    Simply love you all. I just got my first client looking to lose over 100lbs. I asked him about his testosterone levels and he disclosed it was in the low 200’s during his late twenties.. My heart for all my clients gets so heavy, especially when I’m not as familiar with how to help solve the issue. Thanks to you all I found confidence in suggesting he get his levels checked again, and referred him to a high rated hormone clinic in the area. I can’t stress the amount of value I, and clearly the community gets out of everything you all do. Thank you so much again, have a Merry Christmas and bless all of you.

    I have been lifting for around a year now, I am a bit lost in my fitness journey and started picking up power lifting. I have based all my lifts and the quality and procedures by your guys videos. A group of my guy friends start a 3 month powerlifting competition and I wanted to show them you guys but they didn’t want to listen to me. I want to follow MAPS Powerlift to prove them wrong so they begin listening to you guys. Help me get the edge! Regardless I will continue to listen to you guys I love listening to y’all all day and everyday. Keep up the awesome content guys.

    I appreciate your willingness to share your story Sal. I'm in the exact same boat. Did way too many prohormones in my 20's (M1-T, Superdrol, Halodrol, etc) and two years ago (age 38) my test levels were at 175! TRT has been life changing for me. It really does make you feel like a new man. The mental/psychological benefits far outweigh the physical ones you get from having optimized levels.

    Sal, thank you. What you're going through, or rather have been through, seems really tough. I relate at the age of 20 now, with levels well... Below even your results. To say the least, they're rather abysmal. The past few years for me, too, have been a period where I have learned so much and have been "dialled in" with nutrition, consistent resistance training, Earthing, avoiding toxins where possible, etc... It was just over 3 weeks ago that I found my results were so low, and it was a massive shock, but explained a lot about my struggles to gain lean mass, cope with stress, recover from training, prevent injuries, and even maintain a natural libido. In the UK, I'm currently being investigated by the NHS, and it's crazy to think I still have to experience what it's like to truly feel "my age"! xD Looking forward to the future, I guess. My heart and prayers are with you and everyone in this situation, stay positive. :)

    I’ve always used freeweights in the beginning of my workouts and then close out workouts with machines for since they are easier to use when muscles start to become spent. Like form starts becoming compromised later in the workout with freeweights. So utilizing the machines to finish off my workouts can help maximize my workout session.

    Strength is something misunderstood.
    You can train your body to be incredibly strong at a single motion, or you can train your body to be strong at many multiple motions.
    Single motion super strength seems better for competition, but for overall strength, being strong in multiple functional movements seems best and as discussed in the podcast, will be better for longevity.

    Ok please bare with me. I need to set up my question.
    I had a regular doctor and I decided last year to get my hormones checked along with my regular yearly blood tests. He seemed off put by the request, which I thought was strange, but he went ahead and ordered the tests for me. My testosterone results came back 495 ng/dl, which I was okay with. The doctor explained that I was in the normal range for my age, and I could expect it to fall as I aged. I felt a little uncomfortable with how he said that, and I asked if he would be open to recommending me for HRT if and when it eventually fell below 300. He said, no, and I felt like it was kind of condescending. He actually said: “There’s something to be said about aging gracefully, and the world would probably be better off with less testosterone in it.”
    Needless to say, I’m looking for a new doctor, however, this brings me to my question. His statement seemed to be an ideological position. Do you think that the discussion about, and attitudes surrounding, TRT has a lot to do with anti-masculine ideologies and misandry?

    Hey Sal, I wanna pitch you with an alternative hypothesis for low T in your circumstances.
    Did you consider that your low T for the last couple years might be the evolutionary adaptation to you having your baby (and preceding that your pregnant wife) in your family? I know for fact that a significant drop in T is a human evolutionary adaptation mechanism to facilitate nuture, caretaking, bonding and selflessness type of behavior in men which makes them more likely to stick around to raise a child.
    I don't know at all if this fits your timeframe, but it just was something that came to my mind as a more proximal explanation than the route of what you took in your 20s for someone as consistent as you and doesn't entail that something is suddenly "wrong" with your body or your behaviors. Especially since you talk about having very high lewels a couple years ago (presumably maybe before your youngest son was on the way?) and it seems like a sudden and drastic onset for such kind of detrimental after-effects.
    Hope you read this and that it might might shed a different light on things. Just wanted to give you a plausible narrative which is more like your body and hormones do what they evolutionarily are supposed to do in your life and family circumstances, but because you're someone that actively manages a lot of areas in his health you take it personally (here, with a negativity bias since it "threatens" your competence) and look for an explanation what you could have done wrong (involving intentional behavior).
    Hopefully you might resolve your frustration, I don't necessarily think you did anything wrong to yourself that was the cause of this effects.

