My friend have W 124 1986 year! Motor OM 606 , 2.0 diesel ! He drawing this car every day! And I think my friends old w 124 can go around the world vith out problems in this time
At writing this here at 6.50am Malaysia time 2nd March 2024, I actually just woke up and going to collect my 'recovered' W124. I have a W124 230E 4 cylinder for almost 12 years now as a 4th owner. It worked superb but as the wear and tear goes sent it to do restoring. While restoring it in 2021 in a workshop, it unfortunately got flooded for 11 feet. You can check out the nasty flood in December 2021 in Malaysia, the worst flood with 3 days no stop rain. Since 2022 to 2023 it was mostly sitting in my lot while looking for trusty restorer until 2024. The car was not driveable due to issues with engine (just found out the fuel tank got water inside that messed my fuel and tank, flooded 124 must get the fuel tank out to clean it!). Although mine was sunk 11 feet, my mechanic say the chassis was remarkably much better than most W124 he repaired resulting him have more motivation to help mine getting 'recovered" at least. My interior was beaten as many wood element destroyed. But as for all basic functions, all we manage to make it run at least. It's interior does smell bad but due to budget wise, at least make it driveable first. But this example you shown here is hell lot of rust. Interior seems fit mine as we are also right hand drive here. This unit is super tough and expensive to get restored. Unless a true passionated owner with much money to spend can save her sadly. Save the bits for 124 like mine just that I am too far. Nice interior.
Sorry to hear man. If on Facebook please share the story to this group of mine My Beautiful Old Mercedes Facebook group, a place you can share your older Mercedes: facebook.com/share/MxGVQakQMs6DdHy8/?mibextid=K35XfP
@@oldmercguy Thanks for inviting. I've joined your page now. Cool stuff. Just that I am not always on FB ya. But let's see if I can share some story or maybe some technical information I grasped along the way or my W124 recovery. Have plan to make a video of the journey. Let's see. Cheers👍
Great job from the camera man!! So weird how the A-pillars and roof rusts like that. Never seen that on cars in Europe.
I haven't seen it here either. this one was parked next to the sea though for at least 4 years. Scary how much of an effect that had.

Where in Malaysia did you restore my friend ?
Thanks for the good content just wanted to know if there are any left hand drives 250 w123 series Mercedes around in SA thanks
There are a couple of LHD w123's here, but very few.
Hi,
What do you think of a w140 with the om603.912 NA engine?
Would be great. We sadly didn't get a diesel w140 here but I believe that they were offered with om606's elsewhere in the world.
