I've been looking for Scyther for days. I was laying in bed this morning, stark naked, and one appeared in my 9th nearby spot. I don't think I've ever gotten out of bed and dressed faster. I was out my door within 20 seconds, sprinting around my neighborhood like an idiot. Found him though, made my entire morning when I captured him. He was a 602 as well, not bad

I'm pretty sure someone has already mentioned it somewhere, but stronger pokemon (either fully evolved or higher CP) knock the ball away. Thats what you see when it kind of sparkles and curves off to the side. You can drag the ball to the left or right to throw it to get it to curve around and hit if the pokemon keeps blowing them away.
To prevent the ball from swaying away you actually should throw a curved ball at them. Throwing a curveball prevents the pokemon from deflecting it.

Yeah that should work because the curveball hits from the side not the front. The pokemon can't attack from the side so you should have a chance of capturing the pokemon.

Stop rubbing the ball up and down before you throw it, that can put a spin on it. Just hold it down
Also throwing when the coloured circle is smallest will bring you the best chance of catching the pokemon.

It's not always correct, some of the time it works better when the circle is surrounding the Pokemon as close as it can get.
you don't understand do you? the catch rate will get lower with a smaller circle but you do have to throw in the circle so that's hard too

You still have to hit it within the smallest circle point to get a "excellent shot". Better to aim for a "nice" and "great" throw since they are much easier and can still capture orange circle pokemon decently enough.

PRO TIP: The hard Pokèmon are easier to catch when the colored circle is very small. Great throws and Nice throws are worse than basic throws with a small colored circle.