      As a follow up for the audience interested in testosterone:
      This youtuber Dorian Wilson has made one of the best single videos on testosterone and it's interconnections with lifestyle factors, training and performance, but also does a damn good job to highlight T as a social and hierarchy-establishing + reflecting hormone.
      I appreaciate your message around testosterone and working on reducing the stigma around low testosterone struggles. Meanwhile you don't bring up social performance, hierarchy (like leader or follower e.g. at work), whether you're in a detrimental relationship, sexual rejection, masculine character traits or the way you perceive your function/ position within society as factors influencing and reflection testosterone status.
      ua-cam.com/video/BtHg1AJwOzs/v-deo.html
      As a fun fact I learned from Andrew Huberman's podcast: Even certain volatile compounds in a woman's tears can significantly suppress testosterone and sexual desire in men. So even reconsidering if you want to be with someone who sexually rejects your approaches a lot or something like improving the way you handle arguments/fights in a relationship can potentially resolve someone's cause for low testosterone.

      @@saldistefanomaps Hey, to be honest it's cool that you engage this close with your audience. Of course, as a fan of your attitude it feels a little special to receive a response :-)
      Aside from fanboy comment - consider watching the video in my second comment. I really think that it might broaden the dimensions you can reply to your audience around testosterone to include T as a dynamic social status hormone.
      To finish off I include a link to an in-progress playlist collection about my favorite adaptogens.
      I've been looking into adaptogens for the last two and a half years (created 14 stacks for different purposes) and now work on the playlist as a way for others to look into characterizations themselves around compounds I consider effective.

      Going long periods of rest, trying to minimize movement as much as possible, is not a good idea for recovery unless you have an actual serious injury.
      Keep moving, use lighter weight until you feel better enough to go back to your more intense regular stuff. You want to keep driving blood and nutrients to areas than need recovery 👍

    • @natiqshamim7581
      @natiqshamim7581 2 роки тому

      Programs like 5x5 / GVT are still better than the majority of crap programs floating on internet. But one needs to know where exactly to put it in & that too for not long periods of time. Maps programs are unique in their warm-up (Priming), phasing, modifications/customisations etc. They are not your typical free magazine workout programs. Having said that, it be great to have Mind Pump come out with their own version of 5x5 program. Bet it would be a masterpiece for sure & sell like hotcakes 😊

    • @DylanDocker
      @DylanDocker 2 роки тому +1

      @@natiqshamim7581 MAPS Anabolic is good but why does it have so many random isolation exercises? It's the closest thing they have to a core compound lift program. It still has a lot of weird accessory exercises.

    • @natiqshamim7581
      @natiqshamim7581 2 роки тому

      @@DylanDocker Maps Anabolic has full body workouts 2-3 times/wk. If by isolation & accessory exercises you mean their "trigger sessions", which are done on off days, perhaps you are treating it as a proper workout. Maybe modifying your intensity of these trigger sessions to simply feeling a small pump & burn might help. The rationale of these trigger sessions is to keep the anabolic window of building muscle open throughout the week, even though one is technically not "working out" on these days. Also, trigger sessions are recommended to be done in approx 10 minutes or so 1-3 times a day. To my knowledge, no other training program has these trigger sessions, and that's what makes this program unique & proprietary, not to mention highly effective for both muscle building & fat loss.

    • @DylanDocker
      @DylanDocker 2 роки тому

      @@natiqshamim7581 I wasn't talking about trigger sessions because I get the point of them, although I am not sure how effective they are. If they were that effective, why don't other programs have anything similar for off days/rest days?
      The main issue with Anabolic is the random exercises in the main phases that aren't the compound lifts. For example, hammer curls, dumbbell shrugs, skullcrushers, tricep extensions, calf raises, leg raises.
      All of that is really unnecessary and there should be a sole focus on compound lifts. All the other programs that are good like 5/3/1, 5x5, only focus on squat, bench, deadlift, row, and press.

    • @thephilb
      @thephilb 2 роки тому

      @@DylanDocker Stronglifts does include Barbell Curls and skull crushers on the additional arm work version Medhi also wrote, also includes weighted weighted Chin-ups and Dips. I can see the point about over-use but 4 weeks seems like you're dropping it right as soon as you're starting to really get into your grooves. I did it for about 8 weeks before getting any issues or plateaus at all. Been doing it about 5 months now without major issues. Anyway, is MAPS a waste of money? They seem very smart and knowledgeable but it seems a bit convoluted.
