Had the privilege of playing this under the direction of Steven Ford (Richard Smallwood’s arranger and organist) at Eastern University. Powerful song. Wonderful interpretation.
Ditto on sebastians remarks. From hearing you play we all know what you “can” do but you took the classy approach. Nice of Sebastian to recognize that also. Good work to both.
I hear what wheatworkpro is saying about respecting the songwriter. I felt this was a great version, didn't go too outside where you don't recognized the song. This version was way better than the Dennis Montgomery version in my opinion. Dennis version felt too jazzy.
Amazing performance!! But I feel like u should rename the title of this video "part 1" or "performance" and the second one where he actually explains the chords "part 2" or "breakdown" because they both have the same title. And it's kind of confusing.
3:38 is such a unique tritone progressive movement
Listened to this over and over. I agree. It’s the best respectful and tasteful version.

This was something special. Kept the beauty of the song but added his own flavour. 💫
