“My fault, I didn’t get the joke.” Poor thing. I also found it heartbreaking when she says Joker really does love her. And yet we all know that if he truly loved her, she wouldn’t have cuts, bruises as well as all the symptoms of emotional abuse and manipulation.
had better days that’s exactly how abusive relationships work. First is “Nobody will love you except for me” and distancing from family and friends, next is the hitting, punching, slapping and bruises, and finally it’s “I’m sorry, I won’t do it again, please come back” and the flowers and gifts. Then the cycle starts all over again.
Too bad Harley is too easily manipulated when it comes to Joker, why in my opinion being pushed out that window and almost dying should've been the biggest wake up call of Harley's life, i mean it sure would be for me if i were in her situation.
Though this episode is a good example of abusive relationships, and how heartbreaking they may be to witness, I’m glad in later interactions, Harley evolved into her own character. Independent from Joker and in a better relationship (Usually paired with Ivy, and or Cat Woman). It’s actually interesting in how, in some cases, she became more popular than Joker, and how much she’s evolved as a character.
It's not Harley's fault that she can't see the hate and abuse coming from Joker. In abusive relationships, the victim always figures it's their fault because of how manipulative their partner is. That's the sadness of this relationship.

A lot of people think (and Suicide Squad didn't help) that they had some sort of Bonnie and Clyde relationship. The more dedicated fans realize it was a relationship based entirely on emotional abuse.
This is why I like when Harley finally leaves and becomes her own villain/an anti-hero. Not only is she wonderful & actually quite the (if insane) genius on her own, but the way it always seems to irk the Joker that he can't control her anymore. Sure, in the new comics he eventually got a new sidekick, but still, it's wonderful to see that when he has no control over Harley, he has genuine competition for the crown of "Clown Prince of Crime"
People always argue that harley cant be a stand alone villian cause she would be nothing without the joker cause she's codependent. But id argue shes everything without the joker and more. She can finally be her own person.
On paper it sounds good but it takes a good writer to really make Harley shine. Just like Ultimate X-Men, there has yet been a writer who truly pulls off a solid Harley arc. They need to stop being cheap and pay Bruce Timm and Paul Dini to do her new comic. Those two Batman Animated creators understood what makes Harley great
I actually believe that in a way Harley is way more intelligent than Joker. She figured out the piranha thing on her own and many times the Joker's plans worked just because she helped him pull them off. And after she left him and became her own person, she did wonderfully. And here the Joker was mad at her not because "she doesn't get the joke", it's because she showed him that she could do better than him almost without effort

