Thank you for pointing out some helpful subtleties on this classical effect.
Here is my explanation why this trick (almost always) works:
The 9th card from the bottom equals the 44th card from the top.
The number of cards in each pile and the value of the matching card on top always adds up to 11.
So following the procedure will let you always arrive on the 44th card, which is your prediction.
Exception: If all four piles are covered because there is no match, the last cover card is your prediction.

It's easy to understand why it works, but it's really powerful effect and really unexpected. To understand why it works, imagine the scenario where no card matches and you end up dealing 11 card 4 times, that's 44, the last card is the predicted one, so you need at least 1 to match for it to work, so lets say on the 4th pile, the 1 matches, that gives us a 1, the next card is the predicted. If instead a 2 matches, then we are 2 cards from the prediction.

It is interesting that you write with your left hand, yet handle cards in a way that a right-handed person usually does. As for me, I am right-handed both with cards and pen but I do overhand shuffle as if I were a left-handed magician. It’s probably because I learnt it like that as a small kid :)
Yes it's odd that all my life I only write Left Handed but am right handed with cards, golf clubs, pool cues etc... Weird!!!!
This trick really comes down to dealing 11 cards for each pile. The number you say out loud as you deal is just how many more you need to get to 11. "I dealt 1 card and need 10 more", "I dealt 2 cards and need 9 more", etc. All the way to "I dealt 10 cards and need 1 more."
If no card ends up matching, then you deal the 11th card immediately, face down. In other words, "I dealt 11 cards and need 0 more."
The shortfall for all the piles is dealt in the final step by adding up the card faces from the top of each pile and dealing that number of cards.
Since there are 4 piles, that means 44 cards are ultimately dealt. And the 9th card from the bottom of a deck of 52 just happens to be the 44th card.
Great video. I have a question. Does anyone here know the trick where you ask spectator to name a suit an say they say clubs you say your gonna try to put the card you think there gonna say in a certain spot so you cut the deck. Then you set cards down an ask them to name a number from 1-13 which is ace thru king. A say they say 4 so you pull out paper says prediction x4 so now you have 4 of clubs you multiply 4x4 which is 16 a you deal down 16 cards a the 4 clubs is there ?

Hypothetically- if none of the cards match in all four piles, the card that you use to cap the final pile would be the force card (if my math is correct). Any suggestions on how to reveal that card in a logical way?
Yes you are correct. This has happened to me twice in many years. I simply use a magicians force to get the last face down card chosen. I would ask them to pick up any face down card. If its the end one, you've hit the jackpot! Otherwise perform usual method for ending up with the predicted card. Trust me this does not happen too often.

I checked the 9th card from the bottom and it was..... Q of Diamonds.
In the explanation you say they shuffle the cards AFTER you’ve shown the faces and noted number 9. I assume that’s a mistake as you didn’t shuffle at that point in the demo?
Hi, that is correct they cannot shuffle after you've noted the 9th card from the bottom. In the video explanation I think I said "you SHUFFLED them", although it does sound like I said SHUFFLE!!!!! Thanks for the comment.
