You don't decide how a new genre is called, it's the popular speech. That's how all the names of all the genres came to existence. It's not the first time progressive music gave birth to a new genre.

Well to be honest, all Djent and Modern Metal genres use kind of the same modal progressions in Aeolian, so... Tons of songs use the same progression that is used in the chorus of this song

Once something is repeated enough, it becomes a genre. Names find their origin in how people call things.
