Major Rajasthani is known in India as the singer and Lyricist of our Punjabi industry. He was best known for his sad and catchy songs. Living in Rajasthan, his name changed from Major Singh to Major Rajasthani.
He was born on January 14, 1961. He was born in village 5KK Buttran in the Rajasthan district. He used to sing as well as write songs. He was the son of Jeet Singh and Dhan Kaur.
He belonged to a middle-class family. He had a penchant for singing since childhood, but unfortunately, his parents did not support his hobby nor did they ever support his decision to sing. However, instead of thinking about it, he spent most of his time singing and writing.
Apart from this, he was also more interested in the famous lyricist Didar Sandhu. From Didar Sandhu, he became more interested in singing as well as writing.
He often sang Didar Sandhu’s songs during stage shows. Didar Sandhu died suddenly after this which caused a great shock to the Major as at that time his relatives left him.
However, he did not give up and instead of looking back, he made up his mind to reach higher ground.
After the death of Didar Sandhu, he moved to Bathinda Punjab and started his career in music.
He has just released his debut album ‘Malwe Da Munda’. The album was produced by the Indian Melodies Company. But the album was not as popular as Major Rajasthani had hoped.
At that time he met Jaswant Boparai who was a famous lyricist of that time. Jaswant Boparai added to his excitement. Many of Major Rajasthani’s albums became famous after working with him. At this time Major Rajasthani’s two more albums ‘Jind Likhi Tere Naaam’, ‘Mangni Kari Chori Chori’ became super hits. Major Rajasthani became very popular due to the popularity of these albums.
This was followed by the release of his album ‘Car Ribbons’ in 1995. This debut became very famous which made Major famous overnight. He performed on stage with many singers and also performed duets with female artists from Punjab and Haryana. He also does more than 5 stage shows a day. He has shown his talent as a good singer as well as a good person because he always helped the poor.
