Coach Douglas Esposito shares the details for finishing any armbar and shares different armbar entries and finishes from the Guard, Mount, Knee In Belly and Scarf Position.
even here in Brazil, we dont have a youtube channel with all that information, i am really grateful. Thanks for the videos.
De Nada!
after 3 years i still watch this video. is still the best. today went through the drills with my bjj instructor. hope you all keep well.
Great instruction. I know there is a division between people who want to learn "nogi' BJJ for MMA and those who use the gi. I think you have to learn both because on the street, when people wear a jacket or a coat, that's your "Gi" right there. All Gi techniques can be used on a jacket or coat. Again, great instruction and great technique. Thank you, Sir.
I agree William - I enjoy Gi and No-gi equally. Once we finish getting all the gi material up, I have an amazing coach that will be sharing his approach to no-gi.
Can't wait coach. What I love most about this channel is that you show entire systems around a position of move rather than a ten minute video of one technique. That's why this my favorite bjj channel now
2:20 - using your legs to put pressure on his pinky, if he twists his arm
3:45 - cross collar setup to arm bar
Excellent video. I hope the camera man is over his cold :)
Thank you very much for this video and all of the other videos that you have been so kind to share. People at the gym have noticed a huge improvement in my game due to some of the details that you teach. Once again, thank you sir! Oss!
Thats awesome Steven! I hope you are sharing this resource with the people that are noticing the difference! Let me know if you would be interested in doing a testimonial for the website. Hope to train with you some day.
yes sir! i am a smaller guy (155lbs) and have been using some of these details to my advantage. The biggest improvement was from my bottom side control. the series you sid on escaping side control was a total game changer. ive been able to catch much bigger opponents by timing the hip heist to single legs properly. the look on their faces when i get on top is worth it! i would love to testify, let me know what needs to be done. oss!

I became a subscriber today...great content
So many great videos, so little time.
Just take them one at a time, split them up in to 1-3 moves to work on per class; drill. practice, review, repeat, crush your enemies, see them driven before you....
But seriously - just take them one at a time, work on it for as long as you need, and only then come back and watch new material. This will be up - its not going anywhere.
Thank you!
once more thanks.i hope one day to visit your classes.keep up that smile and good atmosphere. bravo.
Hope to see you on the mats sometime Michael!
great love the way you teach.
On number 1. Another great detail to point out is to always have the arm on the farther side of the opponents head. Having it on the side closer to their head allows for a higher percentage of the roll out escape.
Thanks for adding to the details!
You mean applying the armbar on the (here right) side of your crotch, towards the opponent's legs ?
Yes. Think of the middle of your chest as the center line. You want the arm on the side that is closest to your opponents legs, not his head. It's a slight adjustment, but it makes a world of difference. What it does is that it stops the shoulder from being able to rotate properly when the guy trys to bail out of the arm bar by spinning and rolling on his shoulder.
You can see the black belt in the video doing it instinctively, but it wasn't pointed out.
This is something I learned from a Tony Passos seminar, who is a black belt under De la Riva, and coaches Galvao and his family.
Will have to try this, because I don't understand why would the shoulder rotate less or more if the arm is on one side or the other of the hip :/
(I mean, none of them stops the thumb from turning towards hitchhiker escape, do they ?)
very educational.bravo.
Excellent details! Thanks!
Thanks!
Excelent video as always
Thanks!! We look forward to releasing many more.
4:40 is the best part of this video LMAO!!! No but on a serious note... Awesome info thank you so much
LOL - candid stuff - my camera man tried to blame my dog Higgins!!
LAST MAN STANDING MATCH
good thing i do not have to pay for watching your videos...i would have gone broke! thanks
Are these being released in a "backward" order somewhat? This was posted a couple weeks ago but the coach has higher rank in older videos.
Dereck - we shot every class I taught going back for years. So in some I am a first or second degree, and only in the last ones we've shot am I a third. We are only now editing these together and releasing them, so they may be out of order chronologically, but we are putting them in order technically. Hope you find the videos helpful! -Coach Doug
BJJ Curriculum Oh ok...makes sense! Love the videos professor! They are very helpfull and detailed! Good stuff...keep em comin!
great video but the shaking on the cam seriously?
The only downside to these armbar techniques when you use it real life, you do not want to get your thighs or legs come in contact with your opponents' mouth. Otherwise he can use his teeth to bite the chunk out of your thigh or calf, that shit will hurt so bad and you ain't go no choice but to let go !
Bruce - thanks for the helpful tip.
there are 10 armbars
But only 9 you need to know - the other one is optional...
Instructions unclear. Had to yell "HELLO WRIST" every roll to make it work and now kicked of the gym. I am suing you for not putting a disclaimer !
LOL - If your home academy doesn't appreciate your sense of humor you are better off with out them anyways!
Just kidding - but I still need to try the "Hello wrist" and the "CHOOOKE EM' !!!" :)
Hey, This is wrist. What’s up?
You've been tapped
Tried so hard to watch this but the shaky cam was so rough.
