pretty cause that used to be more important for women back in the day, rather than doing clean skills and nothing else. Women are starting to be allowed to wear pants now too, so thats at least a step in the right direction. I hope one day theyll stop deducting points if you dont do fancy hand movements
the male "artistic gymnastics" is the one done wrong to be honest, if we are gonna take away all the "fancy stuff" instead of fixing the problem in the lack of art in the male category we may just give it another name.
Every stick is clean. His twisting form is impeccable! His amplitude is beyond impressive on that double double. I can’t believe i haven’t seen this routine yet. This has to be the most satisfying floor routine I’ve ever come across.
This was just incredible, I’ve never seen a more perfect routine I mean the leg form the twisting technique the ability to drill every single landing with perfect technique
Democracy is gone. It’s now just a word they use on the masses to make you think you’re actually not just a bunch of slaves to the elite & their corporations.
Just astonishing. I came here from a video of men's floor at recent Worlds & there's a hop after every landing. I had to see King Kohei to remind myself what perfection looks like & how all the gushing of the commentators of today just equals a lowered bar. Too bad.
I'm seeing here in the comments that his E score was 9.166...if that's true, these judges need to be fired. 9.5 at the absolute lowest in my humble opinion (and yes, I was a judge years ago). Nowadays, a sloppy routine scores 8.2 and a clean routine scores 8.6, while a perfect routine scores 8.9....doesn't make sense.
@@jerrymiesalvomila1142 Hi, do I know you? Anyway, my comment wasn't about me, it was about the rules and they way they're used to deduct from near perfection. Were you one of the judges here or something?
In this day and she nobody seems to know what a man is supposed to look like. Kohei here is the prime example of a man. Men have this thing called bodyhair. Said bodyhair has a purpose for existing. Woman can also have bodyhair but they mutilate themselves to "look nice" this diminishing that purpose which is why women often complain about the cold and so on.
@Kat-mu8wq gymnastics and most "artistic" sports are all about aesthetics, the male categories are not different, maybe is more a culture from japan that this guy here an unusual amount of body hair to show.
He makes it look so easy that we forget he's doing something the rest of the world could never do ,even if they tried Many of us can't even stick a remotely similar landing when just jumping up and down
It's a cultural thing. East Asian men typically don't shave under their armpits because hair there is masculine. I have however seen many Japanese musicians shave their armpits but they're typically more feminine built than an athlete, (full make up, sometimes a member of the band wears a dress.. go look at Hizaki, that's a 45 year old man.. you're welcome)
@@Kat-mu8wq well every other coutry athlete do it lmao, Japanese are definitely not the most masculine looking men, its looks like you have some trouble with that you seems so sensitive about this matter
Nope, I'm from the Philippines but that Thomas Salto move at 1:05 is extremely difficult and dangerous so they had to ban that routine. I doubt Caloy can do that.
So impressive! By the way I felt like if this would be a woman who chooses not to shave her armpits this would be a huge deal for people in the comments
As a woman I do not shave my legs or armpits. I don't give a rats ass what anybody thinks. If it didn't have a purpose, it wouldn't grow. I'm not going to mutilate my body because someone doesn't like a little bit of hair, grow the f*ck up.
Was this the best routine of his career?
Yes
of course!!
Hell yeah, this is pure beauty from the King!! This is art actually... I love also the 2011 one, with the amazing double triple!
Greatest routine in gymnastics history, any apparatus, male or female. I have yet to see another routine approach this level of perfection.

I rewatch this routine every now and again just because I've never found one that's more perfect
In addition, he also has an artistic expression that is rarely seen in women's gymnastics.
Another favorite of mine is Alexey Nemov's floor routine at the 2000 Sydney Games, for the sheer beauty and artistry of it.
That first one wasn’t a 10. He disguised it was a turn. It’s a 9.8. Not a ten.

Yeah he was phenomenal.. but injuries happen and force retirement. Not too bad to be retired at 35 😂
Это лучшее выступление за всю историю спортивной гимнастики! Браво!
I watched gymnasts stick landing before, but Uchimura looked like he had magnets mounted to the bottoms of his feet.