The part that gets me is that Harley actually believed that, once Batman was gone, the Joker would love her, thank her and settle down with her. She really believed she could have a happy couple life with that maniac after killing Batman, when the reality would be the total opposite of that. If she killed Batman, the Joker would snap, get angry, shout at her and finally kill her for taking away one of the things he wanted the most to achieve. I feel so much sympathy for Harley because she actually illuded herself thinking a maniac could love her with so much Care and love.
I guess he wants to be the one who does the bidding. Hes so hell bent on playing games with batman for excitment and thrill its like a drug to him he cant get enough of it. And if anyone were to take that away his purpose for comitting crimes would be no longer there. His muse would be shattered
ShinobiPXO Indeed. I hate how they emasculated him with for example Amanda Waller's narration "she's crazier than he is. more fearless too." This is happening too often to male characters nowadays.
But this is goals? Everyone wants this right? WRONG! He pushed her out of a window for capturing and almost killing Batman on her own. Even the man, her enemy who she hates, told her that he was lying to and using her.
@@nataliawashington872 I heard that BTAS based the Joker’s and Harley Quinn’s relationship on how the real Bonnie and Clyde and what their relationship was like in real life. Rather tragic.
Here's one question I wish we could actually hear Batman (or Poison Ivy for that matter) ask Harley: "Has Joker ever ACTUALLY SAID that he loves you?" For God's sake, the man beats up Harley more than any hero or cop ever has to bring the poor nutjob in; so him showing that he loves her seems out of the question, but in all the episodes of every series she's ever been in, all the movies, and even the video games I personally can't remember Joker ever saying it. At best he views Harley as a possession or tool, something he can throw out and replace when he's either tired of her, or she's been useful for the last time. I realize the woman is out of her mind and her devotion to the Joker is the most obvious symptom; but I have to ask, what exactly has the Joker done to actually gain and maintain such devotion? None of the questionably "good" things he's ever done for her seem like they should be enough.
DragonmanX90 he actually loves Harley the creators of Harley Quinn confirmed it but the scene you mentioned was actually in one of the comics called Harley loves joker issue 2 where Harley talks with her other self and how she could be like without the joker and the other Harley asks that exact question
He also felt bad because he tricked Harley into contacting the Joker. Batman was completely powerless his only way out was for Joker to interfere which meant witnessing Harley being abused. Because he knew Joker wouldn't give anyone the honor of killing Batman unless it's by his hand.
I've been in batman's shoes in a situation like this before. A close friend of mine and her boyfriend has a relationship similar to harley and joker. On her perspective, they seem like a happy couple. But on his point of view, he only sees her as a form of entertainment . I told her many times to leave him, but she refused and always blamed herself. They eventually broke up when he had to leave the country, which left her devastated and blamed herself for not being good enough. I blamed myself because I failed to help her see the truth behind their relationship.
There is very little you could have done. If an abuse victim doesn't want your help, what would you do? Rush in like Shawn Mendes in a jock strap and carry her away? No. The only person who can break an abusive cycle is the person being abused. Offer to help, offer to listen, show her that there are alternatives. But don't be a white knight.
I'm going through the same thing. I have a friend whose husband treats her like S-H-I-T. I tried to tell her many times to leave his ass, and tried to tell her about the many different options she has in making her life better, but she won't listen to me. The problem is not with you. You are doing everything you can to help your friend, but it's a two-way street. She has to make the choice to accept your help, but she chooses not to. Sure, he may have manipulated her, but you can't blame yourself. Just do the best you can with whatever you have. That's all that you can do.

Harleys voice is so heart breaking and painful realizing she isn't loved or wanted, just watching her brake down is horrible. also the implication that jokers had other hired help and the fact that they aren't around anymore means they are more than likely dead. She's just the most recent

Looking back at this amazing show, they did an amazing job of demonstrating the mental struggle that victims of domestic abuse go through. Harley is constantly trying to impress the joker by going above and beyond in an attempt to make him fall in love with her, and then when the joker takes his anger out on her her immediate thought is that she was in the wrong. This just highlights how hard it is for these poor victims to step back and realise that they are in a toxic relationship.

What's crazy, and I don't see it in the comments, is that Batman straight up sacrificed Harley getting her ass beat by Joker so he could escape. He knew Joker would only allow Batmams death by his own hands. Batman knew 100% he was getting out alive. I think he just tried to persuade Harley to letting him go before he resorted to something so cruel.
When I was little I knew there was something off about their relationship but I was too young to understand about abusive relationships. Watching this now, I can’t believe this was a kids show. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.
This is the cold, hard reality of their relationship. Harley only matters as long as she's useful. The moment she becomes an obstacle, she's dead to him. Literally.
I loved this series, it showed that no matter you motivation, or even if you don't have one: their actions are what make them villains. Even if don not see themselves as evil.
Back then, the Joker was just another villian, not the most loved villian, but in 2008 when the Dark Knight came out, people started admiring the Joker and startet the fanatism over the Joker
The stock market crashed and everybody lost their mind over it in 2008 . Joker suddenly became a icon against the scams pulled by the real estate industry. Burning money to declare bankruptcy made more sense than rewarding the people who set them up to be fired and evicted .

