Very nice, thank you for sharing. A couple of things you didn't mention so you may not know, or perhaps you do now. I saw that the buckled were chrome on the cover for your Hermes, the two metal shoulders on the outside of the handle. This means you Have a Deluxe Hermes 3000. All this really means in you have a nicer cover for your case. Have you been typing a long, and two hammers go at each other and get stuck so you use your hands to pull them back? You get ink on your fingers and you don't want that on your keys so now you get up to wash your hands now mad at the Swiss for not seeing it just a little better, I mean come on the Cousins across the pond have a hammer release button on their Smith Corona Galaxie Deluxe, (great typewriter by the way also a manual) So there you are scrubbing and cussing out Hermes, oh yeah, great typing machine in the world but they didn't add a hammer release, or jam fix....oh but they did.... Shhhhhh, it's a secret button, sort of, it not hidden, it actually in plan sight, it's just shared. Next time you encounter a jam, hit the Margin Release button, it's a Hammer Jam Release button too. (Bind Release is another name for it). Also be very careful when putting the lid on, I near screamed when I saw how fast you did that. Go slow and be sure you got the lid under the back lip and not under the frame, otherwise when you close it, it will bind up and then you will have a serious problem in you hands....as the only place to stick a screwdriver in, is in the front to pry on and this is how keys get damaged and broken the front can get deformed or damaged to destroyed. And yes, I promise to be more careful with putting the case on and taking it off. I do certainly not want to end up damaging my lovely typewriter!
That is awesome to have, what a great gift, I also have a portable mechanical typewriter and now out of curiosity I will have to get it out to see the differences, i also have a newer electronic typewriter, one thing you could have show is how to make corrections, thank you for sharing, I loved it
Thank you! Your Hermes 3000 is a British keyboard version with the Pound symbol and the extra fractions. The US keyboard version has the number zero symbol and only the 1/2 & 1/4 fractions.

The hermes is know for being a luxury typewriter, with basically Avery feature a typewriter can have. Also with the amazing feeling of typing.
