  • Home built JM50 turbine. Having some bad luck getting her to start so far. Won't make enough rpms.

I start my jets with a modified hair dryer ! looks like no case pressure have a look at mine for some tips.

It's only making about 1.5 psi at 60,000 rpm

@@DandSCreations some of the parts look like jetjoe the turbine wheel and NGV castings but the wedge diffusor and inlet cover do not and look heavy poorly made how heavy is the complete engine ?
The combustor/combustion chamber seems long and needs 12 sticks to even combustion but you cannot just add more sticks as it will add more air at the front and will need designing in ,at 83mm diameter it is a small engine and everything gets more critical the gap loses increase with small engines and must be kept small /accurate/even this can happen if gaps on compressor wheel are not even all around.
what is the stated max rpm of the engine as 50k-60k is probably minimum self sustain rpm with 52mm wheels

@@reedy93 photos.app.goo.gl/xaTdCStvPZkJSgq58 this was a near-start. Propane only, this was determined to be extremely close to 60,000 rpms, since it was 6,000hz pitch, and there are 6 compressor blades (360,000/6)
Thats just my guess, based on the audio cues. The max RPM is stated to be 130,000. The engine is fairly light, bit I didn't weigh it. I didn't have any intention on flying it until after rigorous development. I can send pics to you on WhatsApp 254 702 6851

@@DandSCreations to run it on propane you need to set up a small oil tank to lube bearings ( same ratio as fuel + 5% oil) pressurized from the same takeoff tap you are taking pressure readings.
if you are using propane as a gas it may not supply enough with standard injector needles which should be about o.5 mm o/d if supplying propane at a liquid be very careful as instead of a pool of fuel on the floor you can end up with a gas cloud igniting .
my fuel for combustor and for lubricating bearings are separate so i can feed propane to injectors and fuel/oil to bearings .I noticed minijets shows them internally connected in one of his videos.
Propane is a degreaser and will take oil off bearings
