Cheating Death

Nice job by the Children's Theater Company! Synopsis: Death visits a mental hospital and finds that the mentally ill are more cleaver than he expected. When the Angel of Death visits a mental hospital to collect someone on his list, he accidentally reveals himself to the wrong person. After struggling to convince the patients of his identity, Death attempts to correct his potentially fatal mistake and demands to know which one of them is actually the one he came for. But the patients refuse to give up their friend, even after Death insists that if he doesn’t perform the touch of death within the allotted time, the consequences could be disastrous. Death must resort to drastic measures and even joins the group session in order to win this deadly battle of wits.

Honestly this is an amazing script weighed down by a pretty flaccid performance here. I’m not gonna blame it all on the actors or anyone in particular, but this can be and has been done much better. I would know, I’ve seen it. When it’s performed right, this play really comes to life and everything gets a lot more fun and enjoyable. I’d be sad for anyone seeing this and dismissing the play because of it.

I played Bob back in 7th grade (circa 2013/14) but sadly we couldn't put the show on due to other cast members pissing off the drama teacher! I was so excited since it was going to be my first play but sadly it didnt happen. Death came for "GMS' production of "Cheating Death" instead of Alex Johnson! Rip.
