I watch tons of car reviews here on UA-cam and you're right up there with the best of them. I just stumbled across you today and subbed. BTW, although your voice doesn't sound all that much like him, your speech inflections at times are EXACTLY like the late Carl Sagan's. That's actually a good thing. I miss Sagan and it's cool to be reminded of him.
Hey Kevin, Great review! I am about to buy a new car sometime new year, and the CX-5 with 175 HP Diesel AWD is one of my favourites. I will use the car predominantly on motorways often making often 500 km trips with speeds upto 150 kmh, so the high-speed comfort and performance are fairly important. What's your opinion on that, is this car a good choice for that? Thanks, Edi
cabin noise is going to be a factor though. i test drove the new 2014 mazda 6. though i was impressed a lot with the car in general, the cabin noise at hwy speeds, say 65-75 mph, was pretty significant. i couldnt test drive the new cx5 at those speeds.. so dont really know about that. But i still felt that the cabin could have been a tad bit more quieter. For long drives .. thats another imp thing u could look out for.
I've had 2 Honda CRVs. But, I'm planing to buy a Mazda CX-5, just for its safety features over a CRV. That is the Blind spot detection and the reverse camera.
I like the car, its really nice. Though, I really do wish there was more power, or at least a more powerful engine option. I'm guessing if you loaded it up with 4 people and cargo for a road trip, it really would struggle. Especially here on california roads where the freeway's usual speeds tend to be 70-75 MPH. If the rumored Skyactiv Diesel engine comes here, that might be the pick of the lot.
Good call. If you loaded it with 4 people it would struggle. Actually, if you loaded it with four people and cargo you might be over the rated capacity limit. One way or another it would make merging onto a highway a stressful situation.
Depends on what you want out of it. The CR-V isn't as entertaining to drive, but it has a bit more space. The CX-5 is more entertaining, but probably isn't quite as practical.
26mpg with 4wd, automatc and in a crossover thats impressivem even if the power isnt alot it's still enough with 0-60 in about 10sec to get the kids to school or whatever.

You are simply the best Kevin!!!
A good, informative review that covers the bases.

Hi Kevin,
You are doing a really good job. I will appreciate if you could do a review on the new BMW 3 series, specially the 328i.
Thanks
Would you re-test a cx5 or Mazda 6 now both have 2.5 skyactive engine but the CX-5 still offers the 2.0.
im curious how these compact suvs handle in bad weather

nice review , would you pick it over honda cr-v ?

DO YOU THINK IT COULD HALL A 2000 LBS POP UP CAMPER ?

LOVE this cuv. but im biased because i have a mazda 3
They have a 2.5 liter engine choice now.
this car does have an Electronic power assist steering, not hydraulic.
dude i have 2.2 diesel 150 hp, car is the beast!
no. honda just wins the resale value, well atleast it is in my country. the rest cx5 is the clear winner.
Just stay away from the diesel version...
get down to the segment? oh, america...
Engine noise out the ass.
САЛО-ВОДКА
This review is far too long. It should be half this length at the absolute maximum. This is the reason I disliked it.
