- A transcription of Paloma Cobbs-Silva's last cadenza on VIP's Boogie performed at Essentially Ellington 2022. This one took a lot of work, which is also I didn't transcribe every solo in this recording. Still, I had to do something from this because of how absolutely incredible it was. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
Original: • Essentially Ellington ...
i paid for the whole clarinet, im finna use the whole clarinet
Do you think I could do that?
@@Gearoid01 with practice for sure
What does "finna" mean?
@@anthony-ud4toslang for “going to”
@@KhKh-bg9wz Thank you
i love the collective gasps from the audience
Paloma is definitely one of those students who comes around once in a blue moon. She is one of the most talented sax/clarinet players in high school that I know.
HIGH SCHOOL...

Dangggg that’s crazy impressive
As a clarinet player I can confidently say that I can’t play that
0:29 legit me when I get frustrated at what Ravel cooked up for Daphne and Chloe suite; a "fuck it im spamming the arpeggio up and down till it sounds clean enough" moment
but god damn the projection and quality of her sound!
As someone who played clarinet in high school, how does a high school student achieve such a level of mastery??
Probably by starting much, much younger than high school.
@@JScaranoMusic either that or practicing very consistently for a long time
Practice and dedication.
@@JScaranoMusic Ain’t that the truth
Probably sold her soul
That's my sister and I'm so proud of her :)

Thank you so much for the transcription! ❤
another great transcription from you. thanks, will play it today!!
congrats to paloma, great performance!
Clarinet jazz pieces 👌👌
I was there live! Louis said he was really trying hard to hang on for dear life at the end of the night. Super impressive player. Lovely guy and I would recommend to anyone to go and see him play. 👍👍🔥🔥🎺🎺
This sounds like if Debussy wrote jazz
Incredible tone and great rhythmic variety. Awesome job!!!
She KILLED that solo! The Rhapsody In Blue part was 🔥 for someone THAT young
F*cking hell that's an insane cadenza!
Hats off Paloma!!!
Squidward could never
woohoo yeahhh thats amazing
Heheh you show off how awesome and useful notation is and its limitations. Great stuff!
Her facial expressions just show how hard that is, good job hon
That feeling when knee surgery is tomorrow

Magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am stank facing so hard rn.

Can confirm I have never seen a piece with more range
"Rhapsody in Blue it" 😂
Awesome skill
... elle est simplement divine, cette jeune fille.
i wanted to make a joke, but it was too damn good.
Clarinettist when testing a new clarinet 😂
Played parts of this last year for a marching band show, got jumpscared when i read Buckaroo Holiday

If pee wee russell had a perfect articulation He would sound like this haha
What I wish to accomplish with the clarinet
i have to play this as an audition wish me luck 😭😭😭😭
im sorry for playing clarinet for 6 years
For anyone wondering, this is what real avant garde playing sounds like. not that horrible crap with random noise that's meant to orchestrate a certain feeling in you. See this is proper phrasing.
highly debatable
@@LeanneHolloway-cy2uo Actually no it isn't, I'm very goddamn clear on what I state. Goodbye 👋 goodbye.
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar okay don’t have to be a bitch about it
@@WitchKing-Of-Angmar A statement being debatle doesn't mean you weren't clear about it... it just means you do not hold the truth, merely an opinion
This is literally a Jazz piece with a Jazz solo, this isn’t Avant Garde.
She’s kinda good she should try playin tattooed bride sometime 👀
Fr
"Rhapsody in Blue it" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
come back pls
What do you use to transcribe things??
Yow 😮
Is that CG5 at 0:25 😆
I bet he’s been practicing that for months
😭 This is really good, but I didn’t like it. I came to the comments expecting critiques about embouchure or something. You can tell she’s more of a sax player with that embouchure. I don’t think it’s good to play clarinet like that. Now I’m not hating. I think it’s good. I’m a skilled player myself, but the tone wasn’t it, nor the tuning on that last note. I played the blue shades solo not very long ago with a Dub C included. Search up WMHS Nashville Blue Shades if you’re interested.
Bro really thinks he’s all that. Dawg get ur corny ass outta here
She’s originally a clarinet player 😭
He can use the whole instrument….. but doesn’t sound any good doing it.
Idk about you but that tone is heavenly
I’ve heard solos like this that are equally good and much better
It's impressive but it really doesn't sound good. There was no real feeling or emotion I felt while listening. All I saw and heard was just notes blizting in my ears. And I'm a clarinetist myself so I know how hard it is, but just to me it really wasn't that good sounding :p
No comments in six minutes, bro fell off 😔
You did not need to bring brain rot to a channel like this
