Hello everyone, Here is the third episode on my continuing How To Make A bow series. Today's bows are tiny ribbon bows that are perfect for presents, cards, or as a decoration. Use any colour of your choice, it does not matter what style either, the tutorial is geared towards all types of ribbon. The only tool I am using today is my hands. No bowdabara or any tool along those lines, just your fingers!!!! Keeping it nice and simple. If you want to see more bow tutorials, let me know and I'll keep them coming or if you have any requests, leave those in the comments below.
Thank you, thank you! FINALLY, a video where you can actually see where the last ribbon is placed to tie the bow. I’ve seen so many that go so fast and block the view so you can’t see the placement of the ribbon that actually locks it all together. So frustrating, so I gave up. Thanks so much for doing another great teaching lesson. Your just what my “brain freeze” needed. Wishing you a very merry holiday filled with many blessings!
Hi Sharon...thank you so much for watching and for such a wonderful comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial...and can finally see where that final ribbon is placed. "brain freeze" gave me quite the chuckle, so thank you for that. You have a very happy holiday as well.
That was me sharon I have bought a Bowdabra & I bought a Bow Maker called Celebrate It & I haveen't used either one of them yet I watch video's all the time . Have a good day 😊
Probably the best and simplest video. I especially like how you use a small ribbon and gave a specific measurement of 14" inches for a tiny bow. Exactly what I'm working with
Oh Dave ! I love this tutorial ! Making a crochet granny square vintage tree with buttons and I thought for added texture tiny ribbon bows would be adorable. You never disappoint 🧶🎄🎀
Dave, once more your brilliance shines! As many have stated, others have tried, but failed, to show the UA-cam universe how to do this and have crashed and burned. You have broken down the steps so that we could not only SEE them, but also UNDERSTAND them. Kudos and many thanks from a grateful crafter!
Hi Patti, thank you so so much for watching and for such a wonderful and kind comment. I appreciate it. You put a smile on my face first thing in the morning....Thank you!!
Thank You so much for sharing your amazing “How to make” these bows! Thank You for breaking it down, slowly demonstrating step by step. You are another best for explaining & showing us all the “how to’s” not only for the bows but for your wreaths!!! You are the best!!! Thank You & Have a Very Merry Christmas!!!
Hi Deborah...thank you so so much. I really and sincerely appreciate the comment. You totally made my morning with your kind words. You and your family have a magical and wonderful Christmas as well. All the best.
Hello Sharon...oh that's great that you don't have to buy your bows anymore. Now you can totally make them all by hand. YAY!!! LOL...I'm glad I'm your hero!!! LOL. 😁 😁 😁
Hi Tamala...these little finger bows have to be one of the highest requested tutorials since I started the bow making videos...I'm so happy and glad you enjoyed the video!!! 😁😁😁
Cute bows! I just love the way you narrate in clear detail on how to do whatever you're making! It makes it easy to learn how to do it! Keep up the beautiful ideas! Can't wait to see what s next! 🎉
No tools!!! Heeeeeeheeeeeeee!!! I love it!! So genius! And you know--I need that ruler!! Where did you get it??? You are cracking me up-just hands!!!! You give good directions! I love this video so much!! And the music! So relaxing!! ❤️❤️❤️
You Rock Dave… I have big hands to but out of all the videos I watched, yours was the easiest. I watched one where she had two inch nails.. she made it look so easy. I was going to give up stumbled on yours, thx again!💕
Hi Rhonda....glad I'm not the only one with big hands. HAHA. Thank you so much for saying that. I really appreciate it. I'm so glad you didn't give up!!! Thank you!!!
Love it! I'm an avid knot tyer and was trying to find someone who actually tied a Rosette Knot (ABOK 2414) but stumbled upon this gem. Great way to tie a bow knot and keep the loops even! Just have one side note - it's a swallow tail, not a dove tail. Swallows have that distinctive "v" shape while dove tails flare, hence the name for the wood joining technique.
Okay, I appreciate you giving directions using your left hand. I was at another channel and my bows weren’t coming out so I searched some more. After watching your I realized she was doing it right handed and I was lost…my bows looked awful. Thank you I finally have a bow that looks great!
I wish I had seen this video about 3 weeks ago when I had to make a bunch of little bows for a craft I was making. That sure would have made it so much easier. Thanks so much for this video. Now I know what to do in the future! Thanks Dave!!
