I am a master mechanic. I was laughing the entire video about the way he is explaining everything. That said every word he said is correct. This is the way.
Your video saved me hours on this repair . I followed your instructions and was done in a few hours. What a pain it would have been removing the entire dash Thank you 🙏🏽
@@benz240d You happen to still have a link for the newer design heater core that is long enough to completely bypass and remove the regulator? I am looking for a replacement from rockauto and I am concerned that it will not be the updated design. I cant find it on Amazon.
@@benz240d Thanks! I got the correct part. One last question, for the heater core itself, all you have to do is remove the bolts from the coolant regulator and remove the rubber hoses from the engine bay side? Is there no hardware holding the actual heater core to the black plastic air box inside the cabin? Does it just slide out after you bend the metal for clearance? Thank you so much! You are the only reference I have and you gave me so much info!
My Versa started leaking in the same place and after learning I had to remove the entire dash I decided to try 1/2 a can of sealer. So far it's working, but we'll see how long it lasts. If the sealer doesn't work, then I will follow your method. Thank you for posting. Although not listed in the manual, I think the regulator valve is part of the vehicle's planned obsolescence system...in the event that the CVT does not fail.
Thanks for the video man. Saved me hours and $$$. This original design has to be one of dumbest design ideas in the history of auto manufacturing. My problem wasn't even the heater core. It was the heater control valve. I literally snatched it out once I got to it.
The commentary on this video made me cry laughing. You are right, removing all that bullshit on top is not worth it. I have a 2017 versa. When my heater core goes. I'm bending the same parts and skipping the bullshit. Cheers! LMFAO
I noticed your 2008 hoses are rubber, do you know if the same method would work on my 2007 that has metal hoses in the exterior? I figured I could move them a little bit so it might not be as big of a problem as thought of
If you are talking about the ones on the firewall at the engine bay, they are rubber on 2007 and 2008 and attach to metal pipe coming from the exterior. If I understand you question correctly.
@@benz240d what I meant is that the pipes from engine bay are metal going into the interior and connect to the flow regulator and then the metal pipes connected to the heater core
@@carabesjuancarlos i don't remember, its been a while. But if you live somewhere that is warm all the time, then you can bypass it. You can get the bypass piece at the auto part store.
Dude you rock. I was looking at my Daughters, 2007 Versa and saying to myself there is no Friggin way I am taking the dash apart. I tried burping the coolant, still no heat. All tests and signs point to the heater core. I went to go order that on Amazon and the shipping is like a month and a half. My daughter will be frozen by then. I checked local parts stores and they want $100 more. Ebay also has them, same part number put the picture looks different. Im still looking to get the part, but I will be bending and cutting. I must ask, how did you get those hose clamps off on the firewall engine side? They are so fat back I cant fit my giant hands that deep.
Update. There was a metal rod coming from the front heater dial that ran next to the Heater Core that went to the control valve that should not even be there. Well that rod broke off and was hanging. It went to the control valve. I pulled that valve handle to the rear of the car and I get heat. It was pushed closed and the rod broke off so it wasn't working. Now my daughter has heat. A simple fix that took me hours to research.
@@BruceWayne-oz6lr Hi, I'm glad you found the problem. Usually that what goes bad of the heater corse is not leaking. The repair above only goes for the ones that leak coolant by the pedals. Good work.
I am thinking that I have an issue with my heater core in my 08 versa. My floor on the driver side (back and front) are getting saturated with a greenish fluid I'm assuming is coolant. Do you think that would be a likely cause?
@@benz240d I am preparing to do this job tomorrow. I have one last question I wanted to see if you could answer. I see you took out the pedals and the piece of the dash above them. But what about under the hood in order to reach the connection at the firewall? It looks like you removed the battery and the air cleaner assembly. Is that all that was necessary?

What kind of clamps do you need for the inside end?
Isn't that regulator needed to change between heat or AC?
No,
It's only there for flow control. Not needed! Most cars don't have it.

Would you be able to bypass the heater core from the hood area or would I need to remove the dash to access the hoses ?
You can bypass it from under the hood if you don't need heat in your region.
Will the car air con blows hot air all the time when you fit the modified heater core or it works as before with hot and cold selection ?
It will work the same way. You will still have air conditioner. Wont affect the cold. Its two different air passages controlled by a blend door.
Will that make the ac not to work?
Has nothing to do with the ac side. Ac has its own evaporator.
How did you remove the metal part
Which one?

I'd believe so.
Do i need the heater core valve/controller
No you dont.

if the Heater core is still good couldn't you just rip out the regulator and bypass it?

Does this mean that the car interior will always be hot after removing the regulator?
The heater core will always have hor coolant in it. So to make things easy, you just cancel ir.
What do you mean cancel it? Does the interior not run hot after removing the valve?
Do you have part number??
