I remember seeing this on Jack Parr--I was 13.. And telling classmates of the group called the Beatles, they laughed.

People must have realized right away their is more going on here than just another group with a great song.

First time I saw my Beatles.
My mum made me a collarless Beatle jacket like that.
The day after their Ed Sullivan show guys in my school combed their hair like that.
It made our Principal angry 🤣

I'm a musician because of the Beatles, they changed my life and I remember watching this show as an eight year old,why I was still up I don't know but I hated them,I thought they looked and sounded like beetles, horrible!,little did I know that in a few months I'd see and hear them again and absolutely love them, the Beatles next to my God and my family are the biggest influence on my life,God bless the Beatles! That mersey beat performance is so good, especially with the true audio, I can imagine how powerful it was

Yup. I remember sitting in our living room and she loves you came on. It's impossible to convey how totally unique they sounded ... It was like a bomb going off in my head. Everyone says Ed Sullivan was the first appearance. Nope. This was ... But I could never find it and started to doubt my memory. But there it is. It was as I said ... A brain altering moment. Strange. But true

I got up to go to the bathroom then wondered into the TV room, Pop was watching the Jack Parr show, they were on I was transfixed and my life was never the same, just got a booster for the rest of the really big show.

Cool to see! My young mom watched Jack Parr. At 4, I got to stay up late a few minutes w/her to see the "new host", Johnny Carson's 1st night. Both were classy older men to me as a child. Saw The Beatles 1st on Ed Sullivan, of course!

If you look at 01.24 bottom right, the British DJ Tony Blackburn looks like he has his own proto mop-top. Long career on pirate radio, BBC Radio 1 and various commercial stations. Still spinning discs on BBC Radio 2. No sign of Arnold though.

I don't know, it sorta seems like they just copied everyone that came after them.

This guy Parr would perfectly fit in with the current batch of unfunny & out of touch late night lame-o’s.

You don't know what you're talking about. Paar was of the World War II. generation. He later admitted that, of course, he had been making fun of them, also, that his judgment of them had been wildly, ridiculously wrong.
Jack Paar hosted The Tonight Show between 1957 - 1962. This is from the one hour Friday evening show he had on NBC between 1963 - 1965. He was one of the cleverest, wittiest men in the history of American entertainment. If you doubt me, do a You Tube search using the following keywords:
      jack parr jonathan winters spring
The whole thing is spontaneous. Jonathan Winters is making it up from moment to moment, and Jack Paar keeps up with him beautifully.
