Thanks for your (always) honest review(s) - You are indeed my "go to guy" for these type of security devices - I consider you to be a one-man "Consumer Reports" reviewer. Thanks again sir!!!!
Hi there LifeHackster. Thank you for your very detailed video comparison of the RING and the WYZE video door bell cameras. It took me several days to do what you have done so very well here! Way to Go! And thank you for an excellent review. God bless! [I had to edit, because I had one of the products names incorrect].
A recent update for the Wyze doorbell has seemed to have fixed the sideways thumbnails, also the app loads much faster too and notifications are a little bit faster. The google home hub issue is being worked on, they just entered a test and are waiting on google for the ok, but I don't know if they fixed the sideways video as they said they were considering disabling the doorbell streaming on Alexa, google home hub. We'll have to see soon.
I love the Ring Peep Hole Cam more than the finest Enviz, Kangaroo, Abode Iota, Simpll, Blink, Wyze, other cams. { I constantly experiment with a multitude of cams & alarm systems} You rescued us again today with your excellent comparative review. Thank you for saving us a lot of frustration and time.
Wyze appears to be much more interested in expanding their product line rather than releasing a quality product in the first place. I'm done waiting for firmware updates to complete my product.
About the power supply issue: Your power supply is indeed 18VAC but is only rated for 500mA=0.5A which is equal to 18V*0.5A=9VA, where the wyze website shows it requires 10VA of power or more
Thanks for the clarification...just a note though, all video doorbells that I have used this power adapter for has worked without issues. Someone has mentioned that it is not even the power supply and it is known issue with the wyze doorbell for their stuck IR filter.
@@LifeHackster I just installed my Wyze doorbell and found out my power supply was not good enough, rather than installing a new door chime transformer. I decided to daisy chain from a near by camera and BOOM working perfectly.
In my opinion compare to doorbells from: Wyze, Arlo, Ring the winner is Eufy. Sound very important for doorbell (Wyze always has issue with clear audio recording), Ring has low video quality, Arlo both from time to time. Plus all mentioned above require subscription to get all features. Only Eufy has no subscription at all and decent quality and functionality.
Basically, sound is better on ring. Wyze is great when you're not at an angle like your porch. Overall based on head to head, ring is a better product.
I want to add one for my mother in law. Looking for the easiest one to use. What would be your suggestion. Love the videos always look forward to them thanks
can do a review ASAP of DAHUA HDW3849H-AS-PV, this is 8mp give full color video in night , you looks to honest reviews and many people really need your opinion asap. please do consider.
Thanks for this very telling review of the Wyze bell. It's half baked and needs more refining. Ring on the other hand wind hands down. Ring ....A plus. Wyze a solid fail.
@@LifeHackster yeah, I noticed that on the website last night. You can actually see the wall plug sticking above the doorbell. Bit of a bad design, might have to fork out for a plate to hide it.
Look, I know Ring products are expensive and I have tried every other product I can to get out of Ring's ecosystem but I just keep returning to Ring. There products are expensive but they just work, plain and simple, and there customer service for me has been excellent. I have given up trying other products and stick to Ring now
I have a Ring Doorbell and for what it’s worth I think I got my money’s worth even though I wish the notifications were much quicker. Ring is under Amazon so you know they’ll be financially backed for future developments rather than these other companies who just don’t have the funds or probably talent to keep up with the Ring design team. You do get what you pay for though.
Hey LifeHackster, why don't you make a video on your phone and show us a phone screen recording to show how you have all your security camera apps setup, Google Home and Amazon Alexa apps setup and what devices are connected and which skills they use? Sure would be a great in-depth video!
Wyze is only interested in pushing their subscription service because they think they’re Ring, they’re not even close. They didn’t charge for person detect before and now they do after a lot of people bought the first 2 Wyze cams, if they didn’t do this bait and switch I would probably have given the doorbell a chance. Their products is typically just so so to “ok” I’d rather pay Ring.
I prefer the look/design of my old Ring doorbell to the new Wyze doorbell. I like that the Ring comes with 3 free color caps so you can swap out silver for the bronze/brown color like he has in the video. I was thinking of modding my wyze doorbell, but unfortunately the bad design of it has that ugly large Bell symbol on the front that has to be visible for setup and troubleshooting. In the Ring, it's more elegant, they have an LED circle ring around the button that flashes or changes color depending on the mode, so modern and simple. I want to like my Wyze, I have many Wyze products and tons of wyze cameras, but that ugly large bell symbol in the front makes it so unnecessarily ugly. I thought about making a wood cover for it, or spray painting it, but it's not really possible with the current design due to the way the front Bell symbol light needs to be visible for setup and diagnosis. Why couldn't they design a setup indicator that is more elegant and inconspicuous than the bell symbol for the press button, it's not modern or elegant. I could think of many ways to make it look more modern and clean or a way to make it so it could be covered with optional color caps, but it would require a total redesign of the front. One of the big complaints on the Wyze doorbell is that they made that front Bell symbol part so large that it lights up so much at night, it's distracting. Ring was smart to keep the led light to a simple spinning ring around the round button only. I hope that at least Wyze can make some color cap options as accessories, but honestly they should be included like Ring Pro does as a lot of people like the Brown/bronze or the Satin nickel option on Ring. If they redesigned a new Wyze doorbell that got rid of the ugly large bell symbol in the front, and with optional color caps, I would buy it and just give my old one to a friend. Every time I see my ugly wyze doorbell it makes me sad since the Ring I took down looked so much better.
I returned the Ring.....found out that you can NOT continuously view a Ring video stream. There is a 10 minute limit. There is no solution......I googled everywhere for a work around. Think twice if you want this feature. Wyze will allow you to continuously watch a video stream.
I don't like the way Ring plays.. You can't watch the new Wired Doorbell on a computer! How hard is it to make Wired Doorbell like all their other cams that you can watch on a laptop??? I think they took that functionality out because Wyze doesn't do it is all I can figure.
I cant support WYZE anymore. I dislike any company that gives you a feature for free for 14 days and because you dont decide to pay them a monthy fee they remove that feature. Either sell the product as is or dont. I would gladly pay $100 for their V3 camera if it kept the feature and didnt bug you repeatedly for a subscription.
I was watching this video with this guy saying wyze is ok if you don’t use it for security! But if your not using it for security then why buy it at all you couldn’t really use it baby monitor the delays on the notifications could be problematic he explained to say well you can use it to say you can see and talk to your kids when they get home and I guess that maybe true but now days kids have tablets and cell phones etc it’s easy now days to call or message or even FaceTime or even Facebook message your kid to see where there at I’m mean wyze would be perfect if you lived in the 80s or 90s even some of early 2000s I mean I was thinking about there stuff because it is cheap but as everyone knows you get what you pay for and as some people say even some of there prices went up can you imagine paying more fire stuff that works bad I don’t know I’m out
most recent problem with wyze doorbell, it gets hot and turns off and disconnects from the WiFi, I'm tired of resetting and reconnecting everything, I give up wyze, I'll just get a ring one

