Kudo should gain more popularity. It really looks fun and very effective. Wish it has more dojos around the world including in my area
Judo is such a practical martial art that it makes kudo attractive just because of it. Take a martial art and add judo techniques to it, and it suddenly becomes interesting and more realistic. So, Kudo is a martial art I would have loved to learn. Certainly, I'd recommend kudo, only second to judo, for a boy to practice self defense. Good video, Chadi.
Thank you
Kudos ! Kudos to you.
I think the helmet ruins any boxing skill, you cannot defend the head in it and nobody even bothers.Youd need to do regular kickboxing sparring for that.Kudo is good for teaching all out attack mentality.
Yeah +bjj
@@scarred10 you’re forgetting about bare knuckle vs wraps and gloves. The knuckle/wrist conditioning as well as the way hands are positioned when punching in karate is realistic for a fight. I had a wrist injury so I trained with my left wrapped for 6 months and when I took it off, that side was significantly weaker and I couldn’t hit the makiwara or bag hard for a while without my wrist buckling.
Not trying to argue and say “I’m right and your wrong”, but just sharing another way of looking at the pros cons 👍

Kudo and Sanda are my two main styles I'd love to learn for their striking integrated with grappling
Great thanks for the video. I think, it`s a big thing in kudo - classical gi + gloves with open fingers. All this make good posabilities for making takedowns. If judo as a stile need sport "combat" competitions (as combat SAMBO for example), it must be something like kudo.
Thank you
Ur vids have in small part helped keep me sane while I'm stuck in my room with covid, keep it up man!
Means the world to me
@@Chadi could you do a video on Jason Morris Judo brother?
This was a montage of ouches. I think the momentum of the strikes really makes the throws so much more powerful. While it’s not the art Aikido, I think it may well be the principle of “aiki,” which is really hard to train for in arts like Judo. It’s not impossible, of course, but the windows of overextension tend to come in much smaller bursts whereas in Kudo it seems like you can really lure the opponent into a flurry of swings and use that to your advantage.. not that you’d want to be on the receiving end of any of those.
Brilliant breakdown as usual!! Thanks Chadi!
Thank you 🙇🏻♂️
Didnt even know such an art existed :D
Its like a mix of Karate + Judo... = Kudo?
:D
It's pretty cool
Actually it's in the name. 'KU' means empty. And rather 'empty style'. Highlighting the dynamic nature of the sport and art.
@@pyrofrost90 Ah thanks, I was wondering if it was Kombat jUDO, ha ha

Thanks for covering this!
My pleasure
I like the fact, that you can train hard/full contact as a normal person and limit the Injury possibility. Not everyone is going to be a pro in MMA :D So next day i still can go to work!
Ha ha crikey, you think you can go through a full on Kudo fight and come out of it fresh the next day!!!!! Good luck! It's basically a full contact Muay Thai fight with ground grappling thrown in, also known as MMA in a gi.
@@dadthelad TRAINING not a fight in a competition.....
@@wiggisworld7133 You don't want to go the "kumite"?
No conocía el Kudo. Gracias!!!! Escelente trabajo!!!!.
Muchas Gracias Mario 🙇🏻♂️
Excellent work Chadi. You really do your research when it comes to other arts. I'm a Kudo practitioner myself based in the United Kingdom. If anybody in the UK is interested in getting involved with Kudo please reply to this thread and I'll pass you information privately. Osu!
Awesome thank you
Please supply info
Hi where is your dojo? There are only 6 official branches in the UK
A really great video! Very informative! Many thanks :)
Thank you 🙇🏻♂️
Thanks alot for your nice channel and videos mr chadi this 👍 what I wish

