If I heard it correctly on the BBC I understand Maia Bouchier is now 10 for 19 in run-outs.. five times herself and five times her partner. That is inexcusable.

England and Australia played the same match. Both didn't go hard enough from the start, both without their captains and both fielded beneath their standards.

South Africa and West Indies showed the way to " entertain and inspire " is the to play the game in front of you , its called game management not playing the game in a meeting room 2 days before .

Regarding the England captaining decisions during their defeat; there would be nothing stopping Knight or Lewis telling NSB to bowl Ecclestone after the drinks break. They have to take responsibility if that wasn’t part of the plan and/or not communicating that to NSB.

In terms of the squad i don't think you needed both Gibson and Kemp in there. That way you can fit in Bell and Filer in the 15.

England more or less flagged up Heath and Kemp were unlikely to play at all in the WC given their participation in Ireland. So yes I agree.

I think fitness should be an open subject. Everyone gets on the men (Ollie Robinson! ) if they need to get fitter.

👏👏👏For England Players playing domestic cricket. It’s insane that Lewis doesn’t use it.

Its the Meg Lanning factor !! She drove that Australia team forward , Healy is not in the same league as Lanning and McGrath is not in the same league as Healy . The cracks have been showing for a little while .

The documentary of Australian Women's Cricket team retaining the Ashes demonstrated that an extremely young Australian Cricket captain Meg Lanning was initially operating according to instructions by Mathew Mott. Lanning grew into the job & the trio of Mott, Lanning & Rachel Haynes were unbeatable. Lanning & Mithali Raj were ruthless to their seam bowlers: 2 boundaries conceded in an over by a seam bowler, the bowler was lucky to be asked to bowl again in the match. Consecutive transgressions in as many matches, that bowler would struggle to retain their place in the XI for the series.

You can’t pick the next captain from the current England squad because Heather Knight has engineered the England Squad in that way. She should be gone for the Blackface scandal never mind her mismanagement of England. There are a hundred professional English players. 8 of them are captains.

England didn't factor NRR for the WI to overtake England after losing the first match was the decider. Not the players fault the coaches are to blame.

England have an opening batter like Laura Wolvaardt whose surname begins with "B".

The subject of fitness shouldn't be a touchy one, these are professional sportswomen and there are standards they should be held to. There's more to being professional than just getting paid, there's all kinds of standards that come with earning that label, but you can see Lyds here not really interested in talking about the topic. They want equal money, they want all the benefits of professionalism but when it comes to earning the label, the defensiveness rears up. There are players in that team who look ten years older than they are and run like they're twenty years older. It's not right.

Yes, talk about fitness, but there is a dangerous line between talking about fitness and making comment on women's bodies, which is sadly what it has led to.

@@CpB1K2123 I think that's a cheap way of getting out of the discussion though. Not saying that's what you're doing, but it's a convenient way of avoiding the topic of fitness. Remember all the fuss when South Africa started putting fitness targets on their squad? I was one who thought they were being very unfair at the time, but they were right to do it.

@@Me-gy7yk I don't disagree with talking about fitness at all if the topic of discussion revolves about ability to run between wickets and fielding. However, I do disagree when talking about fitness as if it is about the weight of players. Weight does not equal fitness, and I personally think people need to be careful when having these discussions, as so many comments have revolved around people sadly commenting on the weight of the players, verbally abusing them and being horrible in general.

    • @Me-gy7yk
      @Me-gy7yk 3 дні тому

@@CpB1K2123 That's true, body shape doesn't equal fitness. Uou only have to look at certain players who are not in the side at the moment, who are short and stocky but are rapid between the stumps and very good in the field. However it shouldn't mean you cannot mention a player or two in the current team who look overweight and are clearly unfit. They're puffing and blowing (blowing a gasket as Alex Hartley put it) and the fact they're female shouldn't stop that being pointed out, as long as it doesn't descend into abuse.

    • @CpB1K2123

@@Me-gy7yk I don't disagree but again, the whole "overweight and clearly unfit" is the problem here - I just think it is never ok to single someone out for their weight. Talk about their ability to perform cricket yes, but talking about their weight is never ok - male or female. As cricket commentators, we should never be speaking about someones weight, we should leave that to the professionals involved e.g. the dietitian and fitness coaches. Meg Lanning is someone who has spoken about the affects of disordered eating, and we should not be encouraging conversation about individuals weight in the media. Also the problem I had with Alex Hartley's comments were that she was clearly singling about certain players without having the bravery to name them. If you're going to single them out, do it properly or not at all (I'd rather not at all as I don't agree that any individual should be singled out in a team sport). By leaving it open to interpretation it has allowed people to start criticising and insulting specific players that they view as 'unfit'. I don't have a problem with her mentioning fitness, but the vagueness of the "20%" is not something I am interested in.