Ring Pro 2 video coming soon?
Yes..soon.
Thanks. The sound on the Wyze is quite bad as well.
Yes. Audio on the Wyze is not that great.
You should test out the ring alarm outdoor siren with the ring alarm system
I have to check it out. Thanks.

Does anyone know if ring door bell are weather proof? I want install one on my side gate door with solar panel .

Thanks for this very telling review of the Wyze bell. It's half baked and needs more refining. Ring on the other hand wind hands down. Ring ....A plus. Wyze a solid fail.
The pink was not due to the ac adapter. It was the IR filter stuck on. It's a common issue with the Wyze doorbell.
Thanks for the info.
Has this been fixed on wyze as of yet? Any issue you mentioned
Great review. I think Wyze should stay out of the doorbell game. I have a couple of their products but the doorbell is my least favorite.
You're right. They do uber great on certain products.
@@chuckbecker8735 Absolutely right about that.
I sure wish the Wyze came in black
Adjust the wyze motion detection it be quicker notification
What is that backplate you have the Ring Wired on?
I used the one from the old Ring Pro. I do have to make another screw hole though. Ring does now make a mounting plate for the wired.
@@LifeHackster yeah, I noticed that on the website last night. You can actually see the wall plug sticking above the doorbell. Bit of a bad design, might have to fork out for a plate to hide it.
Hi....what was the other Wyze product you stopped using?
The outdoor cam, V3 is better with color night vision. Check his review on it.
What transformers do they use?
Have you tested the Wyze security system fully yet?

Wyze just doesn’t cut it. Their design is slow and the FOV of the camera is terrible. Speed wins here and the title goes to Ring
I stopped wanting the Wyze as soon as the cam went dark
Haven't watched but it's obvious that the wired will win. It's basically a ring pro without 5g and color vision