Hi Deidre...oh darn, three weeks off eh? I'll try better next time. LOL. I'm glad you found it helpful and can use it in the future. How did your project go with making all those little bows? Thanks.
Ha! I’m supposed to be making a wreath for my sister’s baby shower. (It’s in 2 days. Thank you Dave for that awesome compilation video!! You have saved my behind there!) I’m a new subscriber, so I wanted to see what other videos you have made. Now here I am, making tiny bows like a boss! 🤣 I know that wreath isn’t going to make itself…. But…. BOWS!!! Y’all! How could anyone resist making the cutest little bows?!? Thanks for keeping me entertained tonight, Dave! I really appreciate the knowledge you have shared with us all. 🥰
Hello and thank you so much for watching and for the great comment. LMAO....you totally made me laugh this morning while reading your comment, so I must thank you for putting a huge smile on my face on this Friday morning. YAY!!! LOL. I'm so glad you liked the bows too....lol...they are addicting to make...you can never make just one!!! Have a good one and thanks again.
I just love this so much! The way you explain things, make it slower, it’s amazing! I’ve seen a lot of other ribbon bows making, most of them were really fast and you couldn’t much see the process or had to stop it each time it did a step, which was kinda annoying. But your videos are otherwise, you deserve 100k❤
Hi there, thank you. Keep trying, practice, practice, practice. I didn't get it my first dozen times either. HAHA. So keep trying I'm sure you'll get it.
I kinda have a little trouble making bows 🙇♀️ but I am going to try it again and again till I kn that they look pretty as yours do. I need to "leave it alone trenda " I always want everything to b perfect!!
Lol…not everything I do is perfect Trenda 😊😊😊…yes practice and practice. You’ll have some good ones and some bad ones, but that happens to us all. Keep at it and you’ll be a bow master in no time. ❤️😊
Not only did I do it...I was using ribbon with a design on only one side and with some twisting I was able to make the design show all the way!!! YAY!!!
@@DavesWreaths I made my very first Triple bow watching your video...somehow it ended up being a triple bow.😂 I truly enjoy watching your videos, your laughter is so warm & uplifting.😊
I love all three types. Soooo cute! Did you come up with this new way of making little bows? Great job! Have a Merry Christmas, Dave!! Don't eat too many cannolis:))
LOL...PK....there's no such thing as "too many" cannolis...LOL....or is there??? LOL. THank you so much. No, this is not my idea, I learned this technique years ago and have been trying to perfect it for just about that long....big fingers and tiny ribbons don't usually go hand in hand....LOL...(see what I did there??...LOL). You have an amazing Christmas yourself!!! 😁😁😁
Thank you I have been looking for a tutorial like this I havea female Cat & I put ribbons on her collar & I keep thinking I will be able to make nice little bows I will see thank you 🐰
Hi Linda…that is so cute that you out little bows on your little fur baby. Love that idea. Now you can make your own and ad them to your collection of kitty bows. 😊
Hi there, thank you for this great question. You can use a little home lighter or bbq lighter on the cut edges to stop the ribbon from fraying. Please use caution when doing this, you don't need a lot of flame or have the flame on the ribbon for a long time....it's a very fast, very quick movement, just to seal the cut edges. Hope that helps, and again, use caution when dealing with the lighter against the ribbon. Thank you.
@1malons I was nervous to do the technique at first, also. It is simple. Just move the flame quickly along the edge of your ribbon. Note: Some ribbons curl up with the heat more than others and lose the crisp cut edge look, so test before making your bow.
Hi Teresa, thank you. For a shiny side ribbon, I would just twist the ribbon around to face out when you're looping it around. If you're doing the shiny side down, then make sure all your ribbon faces down as well (the shiny side). You can do this by twisting the ribbon before the loops. Hope that helps. 😊
I can only make it as far as 1:56. After that your fingers are turned to the side and I have no idea how to continue. How am I supposed to see what's going on at 2:01 ?
Sorry you are having difficulty in seeing what is going on at that time stamp, at that point, I am just feeding the ribbon through the looped ribbon and then pulling it tight. Hope that helps.
Good instructional video. Very helpful! Next time you might want to clean your hands & nails before you begin... Not trying to be rude. I'm just Honest....

I agree. It is slow enough to give me time to figure it out! Thank you!
These videos successfully demonstrate the steps to make all three types of bows! Thanks again for sharing your techniques.
