His unit figured out why the enemy was jumping in the water in this one area, and not coming up that they had an underwater entrance to a hide site. He went down in scuba gear. He encountered an enemy diver, and neither could get the upper hand. He spit his regulator out, and bit the dudes adams apple out, and then surfaced. As Gunnery Sergeant Highway said improvise, adapt, and overcome.