Did you see Harley Quinn animation series
On paper it sounds good but it takes a good writer to really make Harley shine. Just like Ultimate X-Men, there has yet been a writer who truly pulls off a solid Harley arc. They need to stop being cheap and pay Bruce Timm and Paul Dini to do her new comic. Those two Batman Animated creators understood what makes Harley great
Hey I'm new to DC when did Harley quinn and joker break up what comic is it i can't find it
I actually believe that in a way Harley is way more intelligent than Joker. She figured out the piranha thing on her own and many times the Joker's plans worked just because she helped him pull them off. And after she left him and became her own person, she did wonderfully. And here the Joker was mad at her not because "she doesn't get the joke", it's because she showed him that she could do better than him almost without effort
Even Batman doesn’t like it when Harley gets smacked

I'm sure they still do because they're going of Suicide Squad (movie)

Roxias yes
This is what we should've got in Suicide Squad.
I was expecting this the whole time, but it was practically a love story in that movie.
I know right. I mean, the roles are pretty much reversed, with Joker busting his ass to rescue Harley when it's normally the other way around.
+spongey thinkers then again, loads of joker scenes were cut out. I feel that it may have been more abusive and complicated with the deleted scenes.
Naveed shakeel
Maybe, but at the part where Harley jumped into the chemicals, joker actually pushed her in in the comics.
ShinobiPXO Indeed. I hate how they emasculated him with for example Amanda Waller's narration "she's crazier than he is. more fearless too."
This is happening too often to male characters nowadays.
But this is goals? Everyone wants this right? WRONG! He pushed her out of a window for capturing and almost killing Batman on her own. Even the man, her enemy who she hates, told her that he was lying to and using her.
Yes, everyone wants to be abused...it's human nature.
Leah Necole in trying to figure out where are you guys found these girls wanting their relationships to be like Joker and Harley's lmao
YBShaun it’s mostly on Suicide Squad videos since that movie made them look like a Bonnie and Clyde relationship when it’s really abusive
@@nataliawashington872 I heard that BTAS based the Joker’s and Harley Quinn’s relationship on how the real Bonnie and Clyde and what their relationship was like in real life. Rather tragic.
@@amandadane868 Don't know much about Bonnie and Clyde but was it this bad?
She was close to killing batman closer than anybody and it almost got her killed. What a dark moment.
Joker doesn't want Batman to die. He likes playing this game with him. Also *DAMN* he really pushed Harley out the window.
Even if Joker said that he loves her, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s an abusive relationship…
Even Batman cringed when Joker hit her, he felt sorry for her seeing her treated like that... :(
He also felt bad because he tricked Harley into contacting the Joker. Batman was completely powerless his only way out was for Joker to interfere which meant witnessing Harley being abused. Because he knew Joker wouldn't give anyone the honor of killing Batman unless it's by his hand.
'cringed'? He WINCED. Cringing is when something is CRINGE, not painful
@@i_am_only_an_insane_person That.. Isn't what cringing means.
@@jonarbuckle It is in my eyes lol
@@i_am_only_an_insane_person okay insane person
I hope she's doing better now.
You can lead a horse to water but...

Possibly one of the best representations of an abusive relationship in any form of media.
Bruce is honest, that's what friends and foes alike respect about him.
Harley is like a representation for the people who've been in abusive relationships and just want someone to love.
the sad thing about abusive people is that all their excuses for their behavior may be true, it just doesn't excuse any of it.
Woww this Harley voice acting is really impressive. It’s so emotive but it’s not too much. The VAs in this show are mwah chefs kiss.

Good job, you isolated a young fan. Why not be nicer and say something positive?
Cristobal Hernandez it’s a fictional couple, it’s not gonna hurt that bad. And there is a nice way to say it, like why not say something like “you guys are not like Harley Quinn and joker, their relationship is so toxic! you are like catwoman and Batman, two badasses in love!”

she don’t deserve this :[
"he said it was the circus" made me GASP. All her clown getup, her entire identity, it's all around him. He ruined her life.
Also, her design reminds me of Spinel. They're fairly similar.
@@charamcnuggers9534 Maybe Harley inspired Spinel's design
Looking back at this amazing show, they did an amazing job of demonstrating the mental struggle that victims of domestic abuse go through. Harley is constantly trying to impress the joker by going above and beyond in an attempt to make him fall in love with her, and then when the joker takes his anger out on her her immediate thought is that she was in the wrong. This just highlights how hard it is for these poor victims to step back and realise that they are in a toxic relationship.
This is exactly why I could never buy their love story. Joker is so crazy that he thinks Harley is just another goon for him to abuse.

What's crazy, and I don't see it in the comments, is that Batman straight up sacrificed Harley getting her ass beat by Joker so he could escape.