When Azuma Takashi was a Judoka rules was totally different. It was all throwing techniques actually very successful in Kudo . You can't grab the legs anymore . Very sad .
Very interesting and informative. I've never had any contact with Kudo.
It's pretty cool
As a fan of both MMA and judo I for a long time regretted that there is no judogi in mma which would really allow grapplers to shine. So it's pleasant suprise for me to see this Kudo Martial Art which basically works like mma in judogi. I would gladly practice it if it was in my city.
It's fascinating for sure
Triathlon: running, swimming, bicycling.
Kudo: Karate + Judo
I'm sure you can find Karate and Judo schools who would like to try this "bi-athlon."
Actually, combat sambo is closer to mma in gi by far in terms of whats allowed and you dont wear a space helmet which totally changes the dynamic.
The only thing I don't like much about kudo, is the helmet. It's big and a lot heavyier than a boxing / kickboxing helmet. The weight and the size makes it difficult to qickly slip punches. The other thing is the plexyglass visor, it may be good to protect the eyes against toenails (with kicks) and fingers in the eyes, but it makes it harder to breath, makes the head extremely hot, and has a tendency to be covered in fog and condensation. Plus, the official kudo helmet is expensive, nearly as expensive as the far superior quality boxing helmets from Winning, or more expensive than the better Yoseikan-budo helmets.
anyway, Kudo is a great art, and this was a great video, thanks !
Yeah, the helmet makes the striking messy
As a Judoka learning Karate it took a while to apply throws i knew very well...
The maai and kuzushi were different and the fact I needed to add in kick, punch and throw etc made it a new skill to learn. Also kumi kata is restricted in my experience.
Anyway if you get the chance to study with a good Karate sensei as an alternative to Kudo. You can mix Judo and Karate with your own efforts.
Agreed
Kudo is the best thing that happened to karate.
And Judo.
Kudo is awesome. Much more exiting to watch than MMA IMO. I wish I had had chance to have a go 40+ years ago!
This is the first time I've ever heard of Kudo
Karate+judo=kudo. I love your videos.
Thankyou again bro😂🙏
🙇🏻♂️
Reminds me of MMA but with a gi. Very different though due to a karate base for striking.
Exactly
all martial arts evolved by combination of style or concept---- in other words, rehash of old martial arts designed for self defense. It is going back in full circle where it started as a fighting arts for self preservation.
You should do a video on Gong Kwon Yusul
Love this music
Thank you
whats the music for this? thanks
Hey I was replying to that. 😄

I wonder how helpful the Kuro helmet really helps in preventing concussions. I would think it just prevents black eyes and cuts but the brain is still rocks
Curious how they easily get knocked lights out even with those helmates on
I used to train kudo, my helmet would protect me from most of the straight punches, but hooks and kicks would feel almost the same, the best pros of the helmet were the lack of bruises after sparring.
The only cons of it was the damn fogging and lack of air circulation during summer.
I would really like to do Kudo & compete under it's rules, unfortunately it's not widely available.
That's unfortunate
biggest kudo problem is... helmet
Judo and wrestling, mix with a striking art like boxing or mu tai will be always effective.
May I ask why in kudo when they ground and pound they do it softly like when someone is on a dominant position. It is a common occurence in matches that instead of punching, they just retract their punches repeatedly softly
they are the rules of Kudo. you can't punch when you are on the floor, just simulating
What does it take so long to re-integrate Karate and Judo?

7:31 dude is dead, seriously :o
Wow Kudo is impressive.
1:42 disgusting. I've been to judo tourneys where this is a DQ for the guy that decided to dive headfirst into the floor. That's beyond a sacrifice technique.
#Kudo should be in every major state/city. Like Manhattan, NY and Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL not just Cali.
Agreed
Kudo❤❤
how about tae-kwondo and judo. Would that be Tudo? Tudo could be really fun to do and to watch.
Well there is a martial art called hwarangdo in korea, since it came from korea i think it has taekwondo in it, also it has throwing.
Hapkido?
Tae Kwon Do is Karate. The Way of Hand and Foot.
I'd love to see a Kudo fighter destroy a BJJ'ist
Better chance seeing pigs fly
Ok. Tell us about the 3 Stripe BJJ white belt, who chocked you out ! Let it out .. anger issues are not good ! 🤙🏼
@@BFerreira82 careful he is a black tiger.
That would be awesome. I hate all the Gracie's and would love to see their martial arts wiped off the planet sadly that's not going to happen anytime soon.
depends on the rules.BJJ isnt about fighting these days so most couldnt compete in mma,in grappling bjj is superior for sure.
Japanenese MMA sounds great
😁🇺🇸
...vs Ludo
Kudo is just Judo, but better because you can attack the legs
No leg grabs it seems in kudo , judging from the video snippets.
Oh sorry just watched to the end. It is allowed
Pyjama MMA
Viva il Kudo!!!
So kudo is Japanese sambo
combat judo basically
Kudo just looks like jujutsu done by psychos. Striking is part of jujutsu along with all of judo already-kudo seems to be exactly the same thing except these people appear to be deliberately trying to cripple their opponent. It looks like UFC done by angry drunks.
I think kudo should just take the helmets off
The art would have een better just keeping people who train on Kudo without gear...
You are telling me Kyukoshin Karatekas can take a full on wheel kick to the head but Kudo people can't train without helmets?
It defeats the purpose of mixing karate and judo.
Nobody can take full kick to the head and they shouldn't be in sparring.
Kyokushin has no head punching, that's why they dont need a helmet. The helmet allows you to test yourself and techs full force without restrictions without the risk of broken face bones and cuts and bruises. It does not however prevent brain damage and doesn't train head defense at all, it's a false sense of security.
@@scarred10 "Kyokushin has no head punching . . . "
That's watered down Kyokushin. I've seen the movie Fighter in the Wind.
@@Quach7 kyokushin has been watered down since the 1960s then, ,head punching hardly ever existed outside some breakaway groups.
