The AMI is a 2 seater mini EV that recharges its 5.5kWh battery in three hours from any standard electric socket.
You can order your AMI online, at selected Citroën dealers or at media stores like FNAC in Belgium & France. It costs about € 7.000 without delivery.
The AMI isn't a real car, but a 'quadricycle'. This means you can drive it from the age of 14 or 16 in some countries or you don't even need a driving license to drive it. Operating it is as easy as pressing a button to go forward or reverse, put you foot on the throttle and turn the steering wheel.
With a range of 75 km (43 miles) and a top speed of 45 kph (28 mph), the AMI is your best friend in a crowdy city or suburban area.
Parking is easy with a length of just 2.41m and you can do a u-turn in most streets in one go, because the turning circle is just 7.2m.
It is very small, but feels very spacious. You sit on the rear axle and in front of you is a lot of storage space.
If you need space for just 1 person, you could also order the AMI Cargo, with a lot of extra storage space instead of a passenger seat.
Body panels are made as simple and symmetrical as possible, there is only one door that fits both sides, one side it hinges in the rear, the other side it opens like a regular door. Front and rear panels are also identical, just the front has white lights and the rear red lights.
The AMI is't painted but can be customised with sticker packs.
It is 100% recyclable apart from the battery, which is 85% recyclable.

It's like a base model car from the '70s and '80s. I would have zero issues keeping one of these around for short errands and in an emergency.
Ah yes. Exactly, I see it more as a basic transportation appliance for 2 instead of a car, works great in crowded / urban areas. Just don’t use it on the highway. 😅
Though cars have never been as long-lived as they are now. I recall the 70s when a ten year old car was a rarity - most had dissolved, especially 2CVs. My (Ford) car is eleven years old, has done 116,000 miles, zero rust and runs like it did when it was new.

It has few enough power and top speed at 45kph that in the EU it can be driven with a simple AM license for mopeds that can be acquired as young as 14.
And it can simply be charged at a standard power outlet, seems pretty good actually.
@@Icetea-2000 It has some qualities indeed and it is quite charming. But I guess the issue is that it is seen as a car in traffic while it is only as fast as a moped. I don't feel really safe in it while driving in busy or faster traffic.
These are PERFECT for car sharing within medium to large cities - sometimes you just need a vehicle to grab some shopping or go on a route that doesn't work with public transport and you could rent this for an hour and be done!

"Parking space leftover"; I just learned a new term. As for the dew-covered window glass, a good purchase would be a quality 6" width squeegee-what a fun word-like an Ettore or Unger product that would make quick work of those windows. Best leave the wiper for rainy days. With that much window glass, being a little "OCD" about keeping it clean will help kill some of the time it takes to charge the vehicle.
Thanks Marc! ✌️😄 It would indeed be best practice to clean all windows before leaving, the wiper and heater are just not up to the job…

They have one in display in a hardware store (Fnac) near where I live. Or just drive stick. That makes you be involved more than anything
Honestly even in Belgium I don't think its exactly safe, and I would really really want one of these since cars are expensive.
I like it! I think it's the perfect car for modern megacities. Two seats are quite enough. Think about it, how often do you drive a car with three or four passengers? As a rule, there are always 1-2 passengers in a car in the city. Imagine how much this can affect the problem of parking and traffic jams on the roads? We have 13 million people and 4 million cars in Moscow. Sometimes, traffic jams are just huge. People love big sedans and SUVs, but over time, driving them has become really problematic, not to mention parking. It would be cool if people switched to motorcycles and scooters, but this is possible no more than 5 months a year when it's 20-30 degrees Celsius outside, but in winter, when it's 20-30 degrees below zero, you can't drive a lot on a scooter, to be honest. So yes, this Citroen and similar cars are very necessary. Awesome

@@yourmom9200 I know that people born before a certain year can drive it without license here. But for the young drivers, they need a moped license. Not sure about other countries though.
Compared to the original Smart 450 that came out in 2004 this is really underwhelming. Sure, the Smart had a combustion engine, but it was only 9cm longer and 12cm wider, offered typical comfort features for a small car at the time and was able to reach speeds of 135km/h. It also was one of the safer small cars of its time.
Comfort costs energy. No EV will ever be able to match an ICE car for functionality, comfort, or longevity.

Great concept but they could put in just a bit more of comfort with the fan and those windows, I'd also find a way to have the accelerator and brake hand manipulated for easier driving, the speed could be upped to 60kmh max and a bit more robustness for longer trips.
